hard to see but looks like that truck had really extended wheels.
Lots of that around here, huge wheels/tires sticking out way past body line. I've been told that's very hard on wheel bearings, and it looks like this is a good example of where it let go. That poor guy who got hit by the tire, note the tire came back and hit him again...hope they are ok and had seatbelts on.

sent a note to head of school board and head of school which I'm on the Board, that they might consider buying a 800 dollar bullet proof shield for the head of school. I know they won't...but we need to stop thinking this won't happen here.

36F and cloudy @ 08:00, heading up to around 49F for the high for the day.

I did indeed go back to bed last night and I'm glad I did ... feel very rested this morning.

Will probably head up to the shop here in few and get a fire going to warm things up.

Have to remember to take a gallon jug of water up with me along with the can of 3 in 1 Oil and the bottle of paraffin.

Need to get the feeders filled up today for our feathered friends.

There's some branches that fell down in the circle/turnaround that need moved.

The special order Plano plastic storage boxes are in at Menards and I need a few other items from there so possibly a trip over there.

Otherwise probably back to clean up/restoration on the saw.

Need to get moving ... before The Woman gets up and I get roped into something down here at the house ...

Hope everyone has a great day ... (y)

Good morning,

36°F now upper 40’s today winds NNW 5-10 mph. Had some light rain overnight, most of the snow is gone except where it’s shady and the snow slides off the roof. The frost must be out of the ground as the yard is drying up nicely. Not quite “tractorable” yet but close.

Not much going on just trying to enjoy life with family and friends. 👍

Prayers for those in need, our country and peace around the world.

Still having blood pressure issues, back to dr. today.

Be well,

Saw a later news report that said he had only minor injuries.
Probably needed some new skivvies as well.

Good morning! Low of 15° (going wrong direction) going towards a high of 49°. Sunny and less wind, only 10-15 mph today.
Going to get a bit warmer for a couple days, then colder and high winds on Thursday. Red flag warnings already posted for then.

So sad about another school shooting. Something needs to be evaluated and implemented.....

RNG, must be something in the weather pattern causing the insomnia..... I joined that club last night.....???
Good to hear you didn't find any homeless camp on the access road.

RS, the table saw is going to be awesome when you get done with the resto. Hope you get the 3 phase figured out.

Drew, sounds like you're having a great relaxing time along the waterfront. Did you park the RV at the campground right along the water? --- the real narrow one?

Mostly, good that you got the boat trailer fixed up. That could have been a major issue.

Might actually have a chance today to attack those gravel piles.....as long as the wind will cooperate.
Mostly, yes... the knee does usually dictate the ongoings / activities for the day. ----And lately, that's not much. I still push it though, have to keep moving.....

Everyone have a great day!

66°F and .51 inches rain

Crosstrek got delivered to son this morning

Have eye Dr appointment this morning, my semi annual. That mean dilation, which usually takes me rest of the day to recover. Guess that will count as energy conservation and mental health.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Tilled a patch up in the fenced yard for the veggie plantings to come. A little heavy with still to much wetness but OK

Decided to repair boat trailer guide, after removing carpeted wood and opened carpet up, I found the 2X4 and took a pic. Hard to believe lag bolts and staples still had grip in what was left of the wood. Did not check ho;e location in carpet so had to cut new holes :(. Any way new guide back on trailer.
 You got our money worth from that guide.

46 going to 68. Maybe a shower.

Hope Harry will do better on the medicine.

Kyle, congrats to your son! Great achievement.

Seems like I spent all afternoon lubing anything that moves yesterday, but actually only got the tractor, tiller, and bush hog done. I had to move a couple of implements to get to the bush hog, but got it attached and ready to tackle the fields...although I'm planning on sharpening the blades...it's an old Woods Brush Bull 72, and the blades need 450 ft lbs of torque, so not being equipped to tackle that, will crawl underneath.
Got a phone call yesterday while at chiropractor, Harry has hookworms, we picked up meds earlier and just administered first dose. Hopefully this will resolve quickly and he can start putting on some weight!

39F and cloudy @ 22:00, heading down to 35F for the low.

Long day/night "yesterday" ... coffee is tasting good though.

Lower back is killing me, probably from too much standing on concrete.

Doubtful if I will head up to the shop this evening. Might even go back to bed.

Did get a fair amount accomplished yesterday, including some clean up and organizing in the shop. That included unloading a pallet that had a number of items on it including the top frame for the LPGS build ... another project I need to get back to ... :giggle: ... and tearing it apart to burn.

Still working on getting all the silicone rubber removed from the Unisaw cabinetry but making progress ... just a little left to go:

Taking a little closer look at the black base of the saw, it seems like there was square dust port from the factory as original equipment ... so not real clear to me why someone would feel it was necessary to hack the cabinetry.

Went to clean up the throat plate and the contact cement reared its ugly head again ... all four of the set screws that allow for leveling the throat plate were full of it:

Screwed around quite a while trying to dig that out with a pick to get a hex bit in there to remove them. Finally hit it with carb cleaner and the acetone in that softened it right up. Chased the screws with a die after I got them out.

Did a little scrubbing on the hand wheels for the blade tilt and raise/lower, also cleaned out the bores with a fine stainless steel bore brush for a 12 gauge. A "before" pic:

Got the little welding table cleared off and started tearing into the 3 phase motor. Will need to do some further reading on that before I go any deeper:

Finally bit the bullet and pulled the guts of the machine: front and rear trunnion brackets, trunnion itself, blade arbor and motor mount ... along with two worm gears and shafts:

A bit tricky for one person to do alone (wouldn't want to drop any of those castings on the concrete) but manageable with care.

These old machines aren't terribly complex and can be gone through and rehabbed without too much difficulty by someone who possesses reasonable mechanical skills. They are rather durable apparently.

So if you see a deal and want a saw ... ;)

Had to cancel the order for the VFD and place it again - when they initially said it would be here "Monday" I didn't pay close attention to the date of the Monday they were talking about - it was going to be next Monday not today ...

Instead it will be here this Wednesday.

Also ordered zero-clearance UHMW throat plate and a 3/8 x 4 x 48 UHMW strip from Peachtree Wood working.

The strip will be used to reface the one side of the Biesenmeyer fence ... after I rip a small strip off of it to use as runners for a crosscut sled.

Also on the menu will be building a side extension for the table saw (described in the manual for the Biesenmeyer fence) for handling sheet goods (and because one can never have too many horizontal surfaces ... ;)) and a mobile base for both.

Hope everyone has a good evening ... (y)
wouldn't want to drop any of those castings on the concrete

if you have quick reflexes you can shift your foot in the way to keep the casting from getting damaged 😂🤣😂
