good morning all
29 going up to 45 in clouds today
after breakfast going to put new stereo together.
Disappointed that when I went to plug in new fancy optical cable in back of pc
to connect to new amp, it didn't have one. Oops.
Guess I'll have to use the USB again, which I was trying to avoid. Something about the USB
not being as wide range? Throttled or restricted in some way?

the usb cable is actually a printer cable with the weird square connector on back. Made sure I looked at back of
Sprout amp. I could also use rca cables. I wonder what has the best fidelity? Pretty sure it's optical.

Inlaws sent me a gigantic two pound apple Danish coffee cake, exactly what I don't need.
I had one slice so I could tell them how good it was, but whole thing going to another xmas party where
it should get consumed. There are enough carbs sitting on my kitchen counter right now to send me into
glycemic shock....just can't eat it all.. three tins of cookies, three loaf cakes, and this gigantic Danish ring.
Going to freeze some of it.

Coffee is cooling in cup. 38° with rain this morning. Heading to 45° with fog in lowlands. .31" of rain so far. Got horn on tractor wire up. It makes lots of noise. Went to Kubota dealer with neighbor and got 5 gallons of transmission oil. Enjoyed neighborhood Christmas party in evening. Today I will put cleanup barn and shop. Maybe. Another party this evening.

Mostly, The bird house is a ornamental cedar bird house. It has been up in the tree for over 20 years. It is slowly changing it's looks as birds, squirrels and weather change it.

14° now, highs mid to upper 30’s, mix of sun and clouds with light variable winds.

Dump run this morning, then a stop at the hardware store to replace the can of pipe dope I couldn’t find yesterday (which will magically appear when I get home). Install new hoses on the plow and then no plans for the rest of the day.

I was thinking if I ate everything on the counter, my AIC would get up to 6.5; I'd be officially diabetic, and then
qualify for the 1000 dollar a month pill that will make me lose weight in a hurry.
perhaps not the best logic.

I have been enjoying watching some Youtube videos on early period stereo and computer repair.
Usagi Electric just saw one on repairing a Control Data Centurion Finch hard drive. Finch drive? Hawk drive?

I used to build Heathkits though much of this stuff is over my head, but I love to watch them use an oscilloscope and use
the wave pattern for diagnostics. And you sure need to be able to read a schematic.

breakfast done, time to build a wooden stand for office, which will hold my new tiny amplifier (size of full size book) but more importantly will get the
computer and UPS off the floor and nicely hidden. Just need to get to power button on pc and front panel, so that will be closest to my seat.
I have wall brackets coming, not here yet, simple L brackets for wall that will be totally hidden by speakers. I also ordered some felt lining for the brackets.
white brackets behind white speakers, we shall see. Or hopefully not see. But since speakers need to be angled inwards a little, brackets may show a little.
I'm fine with that. Four 1.5 inch steel brackets, 8x12. Means moving all my family pics on wall, this one addition will be a catalyst to perhaps finally clean up my office.

three years of wires had to be undone, one of two UPS's removed, old wires to nowhere. Then a thorough vacuum.

and since my existing and new speakers both run off USB, means I can run both at same time, or just one pair. Whole idea is both...new
ones will give better imaging and depth in this small room. Though current Klipsch mini horns in front of me are sure nice.
They reminded me how much I used to like this and well, why not.

Depending on how much snow we get today, I will probably scrape the driveways tomorrow.
