Took the lawn mower for a walk this afternoon, starting in the front yard. Got stung again in the same area where I got stung a couple weeks ago. Never was sure what got me last time, but it was quite evident today; I'd stirred up a bunch of ground hornets, and they were not happy with me. Got me a couple more times before I got away to the driveway, where another one got me on the inner bicep. Decided to call it a day, and went inside to assess the damage. While standing in the kitchen, another one that had ridden in under my shirt got me on the belly. Five in all (both legs, both arms, and belly), but could have been worse, I guess. Man, do those little boogers hurt.

Don, those are definitely good finds! That kitchen sink will bring a good price ---- those are some sought after sinks.

Have you decided what you are doing with the trailers? I may be interested in the 16' and 10'. Does the 16' have brakes?

Coffee is brewing. 52° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with clouds in afternoon. Did not move rocks yesterday. Will not do until weather is cooler. Puttered in shop and barn instead. Need to mow grass again today. Then will do some conserve energy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all
surprisingly cool 51 out now, that won't last

hope you folks in Texas get a break from this heat, though it looks like you are sending it this way next week.
Supposed to be 95 here on Labor Day.
And my godchild has a picnic she invited me to. Sounds sweaty to me.

spent part of yesterday afternoon building a new table for living room.
Was using a crappy plastic folding table made for rvs actually.
Well....now that table is going to rv, and this electrically height adjustable table took its place.
I wanted the height adjustable to raise flowers to window level.
basically it's a desk that can be used while standing also which apparently some folks like.

I was impressed by the fact they not only included spares, but even a little envelope marked spares.
table was beautifully packaged and heavy duty, pleased with it.

cut back a lot of dead tomato plant and will see if these final ones make it.
I have four eggplants getting ready to be picked.
I give them away, just not my thing

next year, less stuff in garden. Too much grew together, got moldy and buggy due to not enough air I guess getting in there.
plus it looks awful...

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

58F going to low 80s, clear all day.

Upon doing some internet research, it appears that the beam drill I acquired yesterday is a Swan drill. Other makes I have found include Ladd and Snell, but Swan drills seem to all have a distinctive double arch casting. There are two different styles of auger extraction racks, one of which rotates into engagement and the other which slides on alleyway and pivot (the type I have). I have not been able to date it more exactly and between 1850and 1900. It also doesn’t not take tapered square shank bits like a common hand auger, it takes 1/2” round shank ship augers that have a flat milled on the shank and are secured with a bolt. So I have to find some of those now.

Today will begin with a trip up to the woodlot for more wood splitting and excavator work, then return home for more house projects.

Happy Anniversary to the PJs!!!

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! to Mr. And Mrs. PJ. Hope you have many more trips together!

Kyle, can't complain about a raise.....

Kilroy, you sure do find some good stuff! When back east, we used to enjoy going around to 'barn sales'..... used to find all sorts of good stuff.... not to many interesting things to be found out here.

Started unloading the materials this morning..... about half way through, realized that the lumber I put on the bottom was the first lumber that I'll need....

I had a bundle of studs and a bundle of plates sitting on top of all the OSB sheathing, and strapped together.....
so, figured I'd use the tractor and lift each bundle out of the garage.
Then lean the 20 sheets of OSB up against the wall, get the 2x6's out from underneath.

First calamity was forgetting to lock in the bucket on the quick attach...... oops---- dropped the bucket in the garage on top of the lumber pile... that was fun getting it back on.....

🫨Got the bundles moved out, rearranged the lumber in the proper order, then went to move the bundles back on top..... until the strap holding one end of the bundle broke....
At least one held, put another strap around the loose end and cinched them back together.... OK, try again.

Got them into the garage and set down. Then while backing out.... caught the corner of the bucket lip on the garage door trim.... aaaarrrgggghhhh!!!

The only saving grace is I'll have plenty of material to repair it. It's only a small little 3/4" chunk on the edge, so might try to fill it vs. replace.

At that point it was time to quit while ahead......
It is harder to locate the good stuff because everything is so spread out out there… and the bulk of population shifting to your area happened 300 years later than out here in the East Doesn’t help!

Dinner was nice, we all had brisket. Mrs said that my brisket is still much better (this place is known for brisket and has multiple locations). I think it is because I goto the local premium meat packer and get the prime Grassfed/Grass-finished beef (which ain’t cheap!) while a restaurant buys in bulk and has to balance ingredient cost with what the traffic will bear.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 5:15AM. Partly to mostly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 76F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Almost the same forecast as yesterday, and like yesterday, the only rain on the radar is a fair distance to the east and moving to the NNE. My bet is today will also be dry, just like yesterday.

Don't feel bad, Ted, we all have days like that. Good plan you left that job for later, maybe after a good night's sleep? At least you didn't get nearly stung to death like Paul...

Sad news about Jimmy Buffet, Fritz. The world is less happy with him gone. Another one that died too young.

My friends showed up right on time yesterday morning, and we got right to work checking out the parts van to see if it would work for his project. Turns out it will. We made a pattern of the holes in the floor I'll need to duplicate on the other van, then got the headliner from the parts van fit into the other van. Nasty two man job I'd been dreading trying to do by myself. I suggested I trade the parts van for my friend's time helping get the blue van running and finished off to sell, and he seemed enthusiastic about the idea. I think it'll be a win-win.

Finished up the morning by loading two more motorcycles into the van, and the new tie down anchor worked out well. I loaded a few more things after they left, then made the adapter for the tire balancer and got one of the new trailer wheels balanced. Was about to put the tire back on the trailer when I remembered that the previous owner recommended that the brakes be replaced, so I'll see if I can figure out how to get the brake drum off today. Looks like I have to remove the outer wheel bearing?

Found the broken plastic handle off the wheel chock on the motorcycle lift, left laying on the workbench until I had time to make a new one. It wasn't dinner time yet, to I found a scrap piece of aluminum bar stock and started whittling on it in the lathe. Got most of it roughed out, but started losing my concentration and gave myself the rest of the day off. Time for dinner anyway.

Probably spend today packing more things into the van and monkeying with the trailer brakes. We'll see what else comes along.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

some of my fondest memories are listening to Bahamian reggae pop music intermixed with Jimmy Buffett, while cruising my boat slowly
through the Abacos. Buffett had both power and sailboats, one of them was visiting Washington NC for awhile and a local artist painted it.
It's on my kitchen wall. Bahamian blue
fair seas Jimmy.

Good morning.
62 going to 78 under a clear sky and gentle breeze. Yet another nice day.

Yesterday didn’t follow the plan. The FAA inspectors were a no show, they were called to an accident investigation.
Did a Costco run without my wife, brought home a 35” curved screen monitor for $129. Also got brisket and pork shoulders that I’m going to smoke to feed the the local VFD at their meeting this week. Some NY strip steaks for family dinner tomorrow night, and the usual sundry assortment.
When I got home Amazon had delivered my new computer, a compact Lenovo desktop with i9, 64gb RAM, 4TB SSD and 9TB 7200 rpm HDD.
I wanted the power for doing music production. Seems pretty fast so far, I’m adjusting to Win 11 though.

Had to give Zoe a bath she rolled in something and really stunk. There was no way to wrestle her into the tub, did a sponge bath on the tile floor.

Fed the boys meatballs and played music last night, got 24 tracks loaded into new computer from HDD recorder, much faster than before.

Not sure what to do today, not a lot of new chores, but plenty of old ones to choose from.

I had to look up I9, very nice. you could likely run a small city with it...
Paul, I'm sure you have a truly serious surge protector, or two, in front of it.

my pc keeps hanging up on videos. Keep having to reboot. Maybe a card issue.
Maybe time for an I9.... ;)

beautiful day out, time to go feed the hungry birds

   / Good morning!!!! #176,340
73 outside right now. Heading to mid 80's. 59% humidity. Absolutely perfect start this AM. Late start on the chores and getting out of bed. Super rare to go past 5AM. This morning it was 8AM.

Hope the morning crew heals and repairs things fast. We all have those days where either mother nature piles on or our work just gets the better of us. Keep at it.

Wife dragged me to a neighbors estate sale yesterday. Sad. All I could think of was not letting stuff accumulate. She picked up some stuff for the Milk House. I opted for nothing. I have the keep it simple bug...been that way for a while.

Anyway...on a cheerful note I will be swinging the hammers in a few. Today only...as the weather people are already freaking out about the next few days. Heat.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Get well to those in need.
