quiet trip down to Tractor Supply, picked up three gallons of pink antifreeze for rv, and three cans of Sea Foam
they had a larger size can of Sea Foam marked for trucks and rvs, but I did the cost per ounce in my head and it was about 5 percent more expensive per
ounce than the just buying two smaller cans. Stuff is pricey enough already.
Filled up with premium at Wawa on way home, reg was 3.69; prem 4.19
sure would like the E-0 pump like at Buc-ees. Not here for sure

grey day out
headed back out to wash the car
and maybe fool around with rv toilet.

Like others have said. As we get older loosing family and friends seems to be a common thing. I have hard time dealing with this. Yesterday’s get together was hosted by a neighbor who lost her husband 3 years ago. Every year since his passing she has done the get together on day he died. No tears. Just a good time to enjoy each other’s company. Her husband would approve.

Have been pushing to get a number of things done outside before the warm days were gone ... so I opted to forego posting here much in the last month or so.
Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 44 to start going to 58 or 60 ! Fall really came in a big way last night and today ! Back to sweatshirts and jackets !

rswyan, glad to have you back, and your lawn looks great. Wondering what you use to kill weeds off in your lawn ? Both our residences in Ct and Vt, the grass has been growing in a big way all summer into fall, where in previous years things were brown from the summer heat, at least in Ct !

Up early for the 8am church service, not many people attending this morning. I think most of our parishioners opt for the 10am service !

BEF, nice picture 20 years later of your son growing into manhood at the same spot !

Drew, sorry to hear about your loss of friend and former business partner ! Our prayers !

Phil, as usual , beautiful work on your part on lamp etc !

Kyle, I could really go for some of that $2.96 priced gas !:)

Thomas, hope your trip across the border went well yesterday !

Today it looks like I will be doing some work reorganizing our garage in Ct. We bought a new refrigerator that will be going out in the garage to replace the one thats out there and on its way out. Supposed to be here and delivered on friday !We also purchased two new storage cabinets for canned goods, 36" by 6' tall off of Amazon.

Youngest son and DIL have a weeding to attend later today, so we will be hosting two of our grands this afternoon and evening ! That should be fun !:)

Maybe some football later today !

Hope all all have blessed and safe day !

69°F and no rain.

Took a chance and realigned my Ubiquiti antennas at the cottage. Able to get a good strong signal and internet with current configuration. My thinking being the replacement part deals with house side distribution with minimal effect at cottage. Hope I’m right.

Maybe watch some football today.

Maybe make a dump run

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

39 again this morning, furnace was run too. Shop build is about done, still waiting on the heater, car lift and high lift roll-up doors. While pricey, the door company has at least put me on their schedule - for the 17th. good news. Been shopping FB MP, for used cabinets and have starting putting "shop stuff" away, in the shop. While nice. the new "garage type" ones are too damned expensive, for me. Also got the outside antenna run, (finally got the nerve to drill through the new metal walls) not up high on the building, but its pulling in all the FM stations I get in the Jeep. Helped the SIL/daughter/grandkids with firewood splitting yesterday. SIL went hunting about 5, daughter kept running the splitter after I also left about 5. She didn't lose any fingers and is a real trooper... I'm heading over there now, to get the last BIG round done, and my splitter back. :)

Was 40 with frost on the roof before sunrise. Only going to 64, but pure blue sky again. We have only one or two hummingbirds left, both wearing jackets this morning .;)

Didn't follow the plan yesterday...put most everything off so my wife and I could take a nice fall hike. Then sat out in the Adirondack chairs for sunset and watched an owl fly up and land on a branch near us.

BEF, cool comparo pix of your son. Did you drive from that point all the way to your property via BRP?
No we hit BRP after visiting the lot. Went up US60, then north. Got off at 56. I wanted to take him to Crozet tunnel, but too late in the day, and no flashlights with us. I’ll probably go down this week by myself to mow.

rswyan, glad to have you back, and your lawn looks great.

Thanks.

Lawn looks decent from a distance ... just don't get too close ... ;)

lol

Wondering what you use to kill weeds off in your lawn ?

In the past I have used 2,4D, regular Trimec, and Trimec 899. Still have some of the 899 left I believe.

Last year I purchased a generic equivalent of Tenacity on Amazon. The brand was "Liquid Harvest". Around $90 for a pint IIRC.

The active ingredient is Mesotrione ... a (organic) compound synthesized from Leptospermone, another organic compound that is obtained from the Bottle Brush plant.

It is an HPPD inhibitor.

Was recommended to me by a friend here whose lawn looks fantastic.

Part of the appeal was that it is "organic" ... although I don't think I'd be drinking any ... ;)

The other aspect was that it's pretty concentrated: mixing ratio is 4 - 8 ounces to 30 gallons of water + a surfactant IIRC. The ratio varies according to what type of grass you're applying it to, some types are more sensitive than others.

That's what I'll be using next year.

Both our residences in Ct and Vt, the grass has been growing in a big way all summer into fall, where in previous years things were brown from the summer heat, at least in Ct !

Good luck on the garage reorganization.

Currently 52F and mostly cloudy @ 14:00, calling for a high of 54F. Low here this morning was 38.3F. Brrr.

The next 3 days are supposed to be fairly nice (dry) but on the cool side with highs only in the 60's. After that they are calling for 5 days with the possibility of rain.

A while back I got two of the circles of lawn edging installed around the red maple and Japanese ornamental cherry to prevent root intrusion around their bases.

Mulched and watered as well, along with all the rest of the trees and shrubs. Both trees seem to be doing well, with the maple (above) doing better than the cherry.

Still have another 6 edging rings to install.

Neighbor's sugar maple looking very nice this year:

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Sunday ... (y)

got bored being inside and went out and washed the car.
Now starting the multi hour process of making rv reservations for November trip to S Florida.
First stop Front Royal VA, where I spend a day with my brother in Markham, then Penhook VA, working on next stop in SC.
lot of places in MidAtlantic shut down Nov 1 or even earlier.
So I have to hunt around until I get below VA, then most places stay open all year round.

Be careful returning the rig. Hope the journey fires up.
Journey fired right up. Battery only 2 years old.

As per MTO/DoT rules I had to 'pre-trip' the tractor to make sure the wheels didn't fall off it in the driveway, then bob-tail to where the trailers were at, pin them and yet another pre-trip on them. The company pays me 45 minutes for this. $26.07 is pretty easy money.
The drive itself was real easy all the way, charged the company 5 hours. Ran at about 5 kms over the limit all the way down, but don't forget that I am hamstrung at 104 k/h.

Averaged 27 m/U.S.gal. on the way home. After I got on the 4 lane divided highway (Hwy 11 check), I ran a steady 70 mph (112 kph) until I got into the 70 mph zone then all h3ll broke loose and bumped it up to 77 mph. I was getting passed less frequently than when I was doing the slower speed. My theory is that I still have a license to protect...3 points off my license and I MUST do a medical AND written test AND a road test in the vehicle size and dimensions I normally drive. I don't think there are too many Super 'B' train qualified examiners out there.

I left the house at 02:45 and arrived in Markham at 07:45, all backed into its' parking spot (straight) for the next couple of days.
It rained most of the way down there and snowed on the way back, still snowing here. Those speeds on Continental summer tires. Another week or so and I will have the snows on.

would you come down and get bored at my house, my cars could use it. 😂

wife want's to get another camping trip in this month. Nov1 is usually the shutdown here so they can drain their water lines for the non permanent RV's.
