It sure is fun to watch nature. Saw the eagle today on my way into Costco. Got out with just the 11 list grocery items for $118.
Picked up some Lo Mein for lunch, and like the song I was listening to, It’s already Gone.
76° and sunny.
Saw Costco had Bosch 300 DW but no price on it. $1k online, whirlpool for $500

I cut a piece of 18ga aluminum to make sure that my Kubota excavator bucket ear drawing is correct, if this fits, Then I’ll cut some out or 5/8 or 3/4 steel plate.
Forgot the picture of the template-

It’s about 20” long for scale.

Sure did. Admittedly I have not bought one in years though.
Why are they not available anymore. They have been excellent cameras.
Amazon still lists them. Someone said because of security concerns, and they supposedly report back home.
Amcrest and Q-See are the same cameras with same menu system.
I have all 3 brands.

WU says mostly cloudy and 74F @ 12:30 ... but I'm seeing lots of sunshine out the window. Calling for a high of around 80F today.

Seedlings watered that needed it yesterday, plus some got fed. Peppers coming along:

IMG_3207 copy.jpg

Set out broccoli and cabbage in the shade to start hardening them off a little:

IMG_3210 copy.jpg

Got 3 bills scheduled online for payment.

One of them was the last payment on the Cub ... :giggle:

Refilled both suet feeders.

Then headed up to the shop to start on the loader lift cylinder.

Got the gland nut on the cylinder to come loose just using the pin wrench and 3' pipe cheater bar. Had a very distinctive "pop" sound when it came loose.

Disconnected the hoses, removed the bolts from the pins and pulled the pins out and took the cylinder over to the small welding table where I let the hydraulic fluid drain out into a plastic container from the Chinese place.

While that was occurring I worked on cleaning the grease and residue off the cylinder body and when it finished draining I unscrewed the gland nut the rest of the way and took the cylinder over to the parts washer and pulled the rod/piston out of the body.

Got the body and the rod end all cleaned off and took them back over to the small welding table. Set the body on a 5 gallon bucket to drip-dry and clamped the rod into the vise to unscrew the nut that holds the piston on the rod.

Couldn't get the nut loose just using a combination wrench, needed the 1/2" air impact which was down at the house.

So I located a seal kit which I had in stock and headed down to the house to verify it was the correct one for the lift cylinders. Turns out it was so, I gathered up the 1/2" impact wrench and sockets and headed back up to the shop.

And that's where I left things.

Woman spent most of the day weeding in the garden. Then She went over to the neighbors to meet up with a mutual friend that is recovering from cancer.

Had Her run down to the corner and pick up 6 gallons of gas for the Cub on the way back.

Removed some electric fence insulators off some t-posts while I waited for Her to get back.

When She got back I refueled the Cub, which just filled both tanks.

Was too windy to do any spraying.

So I called it a day.

Spent some time on the phone with Amazon resolving the first real non-delivery issue I think we've had.

Item was purchased from a 3rd party seller on April 18th who provided all the tracking info. Estimated delivery date originally 24th - 26th. Seller showed package was picked up UPS within a couple of days of the order being placed. When I checked on it a few days after that it was showing the package was "delayed". Checked again last night ... now showing package was delivered on April 23rd.

Yeah, no ... that didn't happen.

So I spent probably 30 minutes on the phone, mostly waiting to get routed to the right department. Once I got there, the lady I spoke with said they would either issue credit to the method I used to pay (takes longer) or an Amazon gift card (basically a credit to our Amazon account, happens quickly) so I took the latter.

Woman has been around back doing more weeding in the garden.

Agenda for today:

Use what is left of glyphosate in the sprayers to spray the western edge of the new forsythia bed, assuming the winds remain calm.

Then maybe get those remesh panels put back up on the sawhorses and get those sprayed with phosphoric acid to kill the rust.

Front needs mowed again, like down at Mike's place the grass is growing rapidly.

Then back up to shop later for more work on the loader lift cylinder.

Hope everyone is having a decent Wednesday ... (y)

Drew, did you ever make headway with landlady as to garage man door? Possible to add your new green house to that point?
no, I've been vacillating around because I realized it wasn't her fault I put an electric garage door opener on the door.
She was happy to have it but not the cost of the door. So since I made this problem, I've been thinking how to high tech this but making
sure the battery backup on the unit works. I already replaced the battery with one a little larger, and so far it hasn't failed on me. Goes very slowly while on internal battery, caused because gfci outlet in garage trips. But I've been thinking of getting home after two months on the road and have to go through
that window. I'm already waiting on her to get the front screen door replaced; it ripped out at bottom where wood rotted out. Not a good design.
But I do think I might offer to pay half, see if she bites on that. It's going to require a building permit, township office just down the street.
so the door will cost three grand likely. It shouldn't but that's what gets charged around here.
That wall needs to be sawzalled, rebuilt and a new integrated door/frame put in.
First I have to find a carpenter, need to do this all myself and have a simple solution for landlady.
we get this and you pay this
simple

Someone said because of security concerns, and they supposedly report back home.
I recently purchased a Dahua camera. I can confirm this is true.

The default setting was for the camera to "report back" to the manufacturer what your IP address is and other information. No thanks. Except by the time you navigate to that screen, well .... it has already happened.

The camera also required allowing a "plugin" program (.exe file) to execute to configure the camera. This is a program it will run on your host PC. I did not allow that. Doing so is a huge security risk.

I removed the camera from my system. I will use it at some time in the future, but not until I have a complete quarantine system around it to prevent misbehavior. Too risky.

I'm setting up 2 more amcrest cameras right now. Same basic menu system as Dahua, but some newer choices over the older cameras. Have never seen a "report back" item on any screen, including when I have set up Dahua cameras (I have one I'll check). There is the P2P option, which is sending it out somewhere, if that's what you refer to.

Ahhhh... productive day.
The SO broke out her tractor and started cutting the back eight acre pasture.
I washed up the reclaimed barn wood and let the sun dry it. Will have to lay it out and start cutting in the AM.
Looks like grass cutting season has officially started.

I did not find it at first-- only when I did a deep examination of every option and menu item did I find it. It was related to "remote support" ... ya sure.

btw Amcrest is a budget version of Dahua. Some people try buying the "lower end" Amcrest models then applying the Dahua firmware to get all the nicest features. Some succeed, but those who fail ruin their camera. Not my sort of thing to do ....

Gosling alert!

Here is a picture of the first steps of 6 goslings. These little guys hatched yesterday but mom sat on them for about 24 hours. Then, about 7am this morning, it was off to see the world!

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 2.7C and it's presently 15.2C, partly cloudy & calm.

Not much on for today except for doing the hay round shifting task for a neighbour... and when I say 'neighbour', she's about a 15-20 minute tractor drive from me.

That's about it, take care all.

Just got home, saw lights flashing in the field below the house, then helicopter landed. Son looked it up, said a Zero Turn rolled around 8 pm, helicopter just left at 9. Initial report said he was fine and just needed help, but they flew him to Shock trauma. He is a volunteer fireman, lost his son in Iraq. Got a video of the helicopter taking off.

I've found amcrest to be nicer. The Dahua i was using is one that croaked, so I don't have any working any more. Might of only had the one. Also, the new cameras' don't ask you to load the .exe like the old ones did.
Years ago I ran wireshark on one of the qsee cameras, didn't see any evidence of any extra connections being made.
