44 outside this AM. That should be the high for today. Rain will be moving in, and last until later tonight.

No outdoor plans.

Neighbors dogs, about 1000 feet away, kept howling and barking all night. I mean, they are still at it. I think they added another one to the mix. I will have to go over there and have the talk. I mean, really, a 1000 feet away and they sound like they are at the back door.

Our zoning laws call out dog barking and length, time, sound readings. I may have to point them in that direction. Sheesh. I am irritable this AM.

Window for the Milk House came in. I custom ordered one, same company I used before to replace all my barn windows. I'll get that in and cut some holes for fans and lights today.

Had a nice day with the wife, haircut for her and comfy couch for me. Then a nice lunch downtown.

Wagtail, we love raptors. Have a few hanging around here. Eagles though are maybe once a month sightings, so we drop everything when they are around. Yes, magnificent to watch.

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

56.6F, currently in between bands of rain, and today’s forecast is for rain, light rain, rain, showers, rain, thunderstorms, and rain. So tomorrow should be pretty mucky up at the woodlot.

The heat shield on the Subaru’s exhaust started rattling a couple weeks ago, and has now getting to the annoying level, so tomorrow morning it will get jacked up and I will try finding it down with some 16ga galvanized fence wire and hope for the best - it is the original exhaust from 2010 and is otherwise in good shape — and replacing it would be a major expense and time-suck right now. If it will keep things reasonably quiet until around June that would be good, it would get us past a couple impending spring projects we want to spend on first.

The last couple weeks, at one of the local heavy-equipment repair/welding shops, there has been a Unimog 419 sitting out in front… I wonder if I can call up and sortakinda play dumb and ask about it. I know some of you folks are familiar with Mogs - is it really a viable alternative to something like a Ford 555? We really need something with an excavator bucket, a mini-excavator is nice, especially with the mobility the tracks provide, but a backhoe has that big scoop up front . . . And so does a 419. . .

Still fighting with that oil breather cap. It won’t budge. Rafters and comealong are next.

Good morning from central Texas. Big weather front last evening. A tornado warning was issued just N of here but luckily other than bigtime winds, we seem to have been spared any hail and got about .8" of rainfall.

Another favorite The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark. Never cared for the name, not too cool. But a great low level multirole aircraft. The configurable wings alone made this a fascinating plane. Here tell, it was just too complicated / unreliable, so it is now retired. Worked with many in my day.

LOL, you are right. The Aussies called the F-111 "pig" due to its long snout. Still though, in the US, thought they could have come up with a "cooler" name.

31 going up to 47 today with an inch of rain coming in this afternoon and tonight.

have some errands to run this morning, then expect a quiet afternoon

I tried a teaspoon of honey in my coffee this morning, trying to avoid other alternatives.
It's ok, not very sweet. But anything sweet seems to be consistently bad for me/us so willing to try.
I also got in a couple pounds of turbinado sugar as a white sugar alternative. For years only use of white sugar
has been feeding the hummingbirds. Apparently nothing is better than plain white sugar for them.
I wonder if science could study hummingbirds to find out how they thrive in a glycemic wonderland.

There are variety of specialty sugars sold in the fancier supermarket in town, including the date sugar Don mentioned.
I may try that also

airflights of US aid into China, over the Himalayas. They gave him a .45, and he said he only fired it once, at a passing Japanese
plane. No, he didn't bring it home. What he did bring home were these 8 to 12 inch decals of US airplanes, from where I have no idea, which he put on the
ceiling of the attic. So I grew up looking at those planes on the ceiling. I particularly remember the one of a P-38 since it was such a distinctive design.

no, they were glued to the ceiling for good. We used to build erector set stuff up in the attic, and those planes were always overhead.
