rswyan, glad to have you back, and your lawn looks great.

Thanks.

Lawn looks decent from a distance ... just don't get too close ... ;)

lol

Wondering what you use to kill weeds off in your lawn ?

In the past I have used 2,4D, regular Trimec, and Trimec 899. Still have some of the 899 left I believe.

Last year I purchased a generic equivalent of Tenacity on Amazon. The brand was "Liquid Harvest". Around $90 for a pint IIRC.

The active ingredient is Mesotrione ... a (organic) compound synthesized from Leptospermone, another organic compound that is obtained from the Bottle Brush plant.

It is an HPPD inhibitor.

Was recommended to me by a friend here whose lawn looks fantastic.

Part of the appeal was that it is "organic" ... although I don't think I'd be drinking any ... ;)

The other aspect was that it's pretty concentrated: mixing ratio is 4 - 8 ounces to 30 gallons of water + a surfactant IIRC. The ratio varies according to what type of grass you're applying it to, some types are more sensitive than others.

That's what I'll be using next year.

Both our residences in Ct and Vt, the grass has been growing in a big way all summer into fall, where in previous years things were brown from the summer heat, at least in Ct !

Good luck on the garage reorganization.

Currently 52F and mostly cloudy @ 14:00, calling for a high of 54F. Low here this morning was 38.3F. Brrr.

The next 3 days are supposed to be fairly nice (dry) but on the cool side with highs only in the 60's. After that they are calling for 5 days with the possibility of rain.

A while back I got two of the circles of lawn edging installed around the red maple and Japanese ornamental cherry to prevent root intrusion around their bases.

Mulched and watered as well, along with all the rest of the trees and shrubs. Both trees seem to be doing well, with the maple (above) doing better than the cherry.

Still have another 6 edging rings to install.

Neighbor's sugar maple looking very nice this year:

got bored being inside and went out and washed the car.
Now starting the multi hour process of making rv reservations for November trip to S Florida.
First stop Front Royal VA, where I spend a day with my brother in Markham, then Penhook VA, working on next stop in SC.
lot of places in MidAtlantic shut down Nov 1 or even earlier.
So I have to hunt around until I get below VA, then most places stay open all year round.

Be careful returning the rig. Hope the journey fires up.
Journey fired right up. Battery only 2 years old.

As per MTO/DoT rules I had to 'pre-trip' the tractor to make sure the wheels didn't fall off it in the driveway, then bob-tail to where the trailers were at, pin them and yet another pre-trip on them. The company pays me 45 minutes for this. $26.07 is pretty easy money.
The drive itself was real easy all the way, charged the company 5 hours. Ran at about 5 kms over the limit all the way down, but don't forget that I am hamstrung at 104 k/h.

Averaged 27 m/U.S.gal. on the way home. After I got on the 4 lane divided highway (Hwy 11 check), I ran a steady 70 mph (112 kph) until I got into the 70 mph zone then all h3ll broke loose and bumped it up to 77 mph. I was getting passed less frequently than when I was doing the slower speed. My theory is that I still have a license to protect...3 points off my license and I MUST do a medical AND written test AND a road test in the vehicle size and dimensions I normally drive. I don't think there are too many Super 'B' train qualified examiners out there.

I left the house at 02:45 and arrived in Markham at 07:45, all backed into its' parking spot (straight) for the next couple of days.
It rained most of the way down there and snowed on the way back, still snowing here. Those speeds on Continental summer tires. Another week or so and I will have the snows on.

wife want's to get another camping trip in this month. Nov1 is usually the shutdown here so they can drain their water lines for the non permanent RV's.
