Finished the day by mowing the front yard. Walk behind mower. Empty the grass bag with a brisk hike up the hill to the dumpsters and repeat. Good bit of light exercise. The lawn is looking good in the cool weather we've had so far this year.
Watched a WWII documentary Normandy to Berlin. Those men amaze me with their courage, dedication, and sacrifice towards the objective. No wonder they call these men and women the greatest generation.
Ready to start another week.

73F and partly cloudy @ 00:15, heading down to around 66F for the overnight low.

Was rather warm and (thankfully) breezy today, but hot in the sun.

The fluffiness problem:

Solution: run over garden with Cub Cadet to pack it down:

IMG_2785 copy.jpg

Helped Woman move fabric off other side, then She folded it up.

Got entire garden run over and packed down with the Cub, the smoothed it out with the Kubota and box blade. Still a little left to do on that.

While I was doing that someone showed to browse the brush pile in back. Caught them just as they were heading off:

Started collecting the topsoil to screen for the pumpkin patch/food plot after that:

IMG_2790 copy.jpg

Got hit with a couple of drops from that storm up to the north in the background of the above picture but it didn't develop/last. No other rain than that here today.

Later I started working on screening more compost to replenish the screened material pile.

We headed over around 17:00 to collect the unsold stuff from the garage/yard sale. Made that a pretty quick trip. I did score 5 books on gardening/lawn care that were headed to Goodwill ... (y)

Once we got back I went back to screening while The Woman took a break and relaxed.

Got the screened compost pile mostly replenished:

And made a pretty good dent in the compost pile doing it:

Still plenty left though.

Worked until close to 21:00.

By that time legs and butt were killing me, so I knocked off and came on down to the house. Woman was out back weeding and watering ... :giggle:

She ran out of Neem oil earlier, says She is happy with it so I ordered some more this evening from Amazon, should be here later today.

Time to go close things up and secure for the night.

Hope everyone had a good Sunday ... (y)

Coffee is brewing. 62° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 68° with rain midday. Got all the limbs picked up and put on chipper pile. Morning rain never showed up. But evening thunderstorms made up for it. .83" of rain. Not sure what I will do today.
Going to be a good year for Lilies garden.

beautiful lily Ron
looks nice out now but that isn't going to last long, thunderstorms for most of day predicted
prediction is for large hail, hope not.

was cleaning up some paperwork on desk this morning and clearly my plans for today have changed.
found $64 in "bountiful bucks" coupons from Bountiful Acres in Lahaska, and they expire July 1.
Yikes, I'll be away then, so............off to nursery this morning to use up my coupons.

there are a lot of nice properties here, but Ted and RS have to get a prize for most amazing back yards. What a lot of work
both of you have done, totally different landscaping style.

I was chuckling thinking of RS handing his wife those free coupons. I think he would get lucky... ;)

have a safe enjoyable day, careful in the heat

71 going to 91 and t-storms later.

Don, nice video of the farm...you're pulling a bigger trailer than I realized.

Had a nice hike with the toads yesterday...counted 11 on the trail...must have been "Toads Get in Free" day.

Got home and dozed off watching baseball, so it was 93F before I got around to sawing the limbs dropped by the storms last week, and dragging them down the hill to the brush pile.

Need to do some mowing once the grass dries.

Good morning! 78˚F heading to 103˚, sunny, the heat is on.
Heading to the garden this morning to see how my new irrigation setting are doing. Drips 15 minutes every 8 hours, instead of every 12 hours. The cantelope are starting to bloom. I need to measure how tall my sunflower has grown.

Mostly and Kyle that was not me driving the tractor, I missed my 2 seconds of fame. Wngsprd, the trailer can seat 60 people with four benches on the length of the trailer and one bench on the width in the front.

I need to see If the farm will have an Eclipse Watch Party for the Great Texas Eclipse Event April 8th 2024. The "Farm" is on the edge of the path and is supposed to have one minute 46 seconds of darkness. Can't let a good outside event pass without exploiting it. The bakery can make moon pies and the band can play sun and moon songs.

Good looking van RNG. What will you be doing with the VW.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up to badly).
61.1F going to upper 80s. T-storms started about 2:30 AM, finished about 5 AM. Senior dog is highly traumatized by them, Harry could care less.

we have a tree guy coming to look at a couple up at the woodlot that are a bit to precarious for me to comfortably fell. The worst offender is very close to the shed…

IMG_0215.jpeg

There is also a loblolly pine on the slope above the shed, with exposed roots, and I really don’t need that taking a dive onto the roof:
IMG_0217.jpeg

The appointment is for 5PM-ish, so once there has been a bit of time for the ground to dry we will go up and set up tomato supports and start picking some choy leaves for stir fry dinner.

i hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!
