BEF our downstairs unit is 3ton 18 seer backed up by propane and comes on at 39 degrees so it’s been on most of day. Never got above freezing. Tomorrow will be just as cold

15°F now, highs around 25° and mostly sunny today. West wind 10-15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wound up with around 5” fairly dry snow yesterday, went out after supper to clean off the vehicles and it started sleeting, left everything as is and will clean up this morning. I’d rather the sleet be on top of the snow. I did manage to keep the couch from floating away and helped do a quick house clean up.

Budget software, I would love to find something my wife would understand and use but don’t have any expectations she would. She’s of the “we can’t be out of money we still have checks left” school. I keep an excel spreadsheet that probably has 25 yrs of projected and actual budget info, she doesn’t understand any of it. One thing I have done is keep a notebook of all our financial stuff with explanations of how bills are paid, where money comes from etc. and what needs to happen if I go first. This I keep updated and is more for my peace of mind than anything. Fortunately she has a much younger sister who is adept with financial stuff and took care of their dads finances until he passed. This is one of the things that worries me most as we age. Sorry for being long winded lol.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Poured first cup of coffee. 4° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 14° with party cloudy skies. Got paper work sent off to Insurance company yesterday. Going to be another indoor day. Sure are a lot of birds lined up at feeders. Lots of opportunities for pictures.

Mostly, I think squirrel was looking under snow for it's supply of nuts. Had to come up every so often for air.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

9F going to 32. Coldest so far this winter. Still over an inch of snow left...got up to mid 30s yesterday, plus ground warmth melted most.

Ron, great photo of your wife and a huge fish. Looks like fun. My anti-freeze tester came in yesterday, just in time for this cold...the tractor registered -25F, and the zero-turn -45F.

Mostly, sorry you're sick with C-virus. My wife ordered the free tests last month so we have a supply...still made in China, and had an expiration date in March.

Had to do a double feeding of birds yesterday with the snow bringing in new ones, including big flock of cowbirds :(.

Had a fun hike tracking animals in the snow yesterday...followed a pair of deer, a 'possum, 2 foxes, and a meadow vole (only went about 6 feet). Possums are the most fun. Sometimes it looks like they are drunk.

Cleaned snow off my truck and my wife's suv...she has to take her mom to doctor today. I'll probably need to go scrape frost and warm it up for her. Roads are clear, but maybe black ice.

Good morning! We are also at the coldest temperature this winter at 11˚F even with a Southerly wind, which surprises me. There is no ice or snow left and none predicted. We have Gas, Water and Electricity and the garage temp is 51˚. All is well. PT today - skip next week and then the final PT the last week in Jan.
Temp will rise above freezing for the first time since Saturday night around noon today.

good morning all
I'd say a lot of us are mighty cold this morning.
12 degrees here, oil burner running like mad, several electric heaters on
burning fuel oil at four bucks a gallon is not good but better than being cold

this is when I really, really wish I had a wood stove.
I bet Buckeye and his cats are curled up around his.

this week will remain cold, so two inches of snow on Friday is pretty likely.
Then next week, a warming spell.

some seed packets came in, always a bright spot in the middle of winter.
I did order one roll of black landscape fabric, will try planting the radishes and lettuce in that.

have we heard from RS? Hope he isn't frozen in.

5 outside right now. Double take. Heading to lower 30's today. If the wind kicks in...ouch.

Stoked up the wood stove again. Will have to talk to the owner about last log rules for the night.

Nothingness is on the agenda. I had to run out yesterday for wife meds...sinus issue that has not gotten better. All I can say is people can't drive when they see white stuff.

For budget and investment tracking...been using Excel for 10 years. Have a few models built in and well....I have met my goals...so it looks to work. LOL.

Hope all have a great day...stay warm and safe.

Enjoy your day all.

10° was the low, now 14°
Today will stay cold, tonight about the same
Was 48° in my garage yesterday when it was 25° outside.
Woke up from a dream that I was at work and about to be layed off. Jokes on you, dream.
Wife has hair appointment, I might go with her to grab lunch.
The cold weather has increased traffic to my FB picture site. managing it is like a job now.

I am far more opinionated than most. I also agree with David Brinkley when he said “Everyone is entitled to my opinion”.
But I also agree with Daniel Patrick Moynihan, that while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, they are not entitled to their own facts.

With all that in mind, I make a much better citizen here if I keep my opinions to my myself, and try my best to ignore those who don’t.
We all have something to offer regardless of our differences.
Once, I posted facts about why the gasoline prices had risen so much a year or so ago....I did not name names. I just posted facts. Only to be moderated. So, I have learned that facts apparently bother some people.

If the weather is bad, we usually know the facts behind it. But not as touchy a subject because most of us realize there is not much you can do about it.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up to badly).

7.7F, going to mid-30s sunny day forecast.

Woke up to faucet still dripping, nice to start the day with a win 😁

Harry had a very good play day, now that he is familiar with the place he didn’t have any first-day-of-school jitters — when we pulled us he dragged me to the door! So I guess he likes it.

work is still entertaining, for varying values of entertaining… yesterday the servers kept going in and out and resetting and yeah, it was entertaining. I hope they get those issues straightened out before the real work starts coming in. . .

even with the woodstove stuffed last night, HVAC started kicking on around 3AM. I really need to invest in a thermal imager and seal this place up!

one more cuppa and then I go out to warm up the car — definitely need that this morning!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Some facts are more equal than others…

Wow everyone, keep warm! I just read posts quoting 7F, 10F, 11F, and 12F degrees in various places. Very cold and widespread!

A rainy soggy 39F going to 47F here in Formerly-Great California.

Wife and I are going to walk the property today evaluating the merits of building a 2nd residence. Before, restrictions were suffocating and expensive. Although we have nearly 100 acres and just a single residence, a base building permit to add a small 2nd residence started at $36,000, then onerous demands for expensive road improvements and lot more got added. No-go. A fresh new State law curtailed much of the County's power to deny permits and demand excessive fees. It's my understanding we can now build a 1,000 +/- sq ft 2nd residence for a $16,000 permit fee, no other demands, and most importantly, the County can no longer refuse to issue a permit. So, we will walk the property and kick around ideas about that.

Morning all, fall has finally left, 10 and clear going up to 25.
Driveway is crunchy.
I use Excel to track the big stuff only.
Since I spend much of my day in Excel, I try not to on my time.

Be well,

Still way too high IMO.
