25 going to 50. Perfect winter day to end the year.

Happy Birthday, Wag! and New Year, too!

Nice tractor and bush hog, DF! You must have a good boy this year.

Ken, The National looks like a real nice place. Glad to see historic buildings restored, too. Maybe your son can play at the Rathskeller.

Ron, nice squirrel tail (tale). Terrible looking explosion...sorry about those folks. Some house explosions are caused by gas leaks or meth labs.

Worked on firewood some more yesterday...moved 10 wheelbarrow loads rather than use the tractor. Sill have about half a pallet left to split and stack before heading back into the woods once it is drier or frozen.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

21.9F going to low 50s, sunny day forecasted.

Good News! I have calculated that I have enough cash on hand to live comfortably for the rest of the year!!!

Church in a little bit, then preparatory cooking for tomorrow. Last trip up the mountain for the dogs this year, once it gets to the day-high temperatures—- it was nasty raw yesterday so that trip didn’t happen.

Now coffe and catchup on GM.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Good morning! Started off this morning with a heavy frost and 28˚F but with clear skies and Southerly wind we will be in the mid 60s this afternoon.

Rip sorry for the loss of your Dad, may he Rest In Peace.

In PT BOI is preparing me for participation with my wife in pickle ball, he has me working out on the Agility Ladder like this but only about 5 of the 20 drills. But he has me do 8 reps X 3 sets.
The day after PT is my recovery day.

My Brother who has been very persistent on getting each new covid vaccine as it come out has covid now. I gave up on the vaccines in the spring when I got covid.

H&F cards last night with the neighbor and the wives were very victorious, 4/1.
There is a statement that starts with “What Do you mean that…” which,if I finished. Would get me put in TBN Timeout…

Good Morning Guys,
Vt, 24 to start going to 31 ! Still have not seen the sun Ron ! 😉

Ted, yes that is walnut ! Way too expensive, so when I was in the shop yesterday and the sleeve on my old coat grabbed my crosscut fence and I screwed up one of the motices on one leg, I’m glad no one was in ear shot of me ! 😉 After much thought, I came up with a fix by widening the mortise and gluing in a filler piece, which will not be seen after assembly! I’m sure I will screw something else up before this project is done ! 😁

Wagtail, Happy Birthday!

Dftodd, wow talk about a Great Christmas!! Very nice, hope for many years of enjoyment with your new tractor ! I’m jealous!!

Mountain peaks look frosty this morning !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !

Good morning on this last day of the year!

All the beautiful snow has melted but now thaw ended and the cold is fast approaching.
It looks like it will be hoarfrost. -15 C = 5 F. With now snow that can be rather destructive. We will see

No big plans for today. The older daughters will be away in the company of their friends. We with the little ones will be at home
For the evening we have tradition - will do metallurgy - we will melt tin and cast fortunes
Other than that - nothing special
~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have that saying (I will try to translate literally) : relatives are like fish, they both start to smell on the third day
I don't know man...
As we all know Santa brings best presents only for those who behave good.
You must have lived all this year veryveryvery boring way to get so beautiful toy
I just had to talk missus clause into it
Good Morning
39° with a high of 41 under a mostly cloudy sky.
No rain for today, maybe late tonight.
Yesterday started with Zoe in the shop, a friend came by with some 1/2” x 4” arms from his bush hog that magically bent. They were straight when he lent it out, but he noticed they were bent some time after he got it back. No mention from the borrower.
At any rate, the 50 ton press made short work out of straightening them. I got some other tasks accomplished, some cleanup and organizing, I have to make some workspace in the wood shop, as I have speakers to build. I have a nearly endless list of waiting customers, when I have the time and material, I will take some orders, and I figure it’s about time to build a few.
Had fun with son flying RC float plane on the pond-
IMG_3566.jpg
Finished the day with a small job at the restaurant, had a nice dinner of ribeye and steamed fresh greenbeans when I was done.
Not sure what today will bring, I might plasma cut some pieces of 3/4 steel for press blocks, or at least square up the ones I used yesterday.
Son was asking about flying somewhere for lunch, which would be fun.
We used to fly together all the time when he was young, I originally bought the little plane to teach him to fly. But we haven’t done much of it in the last 15 years, but we are doing more of it now, as it’s fun to get back to it.
Besides it waaay to wet to do anything outside, but I still haven’t put in the driveway markers. The tractor is backed into the shop, but the snow blade isn’t on it, and as wet as it is, I’d make a mess swapping the bucket for it now.
63°F and no rain. Yesterday stayed cloudy and misty at times. Today’s forecast actually calls for some sun.
Got the spare refrigerator installed in the garage. Relocated from the cottage which is getting all new appliances as part of the remodel.
Got some end of year stuff done on the computer.
Enjoyed the Detroit Dallas game more than expected. Likely watch more football today.
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Morning all, 42 going to 44 and cloudy.
Finally got most of the ornamental grasses cut and dumped out back.
Son off to GF for New Years, us to a local restaurant for dinner.
Did take dog for a walk at peddlars village, did not spend too much time, too crowded.
Happy birthday Wagtail!
Nice tractor DFTodd - congrats
Off to bring up more firewood to the house.
Son hit a rock on the side of the road, Tire seems to have survived but will need to keep an eye on it.
Be well,
Now you see it,
Gorilla cart works just fine for this. 5+ full loads to do the larger grass clumps.
Still a few smaller ones to be done and need to trim our the crape myrtles.
I thought of Thomas when i saw this, over 3 million hits.
lot of bucks
there was a time when I counted 31 deer in the front field of the family farm here.
Farmers could not plant corn profitably. Even with no rent charged, local farmers would not plant in our fields.
So we had to do hay or mow. Many times i mowed that field with an ancient Bushhog and a JD B.
pucka pucka pucka round and round and round. 31 acres of fields in 116 total. We would have much rather had corn or a crop there.
We weren't farmers, but my father and grandfather wanted a farm, not an estate. You grew food.
wound up all we could grow was low grade hay for mushroom hay, carted off to Kennett PA
All because the deer wrecked the crops. So my father became quite a gardener, Rodale from early on, mulch and organics,
it's where I got my interest, and we sure
fenced those gardens.
the deer were just too much competition, as far as they were concerned, we were on their habitat and were the rodents.
I suppose if the community wants to feed them daily and install a large flashing light on each one
so I won't hit them at night, well ok. They are pretty animals.
just not very bright
ask anyone who has gotten Lyme's disease how much they like deer. Including permanent neurological damage.
if they can dip sheep, maybe we can start dipping our deer. :unsure:
This happened about 9 miles southwest of me. What could cause an explosion that would destroy a home to nothing but debris?
Almost always some explosive gas.
Happy birthday Wagtail!
Church today first, then Mickey Dee's for lunch. Wifey is tired of cooking.
Hope to get son shredding today
Nice shiny new tractor DF, I hope it lasts you a long time.
Happy New Years all!!!
I watched that video and then saw the dumb sob feeding those damned things.
In many locations it is illegal to feed deer, there have been people ticketed and fined for doing so, but not enough.
That many animals gathered that densely and at such a high population density is an invitation to disease. Not to mention the damage to vegetation and vehicles.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic wasting disease is "a prion disease that affects deer, elk, reindeer, sika deer and moose" and has been found in Norway and South Korea as well as the U.S. and Canada. Signs of CWD in animals include lethargic behavior and dramatic weight loss, and testing has indicated primates can contract it by eating tainted meat, according to the CDC, raising concern that humans could, too.
Wasting disease has not been transmitted to humans yet. I was wondering which "primates they used in the experiments, probably monkeys.
