Poured first cup of coffee. 38° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 51° with showers in afternoon. Got correct fittings to install well pressure tank. Moved tank to cellar. Measured how it will fit and found a pipe union behind old tank. If it comes loose it will make job much easier. Neighbor that is going to help me found out he needs to work this weekend. So install will have to wait awhile. Got some of the broken limbs picked up and put on pile to be chipped. Still a lot move stuck to ground with ice. branches are acting like insulation for the ice. Couple of day of warmth and they will all be free to pick up. Today may be a conserve energy day
House Finch has brighter color this time of year.

. There's an electric fence that's been set-up a few metres away, but the gap in the Rectory fence + young, curious, children would be too much of a temptation. ;)
They gotta learn sometime. . .

🤣😂😂

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

45.7F, drizzly rainy dreary day today.

more puppy cleaning and organizing in the house. Picked up some training treats, pads, puppy food, etc.

we had a baby corral we used in our place we owned in Florida to keep the dogs from going through the screens on the lanai, and I kept it when we sold a couple years back. I wanted to buy a second one to make a bigger puppy corral, but WallyWorld had none, so I need to order online and get it shipped 🫤

our walnut trees have not produced any more sap in spite of the recent cold snap, so this weekend I will pull the spiles and seal the holes with pruning spray until next season. My order of sap pails/lid/spiles arrived and I am ready for tapping sap!

time to search online for kiddie corral and have another cuppa.

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

50 outside this AM. Heading to lower 60's with rain moving in and out the next few days.

Flowers looking sad after taking two hard freezes in a row.

I took a break from most everything and got a haircut yesterday. Took about two inches off. I look like a different person. LOL.

Got back and wife decided she had enough of the florescent kitchen light. So having done all the electric in the Milk House, yep, with hesitation rewired and replaced the Farm House kitchen light. Kitchen is still original other than paint and new wires from the 1970's renovation. Appliances are new, but the floor, wall and ceiling need attention. This is the last project on the honey do list.

Since I was in and out grabbing tools I stopped by the lawn mower attempting to get it started, No luck. Think I will try a new spark plug and clean out the fuel system. When I have time.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Get or stay healthy.

46 going to 64. Feels much warmer outside than yesterday.

Don, glad you are back at work. Hope your wife is better, too. Garden looks good.

My wife hiked with me yesterday. That was fun. We hiked a section of AT that works its way for a couple of miles around a pretty reservoir without too much elevation gain...crossing many small creeks and ravines. I did an extra section while she sat near the water and read. Perfect weather, and talked with 2 thru-hikers...one guy our age from Vermont doing about 20 miles a day (in a hurry to get back home?).

Good morning from Central Texas. Only sprinkles, still awaiting some meaningful rainfall! So far, it has been way too dry!

The USAF Boeing LGM-30G Minuteman ICBM. Range 6000+ miles. Max speed 15,000MPH (Mach 23). Claimed 400 active at multiple sites.
Don't want to use them, but glad we have them.

Hope all have a great day.

45F and cloudy @ 06:30, heading up to a high of 53F for the day. 30% chance of shower early this morning but the real rain arrive this evening around 19:00. Could get nearly 2" inches.

Reasonably productive day yesterday.

Started out by trimming off a section of MDF for the pocket hole jig mounting plate with the circular saw and then trimmed it with the jig saw using one of the new "Extra Clean" Bosch blades:

IMG_2339 copy.jpg

Got some sanding done on the edges where I trimmed it out too, may work on it a little more today.

Then got the hopper feeder filled. Have noticed a number of goldfinches hanging around recently, they're not in their bright colors so easy to miss if you are not paying attention.

After that I moved The Woman's car and went over with the Kubota and got the saw horses out of the barn and got those set up.

Pulled the van around and unloaded the sheet of 3/4 ply and hauled out the tools from the garage and got all the rest of carcass panels cut for the router table with the circular saw. Dumped some Titebond III into various voids that were exposed by the cutting.

Then I trimmed up a piece of hardboard to make a zero-clearance throat plate for the table saw to minimize tear-out and chipping. Had to run down to the corner hardware store to pick up a couple of screws for that, as the originals would not work (original plate has recesses to accommodate the heads of the screws)

The top of the heads on the new screws had to lowered so that they didn't stick up above the surface of the plate so I did that on the belt sander. had to shim it a little with some washers so it sat reasonably level before I cut it through:

IMG_2337 copy.jpg

While it's not ideal (nothing about this saw is "ideal" ... ) it should be an improvement:

IMG_2338 copy.jpg

After that I took a nasty old shrimp that was stinking pretty good over to the barn and got the live trap baited and set.

Then persuaded The Woman to lend a hand and we got the 3 sheets of 1/4 TigerPLY ripped down to the correct width for all the drawer bottoms:

IMG_2340 copy.jpg

Seemed to have turned out reasonably well considering ...

Finished up the day by clearing most of the wood off the radial arm saw which (I think) has enough travel to trim the TigerPLY for the drawer bottoms to length. Probably start on that here in a few.

Came inside and flopped on the couch, fell asleep for a few minutes and when I woke up The Woman had gone to bed so I headed off there myself.

Guardrail for the scaffolding is due in today, so putting that together and getting it installed will be on the agenda for today.

Also lady with the pony was entertaining other guests yesterday and pony was ailing and under the weather so we may get together later today or tomorrow.

In the meantime I need to dole out some meds for this coming week.

Possibly I can get a haircut today as a reward for getting the scaffold guardrail installed.

Hope everyone has a great Hump Day ... (y)

Morning all, 33 going up to 64 and cloudy.
Spent some more time with the brushcutter in the back area. Almost all the clumps of invasives are cut at the roots now.
Still get tired after about 2 hours.

Sodamo - Sorry about Flail, Happy birthday to Sophie!

Back to day job,

Be well,

Can see from neighbors property line all the way to the pool house.
This was a solid 150' wall of vines and invasives

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High 57F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 70%.
It's shaping up for a sunny weekend, but the 10-day has more rain than sun in it.
Lake Oroville rose above the 80% max capacity dictated for flood control last week, and the spillway is slowly bringing the level back down. Good to see the dam managers paying attention.

Shouldn't be too hard to weld a plate under the boss of the belt tensioner to spread the load to healthy metal, then weld up the cracks and weld on the plate, David. Or something like that; I'm sure you'll come up with something. How many hours on that flail by now?

Looks like all your hard work paid off, Ken.

Clipped a parking marker in the WalMart lot last week, and got the yellow paint mark off the truck with some polishing compound yesterday. That side had body damage before, and the cheap clear coat that was used has yellowed, so tried to go after that, too with less success. Lots of other little dings on the body, so once it gets warmer, I'll talk to my bodyshop whiz neighbor about repainting.

That neighbor warned me about a homeless person trespassing on the old boat launch road below the house, so I took a spin on the side-by-side to look for him. Nothing to be found, but I did make my mind up to drag the fallen tree over so it totally blocks off the road. Tried to move the tractor and found one of the front tires flat again, so trussed it up with a couple of ratchet straps to seat the bead and reinflated it. Finished that just in time for the rain to resume, so the tractor work will have to wait for the rain to stop. Also reminds me I need to pick up a metal valve stem for that wheel, as the rubber one in it doesn't seem to be sealing properly.

Spent a fair amount of time on the Ford Transit search, and made a few pricing inquiries via email. Probably have to follow up with phone calls today, as car dealers don't seem to like dealing with email.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

Good Morning.
It’s 40 now and warming.
IMG_1340.jpg

Yesterday was such a nice day that I had to get outside, I put the subsoiler on the Kubota and tore up a small pasture adjacent to the barn. I was able to get it down 24 inches through the clay and shale. Hopefully it will improve the drainage. I hope to rototill some lime into it today before I seed it. I got as far as getting the tiller on the tractor yesterday.

Today I have to get some finish applied to a couple of speaker cabinets, I’ll spread lime and till between coats. Not much else planned

Good morning, 47 going to 62 today much warmer

Inspection this afternoon of the sill log of the farm house to check for how solid it is. The brick wall on the outside of the log wall is showing settlement and bowing that I shored up with braces jacked into place with screws jacks.

Noise on the land line for the phone needs to be investigated with check at the entrance to the house,

Scraped an area near the pond down a few inches with the blade on the x yesterday. Works well by scraping off a few inches per pass without tearing up the whole country side.
Then went after an area with bigger rocks and got hem picked up and sorted in a pile and leveled the area.
Going after a coming flower box area with the x. Seems like overkill but saves my shoulder that is on the mend. Gardening with the x will be interesting this year

66°F and .10 inches rain overcast, threatening. I need it to hold off.

A couple more hours mowing.

Today is my dear sweet wife’s birthday. Sophie is 70. Friends are throwing a surprise gathering and it is my job to get her to the beach park at 2:15. Wx needs to cooperate. She does think I’m taking her to dinner tonight. Part of the ruse.

Need to make PO run 1st thing.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
