66 outside right now, heading to mid 90's. 88% humidity. A far cry from yesterdays most awesome weather. Looks like this week is going to be a hot one. Sigh. Need rain. Officially in a declared drought now. I think we are 5 inches below where we should be. Everything in my area is crispy and browning out. A noticeable difference to the eye.

Relocating bricks is the order of the day. Then need to spend a lot of time with the shop-vac in the attic. Should be an interesting day.

Hope all have a great start to the week. Be safe, those ailing, wishing you better health.

it seems we are down 22% from last year
I have no doubt that is cyclical and not proof of impending ecological doom...

guess the watering hose will be used a lot in the next week.
I got everything watered yesterday and will have to do it again tomorrow morning.
raised beds dry out faster in high heat

we average 42-46 inches of rain here. In coastal NC it was closer to 70".
lot of rain means a lot of crops without need for irrigation

I read somewhere the retirement habits in future might change as folks try to avoid
bad weather. Less folks going to Florida.
I think they are all headed for Austin.
I bet for locals all the growth must be unsettling there.
but big business is coming in.

folks need power and they need water. Sometimes not enough of that to go around.
and now politics are at play, California, Texas, Florida, they all are controversial.
feeling rather fortunate in Mid Atlantic with my toe in New England.

Good Morning
73 going to high 80’s under a clear sky again.

Yesterday I spent more time than I should have with the new computer.
Later in the day a friend who is getting back into RC flying wanted me to “babysit” him while he made his first flights, he was fine.
Helped son troubleshoot the igniters on his new to him Lynx grill. They sure are well made but should be for what a new one costs. They can be a very good value if you get a used one though. They last forever, cast bronze burners and all welded heavy gauge stainless. We got it going, he is very happy.

Today will be a salmon and steak dinner for youngest sons birthday. He picks the menu and the whole family gets together.
Son and grandson just arrived, I’ve got to go curb Zoe’s enthusiasm for guests.

Good Morning!!!! 62F @ 7:00AM. Cloudy skies this morning will become partly cloudy this afternoon. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 77F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Cloudy all day yesterday, and didn't even make it out of the 70s. Like a fall preview. We did get 0.05" in the wee hours this morning, enough to wake me up. No more rain in the 10-day, and we'll be back in the 90s by mid week. Indian Summer, or is that no longer PC?

No real work on the trailer yesterday, but did sort through a foot locker the PO left inside. Some clothes, both too big and too small to fit, eight ratchet straps, and almost a dozen huge, like 3' across, rubber bands. Oh, and a pair of Skull Candy headphones. Scratching my head over the bands and straps, as there are no tie down anchors in the trailer. There will be before I start using it. Also got a lot packed into the van. A 24' extension ladder, 8' step ladder, 42" plasma TV, a pair of original Advent Loudspeakers, lots of speaker wire, a masking paper machine, some furniture, and a bunch of stuff I'll remember when it gets unloaded on the other end. Still have room for more stuff I'll get sorted out today.

And maybe take a look at those trailer brakes. Big maybe.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of thier weekend...

Morning all, 77 going to 91 and sunny.
Family trip to the big mall today, might meet up with another family we know.
Did I ever say that I hate malls?

BEF - I don't have to worry about my Forsythia getting out of control. The deer keep them heavily trimmed :-(

Great picture PJ - Good to see you out having fun on your Anniversary!

Drew - testers glue, like for models, works great on plastic as it fuses the pieces, superglue won't do that on some plastics.

PopGadget - happy birthday to your son.

Yesterday after sons 5k and record store visit we went and bought his birthday present for next week. Took dog to peddlars village after she had a much needed bath..

Mini-split delayed again, no surprise, email from trucking company, again, saying they are investigating. Only thing I think they on investigating is if there email works. OnTrac is offtrack.

Be well,

Good morning! Low of 57°, going up to 86°. No rain, just baking sun. Not even a cloud..... makes for a beautiful blue sky!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! To Mr. and Mrs. PJ !!

Buppies, enjoy your time in SC. ..... aaaahhhh, sitting on the beach.....

Drew, neat kitchen tool..... I thought eating corn on the cob was supposed to be messy?

RNG, have continued fun loading the van..... just remember it has to come back out.....

Wng, nice pic of the hiking area. Good that you got a chance to hike with your son.

Dennis, nope.... not going to name a horse.... the neighbors horses are named.... I'll leave them all around us.... they do all the work, we get to look at them!

Today's agenda is to get the shrub dug up and transplanted. I soaked down the areas that have to be dug....hopefully it will make it easier. The ground is rock hard.....

Everyone have a pleas day!

81F and supposedly mostly cloudy @ 12:00 ... sure seeing a lot of sun here though. Heading up to around 85F for the day's high but I bet we beat that. HI 85F, DP 69F, HU 65%, AQI 55. It will be a warm one.

On Friday I started removing the deer netting that we placed over the strawberries. What a PITA (plants and runners grow up through the netting) ... knew there was a reason why I didn't want to do that ... ;)

Then got 16 more strawberry plants that were started from runners planted in the ground, also a couple more runners pinned to pots ... which used up all the holes I had melted. Very good (and quick !) root development I'd say.

Think there is still another 3 or 4 plants left to do at this point.

Yesterday I got more of the netting removed (almost done) and another 32 runners pinned into pots and watered. Making the pins out of aluminum wire ties for chain link fence. Not even quite halfway yet.

Also weeded around the plants and watered the ones I worked on the runners on. Plants seem to be doing great but the ground really sucked up the water so I'll need to continue with that today.

Woman watered the rest of the garden when She got back from the yard sale and picked a bunch of tomatoes. BLT's probably on menu for today ...

She had made a pan of lasagne on Friday and She took that over to the yard sale and stuck it in the oven and then brought what they didn't eat home with Her. Was very tasty.

Monarch caterpillar has begun to pupate and is now in its cocoon.

Agenda for today:

Refill bird feeders.

More work on potting strawberry runners.

Move table in van to front then run to Menards and pick up fertilizer order.

Pick up gas for Cub while I'm out.

Area down here around the house about due for mowing again ... probably wait another day or so, will give me something to do when it's hot out.

Otherwise see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday ... (y)

I sure hope not.
Multiple Ky. schools close due to illness at start of new year

The positive cases and COVID deaths numbers stopped being reported but the deaths are still occuring.locally.

Like reports from China recently COVID like symptoms are being reported locally but they don't test positive.

Just because COVID cases are no longer reported doesn't mean it's gone. They are working to have an updated COVID vaccine out this month.

I've got a 82 yr old friend nearby. Lost the use of his industrial cart due to old dead batteries. They had pushed it into a container to sit like any collectable :p.
When I asked about it he said I could have it. So I took it home and put a set of used Trojan T145 in it (8/6v) and I'm bringing it back today.
Should be happy old man

Get a good charger for the batteries. The aluminum chargers that come with most carts. Boil the water away.

OnTrac? You mean LostTrack! The tires for the trailer I ordered last week didn't get here until 7PM, two hours past the delivery window. The driver looked like he just woke up from a 3 day binge, and he was driving a beat to crap GMC van from the last century that had more primer on it than paint. I had to drive a half hour to meet the LostTrac driver in a parking lot to take delivery of the aluminum bumpers I put on the old van. They wouldn't deliver to my home, and wouldn't refund the shipping charges. I dread getting OnTrack shipping info, as I know I'm in for a bad experience every time.

That's nice of you. I priced six 6 volt AGM batteries at O'Reilly's yesterday for $1400.

Got a system for that, too, Ted. Everything goes into the bonus room, so the van is unloaded right away. Then I open the boxes one by one and deal with the contents until all the boxes are empty. But because they're in the bonus room, they're out of the way, and out of sight, so I don't feel like I have to rush through putting everything away all at once.
