I thought of Thomas when i saw this, over 3 million hits.
lot of bucks
there was a time when I counted 31 deer in the front field of the family farm here.
Farmers could not plant corn profitably. Even with no rent charged, local farmers would not plant in our fields.
So we had to do hay or mow. Many times i mowed that field with an ancient Bushhog and a JD B.
pucka pucka pucka round and round and round. 31 acres of fields in 116 total. We would have much rather had corn or a crop there.
We weren't farmers, but my father and grandfather wanted a farm, not an estate. You grew food.
wound up all we could grow was low grade hay for mushroom hay, carted off to Kennett PA
All because the deer wrecked the crops. So my father became quite a gardener, Rodale from early on, mulch and organics,
it's where I got my interest, and we sure
fenced those gardens.
the deer were just too much competition, as far as they were concerned, we were on their habitat and were the rodents.
I suppose if the community wants to feed them daily and install a large flashing light on each one
so I won't hit them at night, well ok. They are pretty animals.
just not very bright
ask anyone who has gotten Lyme's disease how much they like deer. Including permanent neurological damage.
if they can dip sheep, maybe we can start dipping our deer.
