Morning all, 37 going up to 61 and sunny.
BBQd some steaks last night, off to town to hang out by the river and walk dog. Termites hatched and in swarms by river, time to pack up and go home.

Fixed speed knob on turntable, but found out why broken, the slider to move the belt is adjustable, and son by mistake had adjusted way past it's end stop, breaking it and knocking off the e-clip :-( will see what I can do to fix, but it's starting to look like new turntable.....

I hope Whipper pulls through, glad she has a good home with you.

sitting in living room on laptop, this house doesn't have curtains, just heavily shaded windows, but not sure how easy to see in. I'm a curtain and privacy guy so making sure to keep the lights down until the sun comes up.

I really dislike curtains and shades. I do have one for the kitchen window I need to reinstall from the remodel. As the sun is blinding in the early morning. And I do have a heavy blind for the sliding glass door in the living room for energy conservation, heat in the mornings in the summer and cold at night in the winter otherwise no blinds or curtains I've got windows so to be able to see whats out and about around me. Fortunately I have no need to worry about someone snooping and peering in my windows.

Rebuilt the old BCS tiller with a new Kohler engine. The Acme engine was actually OK but carburetor parts were no longer available. So back in service will use it to till between rows.

Went into town yesterday to have a drink and appetizers at Harvest Seasonal Grill.
Son will be home tonight, seems to be having fun in DC even thought the weather was a bit wet yesterday.
Have the turntable and parts, will get to it in a bit.

no, no keeping the Mercedes. The dad, son, and son's friend came over Saturday afternoon and repaired the fence. The dad seemed like someone I should have known all my life. Very nice, and made his son have some "skin in the game" on the repairs. The dad is a multigenerational rancher, and has been fencing since a young pup himself. They did a good job. Was glad to see it, and glad the son is ok.

Seems like I spent all afternoon lubing anything that moves yesterday, but actually only got the tractor, tiller, and bush hog done. I had to move a couple of implements to get to the bush hog, but got it attached and ready to tackle the fields...although I'm planning on sharpening the blades...it's an old Woods Brush Bull 72, and the blades need 450 ft lbs of torque, so not being equipped to tackle that, will crawl underneath.

It's been really fun watching him. I know there will be a kid who's faster eventually. Talked with a senior on varsity who runs in the 52 second time, and he said 1:02 very good for 7th grade. Will need to trim off 2 seconds a year to stay in the win zone.

Good morning! 55˚F heading to the mid 70s partly cloudy NE wind.
Whipper continues to get weaker but still manages a short walk twice a day that she looks forward to. She has a ramp to get into the backseat of the truck then I taker her to the trails. One day at a time.

The "Farm" will only need me on weekends during the Easter egg hunts, which gives me more time with Whipper.
The yard got its first mowing of the season and even though we have only had 4 tenths inch rain since I fertilized it is very green.

Don, I remember when Whipper adopted y'all, and earned her way into y'all's hearts, slinging/killing snakes ahead of your trail to keep y'all safe. What a strange but wonderful habit for a dog. Folks, when I visited Don, Whipper was tolerant of me, stand offish, but made sure to clear the trail of snakes when we went for a golf cart ride.

I stood with Mikim's grandson as he was baptized this weekend. Talked with Bernice at lunch afterwards. She said to tell all the tractor team hello. She's able to work from home since Covid, still living in the same home Mikim and she built. We talked about Jinman and Wroughtn Harv.

Haven't heard from Wroughtn Harv in a while, I hope things are good for him. I did not make this event, but I did make it to Bird's birthday a year or 2 later and saw many of the same people. Good people.

Ha! Yes, You're really slumming it these days...I like your Vertical mill power setup. I saw in your rack of collets, the Z axis adapter for your drill. I made a bunch of those back in 2010 and gave them out to my machinist buddies. It's a must have if you have a long tool to load in your setup.

We have 2 out of 5 broody chickens. I got them out of the nest this am. Hope they come around.

Daughter's Impala tranny was making whining noise last Friday. It went away, but not sure what was causing it yet. I'd like to rebuild it myself, but knowledge, time, strength (and money) are not in abundance right now. Her "check engine" light comes on after a while. It needs a new O2 sensor to clean up the catalytic converter's act.

PJS, our church recently had it's old pipe organ refurbished. The council was impressed with the technician's knowledge and skills. It sounds beautiful. Glad the blind and deaf pup is doing better.

I have a 3/4" breaking bar, with the correct socket, then put a 4 or 5 foot cheater pipe over that. Please please be careful under that thing.

Good morning! 46° now, high of maybe 52° today. Drizzling right now.

Yesterday was nice. Worked on plans for a project then did some bike maintenance. Took the race bike up the road to verify the shift linkage works correctly. It is vastly better than it was.

Also watched the power company that owns the transmission lines on the other side of the road repair damage and clear trees from Saturday’s wind, looks like 3 trees went into the lines up on the hill. The flashes were pretty impressive when it happened Saturday. Fortunately our power doesn’t come from those lines. There are still people without power in the area.

Not sure what I will get into today, but I will find something.

Due to the wind, probably won't spread the gravel today. I have become very selective in when / what conditions I will work in..... where did this come from?

with sharp blades you run the risk of making punji stakes out there, waiting for your tire sidewalls on the next pass...
I once sharpened my bush hog blades to mow a field and it did ok, clumped a lot. Then I had to be careful with it, though I scalped a few spots and that worked pretty well dulling the blades.
One case where sharp blades just aren't a good idea.

I have some weeds, that 1 guy nick named them "bunch grass" tough as stainless cable when cutting. Only round up will kill them so far. Cutting those and bahia require reasonably sharp blades.

How about this old Minneapolis Moline, still hanging in there after the tragic loss of the USS Hornet.

63F and overcast. It was pure blue sky this morning. They are calling for rain later but looking at the radar it doesn't look like a sure thing.

Last Tuesday the head gardener (wife) decided it was spring enough. I planted 96 pansies out front while my wife planted lettuce and spinach in the vegetable garden. Wednesday she ordered a small mountain of mulch. (where am I supposed to park my truck?) My wife loves being out in the garden. I mowed the lawn Wed. All kinds of flowers blooming.

We have a crew from Glofiber in the neighborhood stringing cable. That starts by stringing galvanized steel cable which I guess they hang the fiberoptic cable from. We are tired if how slow the Verizon DSL is. It will be interesting to see how much fiber costs.

Well, my bush hog is 19 years old and I've never sharpened the blades, either. Just thought it was about time. Maybe I should reconsider.
