Good morning!!!!

good morning all
42 in Front Royal, warming up nicely today
time to put my golf shirts back on, getting further South

yesterday's adventures were hard on the rv too.
too much shaking I guess, woke up to floor of bathroom flooded
and water out into salon. Sigh. Just clear water, but something is coming loose. Stuffed a towel in there for now, will deal with it as soon as I can.

I was going to take the byways to Penhook VA today, which is near Smith Mountain Lake, a gorgeous area in VA. But...yesterday was too much, I need some time in the right lane on cruise and will take 81 instead down to Roanoke. 81 is a terrible road if you compete in traffic.
I'm going 65 in right lane and just about everyone flies by.
Tomorrow I take 29 further South so more byways tomorrow.

I hope to meet up with Buppies later on today. He is nice enough to drive down here to the campground and we hopefully will go to an early dinner at Carl's restaurant in Penhook.

46 up to 82.

L4N, you're getting a nice snow, and we're likely setting a record high today.

Kyle, I don't understand fully how Texas taxes work, but we don't have schools tax, etc...just one real estate tax which is based on value...then the county government determines the budget of each department, like schools, fire, sheriff. At a state level, we had a surplus this year, so the state sent each taxpayer a rebate...we got a check for $400 last month. Glad you're getting a tax break.

The Quaker Run fire is still growing...3,000 acres. SNP has closed numerous trails, had to cut electricity up to Big Meadows, so the firefighters wouldn't be endangered...maybe rain tomorrow will help.

Took the grapple off and put the bucket back on the tractor yesterday. Needed to shovel out the ash pit from last year's woodstove...hard to believe all that firewood I burned all winter was reduced to ashes that didn't quite fill up my 6-foot FEL bucket. Also brought in firewood and filled up the rack on the screened porch. Cleaned out the stove from October's cold spell burn, and cleaned the front glass real well...ready to go when the cold arrives.

Don, hope that knee is improving. You seem to be very disciplined in your recovery management.

Good morning! 72˚southerly breeze BUT a cold front will hit at 10am bringing north winds and rain - nice!! the temps will be in the low 60s this afternoon.

Up early for my first out-patient physical therapy session at a new place.
Mostly I know you passed me on millage on the Peugeot, I probably had a 1000 miles on it.

My Elderly biking yesterday (inside on a recumbent bike) went well after a 5 minute warm up then a 10 minute session to be increased (time and tension) each day on my own. It will be interesting to see what exercises the new PT will have me do and if the neighborhood fitness center has them also. I only have scheduled 4 session and will see if we are a good fit.

Good Morning Guys,
PC, 77 going to 86 ! Sunny again, actually it only rained for awhile yesterday morning, not a total washout !

Opinion: we really need some legal restrictions put on school spending limiting schools based on student academic performance. IOW, if student performance drops or doesn’t meet expectations, they don’t get to build that new stadium or the superintendent‘s salary gets cut.

TBS, sounds reasonable to me ! Of course that probably won’t happen !

I’m reading the Escape by David Baldacci ! Great book so far !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day ! 🙏

42 outside this AM, heading to upper 70's. May set some records today.

What is on record is - lack of rain. We need some rain here.

Yesterday was a blur. Did not get done what I wanted to get done. Always today. LOL. Wife came home with fixtures, a toilet, a surplus cabinet and a whole bunch of counter top samples. Yikes....more work, especially making the cabinet work. Will need "customization". LOL.

Pool closing today? Water level is below the skimmers. So running the pumps is....different. Need to get it closed.

Only cut my hands up four times, with gloves, weird, re-hanging Milk House metal. Almost done...it does not pay to be a perfectionist...especially on old buildings...nothing is straight. I know that and still cannot find the happy spot.

Hope all have a great day.

Safe travels Drew.

Hoping for healing to those ailing.

Here are some pics of the project. Concrete floor sealed and "new" walkway Metal work. The walkway was open on one side before I closed it up.

Property taxes should be eliminated. As things are, you never own your house. You rent from the gov't. If you don't pay taxes, you will lose your home. This is WRONG.

Now how to replace such a huge amount? Many ways. Somehow we need to figure out how to excerpt more from the people that don't belong here. They consume more resources than the general population, and they send their money back home. They live in poverty housing, often many to a single room, and therefore don't help pay into the system. Yes, the owner of the low rent home pays some, while they charge them enough to cover and make a profit. Without a state income tax, that leaves sales tax, fuel tax, and other sources. I wish spending could come down, but state and Fed welfare programs have exceeded our ability to fund them. No easy solutions. But you should never have to worry about losing your home, if it is a moderate home. Prices of homes have become way too high.

oh no snow
coming soon to a lawn near you

going to be 80's during the day from now on.
going to leave early, maybe get into Penhook
by lunchtime
I'd rather see Buppies for lunch, not dinner
driving at night is just no fun

besides, if I leave earlier I can go slower

drop down table in kitchen broke from its mount yesterday.
could not get screws back in, nothing lined up, so out came the super glue. I just tested it and it worked just fine

yesterday I was shaken, not stirred....
but I get up with a smile on my face and wonder
what the day will bring.

Since they took paddling out of the schools. Some kids just don't participate. Schools should not suffer, when they are told they can't discipline. My son says many of the minorities just don't care. They don't turn in work, they think it's a big system coming down on them because they are minorities, and so they don't have to participate. Not all, but many. You just can't blame the teachers for these, and they have dumbed down to some degree. Yes, my son takes the accelerated classes but the regular classes are just full of kids who don't care. They can't easily push these troublemakers out either. Unless they break the law, and then the laws are lax and they are back in school. Case in point was the punk who threatened my daughter and wife a year and a half ago. He barely got a slap on the wrist, and I'm not sure if he missed a day of school. He should have gotten a court case.

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 4:00AM in Yankee Hill. A mix of clouds and sun early followed by cloudy skies this afternoon. High 66F. Winds light and variable.

Sorry about your detour, Drew. GPS is a two edged sword: really nice when it works, a hot mess when it doesn't. I've had much better luck with Google Maps than with stand alone Garmin units, as road closure information is much more up to date. On the previous trip we saw a road closed sign coming out of Boulder Creek, pulled over, and saw where it was on Google Maps. Ended up turning around right there, a much better spot than at the closure itself, and saving a good bit of time.

Smooth return trip yesterday, except when it wasn't. I5 is in terrible condition along several stretches, and just pounded the suspension on the van and trailer. I let my friend drive for a couple hours, and instead of using the smooth fast lane when he could, he just stayed in the torn up slow lane. Nice to get a break driving, but not if it means breaking everything else.

He was just awake hacking up a lung coughing, now he's snoring his head off. God love him, I'll be happy to get some peace and quiet after he heads home this morning.

Still no word from the trailer people on a final bill; I'm in no hurry to get one.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Good morning
44 and overcast going to low 60’s and partly cloudy.

Yesterday kept me busy, did some cleanup and paperwork, went to airport and moved my dead friends plane to a different hangar for the buyers, so his hangar can be cleaned out. I wanted to buy a bead blast cabinet from his widow, but she won’t take my money, not sure what I should do.
Got all the pastures mowed, created a repair job for my self when I caught a gate with the tractor. At least the tractor is unscathed. Moved some hay to the barn, as much as I felt like, but not as much as I should have.
Uneventful airport authority meeting, I went in person, rather than zoom for a change.

Today will be off to Palm Beach, hopefully back home by mid afternoon in time to move some more hay from the shed to the barn. And get the trash and recycling to the street.

I am a proponent of consumption taxes rather than income taxes. Encourages people to save and be prosperous, generally applied more equitable without deductions and loopholes.

Here in PA, I pay Federal and state income taxes, local earned income tax, local and county real estate taxes, and school tax. And of course taxes on fuel, electricity, internet, etc.

While it is easy to blame the schools for the failure of the parents to properly raise their children and instill admirable values in them, I don’t think that they actually have the ability to make up for the parents failure, regardless of policies.

Last night I told someone the same thing. Bring back discipline in schools. Bring back basic teaching of math, science, reading and writing. Get rid of troublemakers. Unfortunately there are way too many disruptive students, and too many teachers with weird ideas. The answer isn’t to build new building after new building. Take care of and maintain the old buildings.
We, as a nation, have lost our way.

Important point. The ones that won’t try and saying the system is against them are just following what they have been told. The underlying cause is broken homes, no family support structure.

Hope your trip goes well and fence isn’t too damaged.

I looked out the window and we were getting a lot of snow, a blizzard. Then I woke up. 😂
But I did have that dream.
I taught class at church last night, it went well.
Today will be get ready for a trip, son will hold down the fort at home. Will follow Drew down I81, but he has a head start and we not going as far down today. Since the road thru harpers ferry has been closed for months, I usually go I70 to I81. But, I might try the route via the detour that Drew missed. I know the detour road but haven’t been on it for years. Drew showed me his planned route to get off at Brunswick before reaching the detour, and head south on 287 to VA Rt7, but he missed the exit. Easy to do when you don’t know the area. Even that route gets confusing with 3 or 4 traffic circles.

Morning all, 42 going up to 65.
More resting after work, not getting much done around the house, bad night again.

Neighbor who put house up for sale last week has a pending sign out, he asked double what we paid for our house. Same house size and land. Crazy market.
So many less trees.
