Pretty good day. Roof over new diesel storage area.
Interesting: 6 pieces of repurposed roofing of various sizes, 3 partial rattle cans of a couple shades of blue. Takes a bit longer than the new stuff but should do the job quite nicely.

Progress, on a multi colored basis! Count me in as wondering if you should plant some coffee bean trees on the part of your place you don't utilize much... I've seen Hawaiian coffee sell for $50/lb That would incentivise me. :)

The Alamo was mostly defended by American colonists and volunteers, there were a few Tejanos left, but most abandoned the other defenders on a promise of amnesty from Santa Ana. There were also a few black slaves.
It was one of the lessons taught us in special forces training, about trusting locals in battle. Thankfully the the Montagnards were dependable. It was we that abandoned them.

Last time I look it was 25°. Got driveway plowed it didn't take as long as yesterday, only about two and a half hours. We had light snow all day about 2 more inches.

Lynn ... Thanks , the way I figure it I'm about 80 miles southeast of you.

I could save this for tomorrow.....

I didn稚 cut wood today. Got a panic visit from the new neighbors up the road. A corner of my property abuts a corner of their property. Seems they went for a walk in the woods and were in a panic because several of their dead ash trees fell on my property. They offered to cut them up so the mess could be removed.

I told them I burn wood and was going to cut the trees up and use them. They offered to cut them up for me since it is their trees that fell. I told them that would be awesome, I would help them and split the wood on the spot. So we are gonna work together to clean up the mess. Told them I would be willing to clean up any other wood they want to get rid of and they were thrilled to find someone to help them clear out some downed trees! Excellent.

Spent a lot of time working on a BSA transmission today. It is from a 1952 M model which is a pre-war design. Seems an obscure shim was missing and a spacer was not the correct thickness. The shims I ordered were incorrect, but a discarded beer can from the side of the road provided shim stock. A lot of trial and error found a couple of spacer to go with the home made shims got everything working like it should. Turns free and shifts decent since I shortened the one decent spring.

Then took my wife to dinner.....it has been a good day

Thanks Kyle.
I’ll decline on the coffee adventure, waaaay too much work.
Besides the growing of the trees and all that entails, each berry has to be picked individually (they ripen individually as opposed to clusters) once picked there are multiple processing steps to get to dried bean, parchment stage for further processing. Pretty good overview here: Coffee production - Wikipedia

The picking is very labor intensive and is done on a continuous basis as ripening takes place over a period of time. Getting, steady, reliable pickers is a major challenge. We do have friends that just grow their own, others that sold out and moved, others still new and excited. Me, I’m just not interested in that much work.

In the mid 80s I managed a construction project at Lackland. Used to visit a lot, but only went to alamo once.

Good evening all. 36F for the start, overcast, light wind. Wind died off to occasional light puff, fog/drizzle moved in, high temp of 42F. Cleaned up and stoked the stove went for rain shortened bike ride, and got a nap, and walked the dog. Front moves in tomorrow, Monday still has 32F for the forecast, then warm up :).
RNG that was a really cool pic of the water fall.
I did vist more of the Texas high lights when I lived in Missouri, then I do now I am in Texas:confused2:

Somewhere by Ft. Bridger or Lyman?
I bought all my posts and lumber for the barn in my avatar from the Ayers sawmill.

Beautiful pics Cat. How do snowmobile pilots keep from getting decapitated from barbed wire?

It does happen, but usually I don't like to go until the snow is deep enough to cover the fences. Then always keep my eyes peeled for problems.
