Morning, 39 going to 56 mostly sunny today.

Went to the post office yesterday and took a bunch of barn pictures on the way that I posted on here. Some of these barns are built right on the road.

Good Morning!!!! 42F @ 5:30AM. Rain likely. High near 50F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
Picked up a little more than an inch and a half of rain yesterday, accompanied by the highest wind I've see here, 56 MPH. Stayed away from the south windows and kept my fingers crossed until the storm passed. Once the rain lets up, I'll take a lap around the property looking for more downed trees.

Thanks for sharing the barn photos, Frits. Magnificent buildings!

Hope you have a smoother trip home, Drew. What kind of mileage have you been getting so far?

Got a phone call from an old college buddy yesterday afternoon and yakked it up for a good hour. He was on his way home from work, and Friday will be his last day before he retires for good. He tried to retire several years ago, but his company gave him a substantial raise and cut his hours to part time, so he''s had a while to train a replacement. Sounds like he's got some trips planned, and an old Norton to finish putting back together, and I know he won't be bored in retirement.

Zoom tour of that ex-mess hall house today. Another fixer on a large lot came on the market yesterday, but not in a good area. Don't need that kind of grief.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Mostly, there are many videos online about taping knees. My problem is that the knee cap is not tracking right and rubs on one side as it glides causing pain especially when walking on stairs. Went to PT before the covid time to correct and have been working on that but not helping much. Have Dr appointment next week to get it checked out again.

Good morning! Low of 22°, heading for 62°, lighter winds, only 10-15 mph. That will be short lived.... red flag warnings in place for tomorrow and Friday. 30-40 mph winds with gusts to 55 mph. Going to be windy throughout tomorrow night too.....

Glad that the gravel is spread. Now just need some moisture to help pack it in.

Probably take the opportunity to grease the tractor today, being the wind won't be bad. Then I can keep the garage doors open. I want to make sure that fine gravel dust gets pushed out of the joints.

Need to fill the pond too.... the wind really evaporates a good amount. Probably unplug the heater at this point. Then some shop puttering and horizontal mining on one bench.

I have been thinking of making some changes to the welding cart, adding a drawer and organizing the cord hangers a little better. Might get a start on that.

All subject to what the knee will dictate ..... it's complaining about having to use the tractor clutch yesterday.

Everyone have a great day!

47F it ain't hot but no doubt it's coming. Clear now, supposed to cloud up later.

Don, I'm thinking of you.

Ran up to the Target. I like to go early before it gets too busy. Pretty crowded today. Oh well.

There is a tree crew working behind me. I heard one of the neighbor ladies went down there and yelled at them for cutting a beautiful tree. I don't know about you but I usually avoid screaming at guys holding chainsaws. Remember the Texas chainsaw massacre? They told her to get out of the yard or they were going to call the cops and have her arrested. Pretty restrained.

Drew, sounds like you were a lot of help for your friend. I guess he will miss you.

Here is to spring.

Chris

67°F and .20 inches rain

Looking to get back working on my tractor shed extension getting the open areas closed in but wx could be deciding factor and right now that’s not favorable.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Potatoes are planted today. Planting flowers in the basket off the tire rings will have to wait. The old wagon wheel tires were found on the property from old wagons. Tacked them together with the stick welder. Remember helping the blacksmith forge weld and mount similar tires on wood spoke wheels back in the day.

Today did more dirt moving. Estimating that I have moved 200000 lbs so far down to the ramp where the baggage carts will go for firewood storage. It does not look like that much. Estimate that I move 25000 lbs per hour based on timing round trip. The clay soil is still somewhat wet. Going slow so as to not put too much stress on the loader arms. Each load is around 3 to 4000 lbs topped off. Using the shuttle shifter for gear shift to save the knee on clutching. Having dual cast iron disks on each wheel as well as cast iron hub plus loaded tires plus a 6 to 800 lb tiller on the 3 point helps to make it more stable

We made the mistake of giving the dewormer just before bed - apparently it is like puppy espresso… took over an hour of trying to get him to sleep even with mommy on the sofa.

today we gave it to him right after work, and took him for his first walk up the woodlot with Bailey. hopefully that wore him out a bit!

38 going to 61. Rain stopped.

m7040, garden soil looks rich and nicely tilled.

Kilroy, glad you found out about those worms. They are rough on a dog.

Thomas, paying more taxes only means you brought in more income...think of it as working for the critters...to buy them food.

The dew was so heavy, and stayed around until afternoon, so made a dump run and got in a nice maintenance hike, then bush hogged for 3 hours...a good start. Also drafted a baseball team vs. my son and others. Opening Day tomorrow ⚾.
The initial vet visit included a dewormer, but not one that took care of hookworms. He has one more dose to get tomorrow. When we got our Bailey, she had THREE types of GI worms, poor puppy. . .

Frits, that's a healthy load, something very elemental and satisfying about moving dirt from one place to another. Sounds like a ballet of
powershifter timing and bucket scooping

had nice dinner out with friends in Ft Meyers. They said good luck with route 4 going through Orlando. I'm expecting some very slow traffic on my way over to Flagler Beach, but the goal is a good one, a night on the beach.

no alligators today, sorry. Just not finding things worth taking pics of.

got a brief amount of rain here today but should be dry for tomorrow.
72 tomorrow in Flagler Beach, I think I'll like that temp better than 85 and sticky. Then colder in SC, colder in VA, and MD, welcome back to reality. As much as I like the warmth, I find the Southern humidity to be usually unpleasant.

do ants make nests in vehicles? My small winged black ants keep coming back. More spray needed.
