Good morning!!!!

today's drive was challenging and not much fun once I left the Virginia country and got into suburban/urban Virginia and Maryland.
But nothing broke and gas was relatively cheap, filling up for 3.39 for regular. I topped off with premium when I got here since it was under 4 bucks.

The V10 Ford engine makes an odd noise I'm hoping is not detonation. I've tried every kind of fuel in it, makes the same noise, so the heck with it, might as well use regular. It's what they call for. I need to ride with a mechanic. It's under what I think is full vacuum. Vacuum is making something make a funny noise and when I either speed up or take my foot off the gas it goes away. like a hissing, pulsing noise, but not a mechanical tap or knock. EGR valve? Engine runs fine. But maybe it could run better.

Boom
Boom
Boom
pretty cool here, this area is pretty secluded since most folks don't want to live near the serious military installations here, unless they work here. There is all kinds of nasty stuff going on here.
zoom in on these pictures. And lots of big booms

my rv is the white circle over blue dot on far left of second pic
The Aberdeen proving ground has its own peculiar buildings.
I think if Popgadget landed his plane on either of these runways, he would need more than a lawyer. We'd all have to make bail... ;)
Drew, all of the ambulances at work at one time were those V-10's..... When you "punched it" (which happens frequently) the vacuum would pull so hard that it would shut off the air conditioner and divert all the air through the defroster.....

That 'noise' is normal for those engines. Also the unbelievable rpm they would turn to get up to speed.

They didn't discontinue it for no reason....

But, they were relatively reliable for a few hundred thousand miles.

Still working on the addition.....
I'm just doing a few tasks that are more of a time consuming job vs. a hard job. Example: cutting/ ripping the wood siding trim. Need that done for the corners and windows.
Another task is to dismantle the "bump out" and window. If I knew that I would be taking it apart..... I definitely wouldn't have built it as strong.... I think it's the most solid part of the entire house!

Glued, screwed, nailed, caulked, and painted...... each layer providing strength and subsequent frustration!

I'm only able to do a few hours of work.... spread out over the day.... so slow going. The knee won't have it any other way. The wifey says she doesn't care how long it takes.....

Anotherround of mowing finished

Using the Mower Plus app interesting
Able to get size of area mowed as well as things like, time, speed, miles.
Hoping eventually I can get some accurate size data.

Years ago I had a neat app, that allowed me to trace an area and it reported size. Sadly the app is no more. Anyone know of an alternative?
Here is a composite I made

Now you have to do the rebound test with ball bearing ball
I did that before buying! Tested around 6 in two different shops before finding this one — it had just come in, shop owner said he just put it on the stand about 2 hours earlier! He has several other anvils there, including a railroad anvil over 800lbs which is not for sale. But this one was not too big, not to small, and just sings. Even Mrs could notice the difference when I was dropping the ball on it.

There is also a tinner’s anvil which I thought was intriguing, not a lot of central mass but a very long, narrow horn and flat - it is almost 30 inches long, but only about 3 inches at its widest, and mounts in a stump with a long vertical spoiler instead of a flat foot. But what I need first are some hardies and stages before getting that anvil - I really do not expect it to move quickly….

Drizzly yucky day, but drove to the farm. Been awhile.
Did stop in WV to look at some land that had intrigued me, but pretty steep and asking price steeper. And terrible “public” road into it. A paved road that hasn’t seen a paver in 30 yrs. Patches on patches. Then when I hit the gravel road, more like a pond. The owner lived near me and passed, and heirs are selling.
Lot steeper than pics show. 15 acres, 8 acre field.

Dads house has moth infestation. I had to vacuum the room I stay in, walls, ceiling, floor. Few still flying around.
Leaves are turning and falling.

I stopped and got a pizza on the way. got to dads, door was locked, so I rang the bell, left pizza on a table on porch, went to car to get my bags. Dad comes out , takes pizza in, closes and locks the door. I come back to locked door, rang bell several times, knocked on door finally he came and unlocked door. 😂
He’s doing ok.

Here is one of mine a Haybudden NY anvil forged 225 lbs over 100 years old
