Good Afternoon Mike ,
I did this for our family, to recognize my fathers service during WW 2 in the Pacific Theater ! I often look at it and am very proud of his service ! I wanted to follow in his footsteps but ultimately couldn’t because of my back condition! The military didn’t want me at the induction center in 1970 ! Maybe just as well, I was not mature at 18 !

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 9:15AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 76F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

My mom was in the bacon grease club, too. Dad had three eggs and bacon for breakfast every morning. He died after a series of strokes started when plaque buildup in his caroted artery got loose and lodged in his brain. I've not been much of a bacon eater ever since.

Valves adjusted on the zebra yesterday; they were just a tiny bit loose and a bit too much clatter. All better now. Love those simple pushrod twins.

Started the day with a soak in the hot tub; that could turn into a regular thing. But not for the full 30 minutes on the jet pump timer. There is such a thing as too much hot water.

Retrieved the battered engine from the freight terminal, and there are some good used parts. I was a little disappointed that the carb was not complete, but the body was undamaged. Half a loaf. I have a friend that a few years ago gave me a factory flywheel for a bike I have on which someone had substituted a lightened aftermarket flywheel. That flywheel wasn't compatible with the electronic ignition I installed. My friend has has a bike that can use this carb, so at long last I will feel caught up to him. Still need to get it to him, though. Was hoping to see him this weekend, but his wife has gone blind and he's her only caregiver. Tough times in his household.

Had an unproductive and protracted interaction with a Sirius/XM rep yesterday, trying to get the car and van added to my subscription at no extra cost. I told them I can only use one at a time, so why should I pay more. And that I would cancel my subscription if that wasn't possible. That's when I learned that there would be no refund for any unused portion of my subscription, which amounted to a couple hundred bux. And after a flurry of refund/credit/special introductory rate BS, I'd still end up paying more after the first year. So instead of having to haggle every year, I'll just let the subscription expire and listen to the same music that I've loaded on my phone, or even better, podcasts.

Ran out of time to give the zebra a bath, and figure out the Bluetooth connection to the new helmet, so that's on today's agenda. Along with more garage decluttering, and maybe hooking up the outlets for the 240VAC machines.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good Morning !

74F with a few sprinkles @ 12:00, not even enough to wet the ground. Looks like the rain is on its way out until later when a line of potentially severe storms will move through. Calling for a high of 81F.

Got the California Wonder green bell peppers planted first thing yesterday while The Woman was at the doctors. There were only 6 of them.

Was very warm and muggy - dew points were above 60F - but there was considerable cloud cover which made it tolerable.

Watered all the remaining plants on shelves - mostly cabbage, broccoli, and a few tomato plants.

Mixed up some seed for the ground feeders and put that out, also refilled one suet feeder.

Took down the tube feeder pole and brought the tube feeders in and refilled them. Still need to relocate the pole to a better location that the squirrels can't get to the feeders before I put them back up.

Got a shower after The Woman got back from Her appointment and She gave me a haircut after I got cleaned up. Was getting to the point I could hardly stand it ... :giggle:

After that we headed down to the local garden center and picked up a flat of plants. Was most peppers but also some eggplant.

Then we headed over to the Acme and She ran in picked up some BE mashed potatoes while I ran in to the Ace Hardware next door and grabbed some seeds. Picked up summer squash - straight yellow and zucchini - plus some cucumber and some okra which will be the first year we have tried to grow that.

From there we headed over to KFC and picked up two 8 piece buckets of chicken - one for us and one for the neighbor lady.

After that we headed back home.

I ate right after we got back, Woman took the neighbor lady's bucket over to her, along with Her own plate and ate with her.

After eating I went out and got 8 Keystone Resistant Giant Green Bell pepper plants put in the ground, along with 8 Golden California Wonder bell peppers.

Did some clean up back in the garden after that.

Neighbor lady came by with the dogs after the Woman got back and we visited for a while.

Got the 2nd sprayer filled up with glyphosate before I hit the rack.

Tasks for today:

Get front lawn mowed.

Maybe work on getting the Medium Hot Block peppers planted.

Further clean up back in the garden, finish topdressing the previously planted peppers.

Head up to shop later and get that lift cylinder rebuild finished.

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday ... (y)

Swapped 12’ trailer for the 16’ on back of truck. Discover the 2” ball was loose on the hitch that I towed with yesterday. Can’t find my large wrench. Big trailer uses 2 5/16.
Had to remove side boards from trailer.
Hand washed the truck.
Overcast and humid.

Yeah, we have a few like that in our family. My father's will be the latest addition. I have managed to find a few of his transfer and duty station assignments. I will add those the citation and medal letters to his collection. That way his grandchildren have some history on the price of the collection going forward.

Proud of our veterans, past, present and future.

The SiriusXM radio is one of the more modern things I really enjoy. Two of our vehicles have it, I have let it expire a few times and then always accepted on of their offers to renew. I'm paying $40 month for the two, but it also includes steaming which I have only used a couple of times. As I also use Pandora still as wired auxiliary inputs some times.
I have thought about getting the SiriusXM stand alone radio with vehicle kits to have in the tractors and having it for the vehicles also with just one subscription but it is so much easier to just have it on the vehicle radios.

We getting a good thunderstorm and rain now, already .3"
Still pricing rotary mowers for Dad, while I would like to go to a dual spindle to get more cut width, the difference in price is too much. A 6 ft single spindle in half the cost of a 7 ft dual spindle. (as in $3500 less)

fast service on today's heart stress test. Just got a call saying
in brief you have no heart disease
I'll take it.
see the doc asst next Thursday to get the report, I'm sure will show calcification and a few other issues.
pretty much normal for my age. I need to find out my heart's ejection fraction.

other than them still not knowing why I just go so sick, I seemed to have passed all the recent tests.
In some ways giving myself a physical before my trip.
probably will get pills for blood pressure.
the alternative is to spend 12 grand on Wegovy and lose 20 pounds.

warm and sticky out. Some mushrooms popping up in back yard.
