"Leaves are still coming down but end in sight"
Same here. I have been using the EGO with the bagger to get the leaves up here. I have been doing it every 2 or 3 days. In the past I have mowed into the middle of December to get the last of the leaves.

The farmer harvested the soy beans at the farm yesterday.

The un completed house next door has a For Sale sign on it this morning. It is a big house 8000 sq ft. The old man died almost 2 years ago. The shell is in kind of rough shape. They are asking $775,000. We'll see.

Take care

Chris

what a lovely day
that went down the tubes
easy drive to Dennis' home, nice to meet his lovely wife who
baked some yummy blueberry muffins for us. I had two.
then we puttered around their beautiful place, in the back fields and down by their stream in his UTV.

contented and happy I headed out for the two hour drive down here to Front Royal. Knew all about road out and had directions to go around it. But I saw the exit for 17, which I had written down and like an idiot second guessed myself. Was looking for a detour sign which turned out to be much further and I carefully took that and followed all the detour signs.

when I wound up at the barricaded road (rockslides) I knew I had missed a turn on the posted detour and then got even more lost. I finally had to head back North to get to route 68 heading West to 81, and came down 81 to 66 which is exactly what I wanted to avoid. Sigh.

by the time I was done I had turned the rv around at least five times on these really small windy roads. The drop down to Harpers Ferry, where the closure was, is super steep. I went up and down those tiny windy roads at least three times, since every new attempt seemed to bring me back to the same place.

First I asked the garbage truck guy. He pointed in the right direction.
Another time I flashed my lights at this older lady who nicely stopped and asked how to get to 340. Oh, all the roads are closed.
yup, apparently more than we thought.
you have go back North quite a ways and cut over to 81.
double sigh.

which I did of course and it was fine.
what an adventure. I passed furnaces and battlegrounds,
probably drove through most of this county.

next time I will follow my written directions. Without real time like Waaz, the Garmin was my worst enemy, kept taking me back to the road that was blocked.

I believe I have earned and am going to have a nice glass of wine, or two, with dinner tonight.
Brother coming over in an hour.
reminds me, need to chill the wine.
cooking vegan spring rolls in toaster oven as hot apps.
drink and munchies before we go out to dinner.

I have pics but have to post later.
all's well that ends well

Glad you got there. Looks like you went up 67 to Boonsboro, then caught 68 over to I81. That was the long route. Not sure why your GPS didn't take you down the road to the Left at the detour, at the Exxon station.
Have a good dinner, and thanks again for stopping by.

Don't despair Drew. That happened a lot to me in my travels while "ground" truthing sattelite imagery. Especially when solo and in Germany. Never got REALLY lost, just spent a lot of time doing recon.

Same thing happened to me up in PA leaving popgadget's place. I missed a turn because Waze was trying to take me down to the toll road which I didn't want, then I turned up another road since I saw where waze was trying to take me, then I toured half the backroads around sellersville before I finally got to 309. Yep, we've all done it.

Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 15.3C and it's presently 24.5C, humid with high cloud cover and fairly calm. There was 1.0mm of rain in the gauge.

The trip into town was successful plus I needed to make a 'driver's medical' appointment (annual) due to my having Type II diabetes.

No wood stacking yesterday as, every time I was prepared to get at it, it rained. Oh, well. The last of the wood delivery was completed this morning so I'll see what I can accomplish prior to a Parrish Council meeting late this arvo @ 1630.

That's about it, take care all.

had a nice dinner with brother and wife at Element in Front Royal.
Fairly limited menu but very good; beef tips were like three small filets.
I brought one home for a sandwich.

very hard driving here at night when you don't know where you are going. Even my brother's nav system in his car was marginal

got the drone up for a few minutes
had to get a pic of the TBN coffee mug
only the privileged few have them

50F and clear @ 19:45, headed down to around 48F for the low overnight (but rising to around 60F before it does) Low this morning was 36.7F. High today was 56.7F. Reasonably pleasant.

Some rain moving in later as a cold front comes through. Clearing out by tomorrow afternoon with highs in the mid-50's.

Ten Day now includes 2 days at the tail end with highs around 60F ... (y)

Spent the afternoon grinding up leaves in the back and on the west side down here around the house. Almost no wind. Got that mostly done ... for now anyways ... ;)

Still need to do some work with the hand-held leaf blower to clean out the beds and grind up what's left on the east side. As well as finishing the front.

Woman wants the whole house vacuum unit pulled down off the wall and inspected. The precipitating event for this was the vacuum quit running while She was vacuuming. This is periodic phenomena ... probably owing to the poor connection setup of the low-voltage control wires at the unit that turns the motor on when one of the flaps is opened to connect the hose.

In investigating that She noticed what seemed to be oil on the exterior of the case. Not really sure what that is but the motor itself is sealed and personally I don't think that whatever is on it is from the vacuum itself ... but the brushes in the motor are replaceable and are supposed to be checked every 5 years. So it's probably (over) due.

At any rate, the initial request was to take it down so She "could take (the entire unit) in to have it 'serviced' ..."

Yeah, no ... we ain't doing that ... since there really isn't any service to be done to it beyond replacing the brushes which I can do.

Need to finish up large Menards order and get that placed so I can pick it up in the next few days while it's chilly and wet outside. Will include a 50A or 60A sub panel for the garage so I can get the outlet for the Unisaw wired up and get it connected.

Hope everyone had a decent Wednesday ... (y)

Looks like the book banners got defeated in local elections

Indeed.

As of 2022 anyways, many of the bans (across the nation) appear to involve books in which minorities or people of color serve as primary or secondary characters:

Pa. school district leads nation with most banned books: report

And Ohio now has legal marijuana.

Imagine that ... :oops:

Takes effect in 30 days.

Quick RS, stop planting all those strawberries, you've got something better to grow! ;) :cool:

Would probably be more economically rewarding than strawberries ... ;)

49 outside this AM, heading to mid 60's.

Household chores on the agenda today. Maybe screw in the final metal panels for the Milk House. Sealed the concrete floor the last two days. Used some cheap Behr sealant. Looks to be really nice. Made the concrete and all the patches really pop. May get to walk in there today around noon.

Need to collect firewood and waiting on a call back for the pool closing. Just a little behind on both.

Have a great day all. Be safe. Those ailing, positive thoughts your way. Safe travels for those on the move.
With all the bullets flying, you might want to sleep in the unfinished milk house. I despise idiots who don't handle and operate guns safely. Same with those with mean dogs.

Sorry about the long wait scaredy to get things settled.
The number one reason that people move out of this active retirement neighborhood is to be closer to their kids when they no longer are active. So you may want to keep that in mind if you have to move, you would be a step ahead. You would just have to figure out which kid to move closer to.
Good advice. Scaredy is there a reason she would drag this out? Is she benefitting from postponing it?

My brother's ex, did this to him. Even after they were divorced, she "milked" him for a long time.

I noticed my county/school property taxes were down about 30% and then noticed in small print on the back that there will be another tax bill coming if a proposition fails. Apparently enough people saw the small print and proposition 4 passed yesterday. That's a good thing, now just waiting to see how they make up the property tax money deficit in their budget.

Anybody else in Texas notice a property tax decrease this year around 30%?
Yes, I wasn't sure if the amendment didn't pass, that we would have lost our discount?

But please shush y'all. Don't tell anyone else about this discount until y'all get here. Only y'all are welcome to move here, don't let the word out to others. they are already flocking in from all sides, except maybe from the Gulf of Texas side. (actually, if I'd written the bill, I would have put a clause in there that recent move ins only get "vested" into the discount 10% per year. They have to be here, paying property taxes directly for 10 years to realize the full advantage.) LOL swear I'm not drinking.

One buddy called me and said his doctor told him he was ill with diabetes, and prescribed metformin 1000mg daily. His mom is too. They both have been on a Keto diet multiple times in their lives....I wonder if that could possibly play a role in it??? Another buddy called me and sadly told me his brother of only 54 years old died in an unexpected death in a motorcycle offroad competition in San Juan, Argentina. I'm really sad about it. The logistics of dealing with this is enormous. Parents in South Africa, brother lived in Belgium. He's grief stricken. Things to pray about. In the old days, bad news like this could take over a month to reach the family.

I took an extra long lunch to go to the auto salvage yard where you can peruse and "pick your own parts". Not sure why, but I like looking for parts in junk yards. Did not find what I was looking for, but found some things I might go back for on Friday or Saturday when they are having a 50% off sale. (I think they make up the prices anyway depending on how they feel, or how poor I look when I go through the check out line.)

Rain tomorrow. Yard is mowed thanks to son.

An old saying, "Money don't grow on trees" is not totally right or wrong, (it grows on shrubs), where ever they've legalized.

Prayers for Buppies and wife. And for those in need. ******, and Ukraine.

Good evening all. 66ºF for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. moderate wind, mostly clear sky, and high temp was 84ºF. Front has gone through here, temp already down to 67ºF. Men's Meeting to start day, then bike ride, then lunch. After lunch chimney sweep called to show up 1 hour early, which was fine. Nap and fill wood wagon wood pile maintenance to finish day. Most lost in CA, going to BIL memorial service, We left for service from restaurant instead of hotel, and GPS rerouted. Turns out there were emergency exits that GPS thought were through roads. That's a good thing, now just waiting to see how they make up the property tax money deficit in their budget.
The ISD’s won’t have a budget deficit due to the passage of Prop 4 because the State is using surplus funds to buy down the taxes. Also some of the cuts are temporary. Schools are actually getting more money from the state the next biennium. Prop 4 will be very helpful in several ways. But we still need to agree on a way to eliminate property tax completely. Starting with homesteads.

Opinion: we really need some legal restrictions put on school spending limiting schools based on student academic performance. IOW, if student performance drops or doesn’t meet expectations, they don’t get to build that new stadium or the superintendent‘s salary gets cut.

An old saying, "Money don't grow on trees" is not totally right or wrong, (it grows on shrubs), where ever they've legalized.
But remember what the rally cry has always been for legalizing it; “if we just legalize it we can tax it. It will pay for everything.“

What a joke.

Years ago we were up around Flagstaff AZ, major construction on the highway. Google Maps apparently not updated properly kept making me take a detour that went nowhere. Frustrating.

How did y'all know it was allergy and not infection?

Sounds like a good mower.

Prayers for you Buppies.

And just like that, it's basketball season for son....off to practice.

Yes, I am 100 % satisfied
May be I am a bit of a fanboy of Husqvarna / Gardena but I have found almost all of their products really good. Fiskars, too
Thou chainsaw I have Italian - Oleomac 😁

Don't know how how those brands are available in USA. In this forum I havent come across topic about robotic mowers (frankly - havent looked) but imho that should be rather popular thread
That make me wonder, how popular those things are at USA

~~~~~~~~~~~~
+1 for Buppies
Other than that - not any big movements. Going on with new office, arrived guys to install glass dividing walls. Making list of materials for lightning protection. Actually will be cheaper that I thought
Already moving some junk from old office to new. There are things might be useful or have some value. But they are laying for 5 - 10 years without movement.
Just drop them in big box for metal scrap...
Drinking hot cup of coffee. 38° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 51° with mostly sunny skies. .47" of rain yesterday. It was a nasty cold, windy and wet day. Sure brought the leaves down of the trees with leaves on them. Did not get anything done on barn doors. Grocery shopping this morning. Then will see what I will get done afterwards.
Everyone stay well and safe.
Good Morning All.
Good morning, the low is 27 and the high up to 36°F. Wind E 13 gusting to 22 mph. Flurries or rain.
Snowing right now, there is 3"+ on the deck. The block heater for the tractor is turned on and the wood stove is burning again.
My routine in the morning after a P is to check on the security cameras to see how much snow we got overnight, then turn on the outside lights and ACTUALLY see what I need to deal with. Then it is into the basement to re-fire the wood furnace affectionately called a wood stove, then come back upstairs and post on TBN.
Today is dump run day as well as a trip to Sundridge (bigger grocery store). I will get at that after I plow. The dump is 2 miles west of my place so I will do that, then drop off the trailer at home then go shopping. Need another 10 gallons of high test gas for the small engines. I will incorporate that into the trip, too.
The main reason I do not take the trailer to town is no lights. There is no light cord plug on the Dodge and wont be until next year.
As for GPS and Garmin, I don't have one and will never have one as long as I can read a map.
That is about it for today.
Have a safe day all
