BEF, nice story about your Dad, did he smile for the pic? Sorry about the damage.

Damage is at dad’s house.

Dad was getting ready to go to bed last Tuesday when he got a knock on the door. He had to throw some clothes on. So a local Dr, who has done hay at dad’s before (dad sold him the round baler when he got rid of his cows) had brought another 96 yo WW2 vet out who wanted to meet dad. So they chatted awhile and took a picture, and this week it shows up in the local paper. Dad was barely dressed

The other vet on the left was in a wheelchair and the Dr. in the back. The Dr’s son and wife also came. His son likes to visit dad.

well I made it. What a tough 6 hour drive though from Ft Meyers to Flagler Beach, trying to get around Orlando. Huge roads turned into parking lots. My friends told me about a toll road that basically was a beltway around Orlando, and thankfully that helped, though it was all torn up for major construction. It seems like half the roads in FL are getting widened.

what a spot. Worth the money. Marvelous breeze, can't wait to look out my back window, will crack a window so I get the sound of the surf.

enjoying a cold beer, trying to relax.

I’ve been building a new door frame for my barn entry door. Old one pretty rotten. Door sits on .6cca PT 6x6, since I didn’t concrete barn for a few years after, and it started to rot. Not sure yet what to do with it, but bought some flex sticky flashing to use when I put new door frame in.

Bought router guide to cut hinge recess, worked ok, door fit good

Used the old door bottom. Ready to install

Had to uncover the radial arm saw, my first woodworking project in several years.

31F cloudy stiff 20+ mph wind from the north, over night temp low 20's,little over 1" snow fall over night. 🙄

Good productive day at work :) Bossman said let take walk so we did ,he ask if I consider taking on new store and I decline he wasn't to thrill but he understood completely, before I getting ready to leave work again he said let's take a walk so we did and he apologized for his he thought sour attitude when I decline job, hand me healthy bounce check  also 20 high end cigars, put the cigars in zip lock bag place in refrigerator at home,Mrs. just 🙄 but now I'm ready for blackflies and there cousins mosquitoes when they come calling. :devilish:

Plans for the rest of day evening...hmmm can't come up with anything. :)

Enjoy your evening all.

47F and sunny @ 15:30.

Did not get much of anything done yesterday except to go back to bed and sleep, so sort of took the day off.

Woman did suggest we cut my hair so I took her up on that offer after I got my shower.

However Someone got a little careless with the clippers ... so now instead of my normal flat top I'm sporting a brush cut ...

🤬

Also got another week's worth of meds doled out.

Did get order placed with Menards for electrical components. Order is ready - except for something they said they had but apparently didn't - and I need to run up to Cuyahoga Falls and pick it up.

One more bag of whole corn for the deer. That should get them through until there's more forage for them to subsist on.

Amazon delivered the plugs and UHMW for the fence, UHMW zero-clearance throat plate, and the VFD for the saw.

Spent some time reading through the manual for the VFD, didn't think it was quite as bad as some were claiming ... even with the Ching-lish.

Still have some questions though, mostly due to the terms they used (like "contactor" ... which may mean "switch" ? ...)

Still no word back from the guy on Craigs which had the ad up for the metal enclosures ... although phone indicates he did receive and read my text.

A little odd to put up an ad to sell something and then not bother to respond to someone interested in purchasing what you advertised.

Probably will get back up to shop later today after I get back. Warmer temps throughout the Ten Day will certainly make it more appealing.

Condolences to Don and Carin on Whipper's passing.

It's looking like the best day in that saw's life is when you brought it home, RS.

You might not be far off on that.

I opened the conduit box on the 3 phase motor and found the three power wires all connected and secured with wire nuts ... and the bare end of the ground wire flopping around loose inside ...

I'm no electrician but that sure doesn't seem right to me ...

Good luck on the house search ... (y)

Those pictures look good. I bet it is much nicer weather right on the beach with some breeze from the ocean. Maybe you can find some driftwood and get a campfire going

Contactor is basically a relay. The power is switched by contacts being pulled in by an electromagnet. The magnets can have various voltage coils installed such as 120 or 24, allowing lower voltage and current switches to start or stop the motor. 24 volt controls would need a transformer. Your VFD likely has terminals for remote switching.

That's the way the motor on my mill is wired, with wire nuts connecting the motor leads to the directional switch. From there, all the wires are terminated with metal eyelets or forks (not the right term, but you get the idea). Do take care of that ground, though, it ain't doin' no good wavin' in the breeze.

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 5.4C and it's presently 21.2C, calm and sunny. There was 29mm in the gauge at 0900.

It steadily rained all day yesterday although the predicted high winds thankfully didn't appear. As a result it was a 'stay inside' day. The temperature didn't get above 12.5C. Autumn is here... but I'm sure that there will be one or two Summer-like periods next month.

Went out for dinner at the 'Blue Shed' restaurant with a visiting & local friend.

That's about it, take care all.
