Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of a chilly 6°.... now only going up to 38° today. Tomorrow forecasted to hit 48°. I was surprised this morning by another inch of snow....?? Wasn't forecasted at all.....

Woke up really congested with a junky cough..... but, able to get some out and blowing the nose really cleared out a bunch. Now to keep that trend going will help to get over this.

Kyle, good luck trying to keep up with here..... Safe to say that it's a good thing to hear that work is so busy?

Kilroy, hope the direction of work continues in the positive direction. How long is it for?

LFN, fingers crossed for return of tractor today.... maybe late, that way you can continue to conserve energy for another day...

Ken, sounds like your son is really making progress and having fun too!

Wing, need pics of milkhouse progress! Love to see old buildings refurbished. Did you ever get the wire past the obstruction? Any decision on the chimney?

RNG, sorry that the price came in so high for the ADU. When we built our little cottage, it finished out at just over $60K. But that was with all work being done by us, no contractors involved. We are just under 1K sq. Ft. Continued good luck with the search.

Wow, we have climbed to 12° at 08:00..... glad I have an excuse to stay inside, at least most of the day.... I do have to make a run to the grocery store for a few items. We have to make dog food this weekend.

Strange thing happened last evening.... got up from the couch and sneezed.... then a "triple sneeze", then continued sneezing about every 20-30 seconds for 32 times (yes, the wifey was counting). Eyes got all red and watery.....
We have no clue as to what caused it.... maybe the bugs last hoorah?

Everyone have a great day!
every couple weeks I get a sneezing fit for no reason. Anywhere from 5 to (my personal record I don’t ever want to beat) 46, averaging around 12-16. Something I inherited from my father… it started back when I was in my mid 20s. Yay.

66°F and .71 inches rain.

Glad to be back home. Bit loopy from the pain meds yesterday, but that was Ok. The ointment makes my vision blurry for awhile.

A quick trip to town this morning. H&F this afternoon. Otherwise just light duty, conserve energy

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Good to hear recovery process is starting off well! You really don’t need to pick up anything heavier than you tablet or a sandwich for the next week…

Amazon let me down, my pole saw's delivery is delayed up to 4 days so I'll miss it tomorrow when we have the big clean-up.

Sausage flavor was better but still need just a little something, probably salt, but I'm tying to keep salt out. Sometimes lime juice works as a good substitute, looks like experimental batch 3 coming soon. I might put some peppers in batch 3.

Does anyone have an external storage device that plugs into an iPad?
I picked up a SanDisk IXpand unit in Walmart for about $50. It works, and with a standard USB on the other end I dumped all my images from my iPad onto my PC very easily.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

Work was uneventful— boring is good! Excitement is overrated.

Mrs. made reservations for VD dinner first seating, and mom needs to be taken shopping, so no work on the woodlot today. So, when we took the dog up yesterday after work, I sent Mrs and dog up the mountain while I stayed in the shed and installed the spacers I made for the lower arms. As usual, one side came off without any problem while the other side required some heat and a 2jaw puller to get the pin to move. . . by keeping the axle Ends of the arms more outward, I expect the implements to stay more centered while in use. Otherwise I will have to install Chains and I don’t really have any good mounting points for that…

Got the seed order in, and the only item that was out of stock was black turtle beans, so that was pretty good. Ordered a couple different tomatoes, leafy greens, squashes, melons, herbs, etc. The fun part will be seeing what actually gets planted!

39F, the HVAC started kicking in about 3AM-ish. Woodstove will get fired up tonight, regardless of what Mrs. says. She doesn’t want to run out of firewood, but I haven’t even touched anything from our two ricks out on the fence (about 3 cords). We have burned not quite 2 cords since the start of chilly weather in Autumn, so we should be good into next winter already. . .

might stop for a haircut before taking mom shopping, which would also be a stop in the Habitat ReStore. If nothing else, I need to pick up another egg basket or three - with the new birds producing, we are getting about 4doz eggs a week! I need more pickling spices…

I hope everyone has a healthy safe restorative blessed day!

38 going to 50. Winter is sneaking back in.

Kilroy and Kyle, I get those sneezing attacks, too. But haven't come close to your record, Kilroy...I'm think mine is 16...but you keep the record!

RNG, sorry the deal didn't work...but I just can't see you wedged into close neighbors like that after having your big spread on the hilltop. But there are advantages.

LS, sorry the crud rebounded. No fun.

Cut a load of firewood, stacked some small limbs and the big stuff is waiting for me at the splitter. Packed up everything last night for an early departure for a long mountain hike today, but just before bed decided that I'm not sure my leg is good to go. So I'll give it a test today on a local trail, and look to next week after the rain.

good morning all
36 going up to 47 today in sun

Ted, sorry you aren't feeling well. Hope you shake it soon.
David, hope eyes continue to improve

Bill, stay safe out there in the snow, at least it's melting for you

no plans for today other than housework
have a bunch of things ready to order for new motorhome, but waiting for dealer to confirm
financing on half the cost. Usually it takes five minutes for me to be approved, 830 Fico. I think this guy uses
a wholesaler and it adds a level of paperwork. Rates are high, around 7 percent, so if stock market goes back up, will likely just pay it
off. I actually need some debt to maintain credit rating.

39 outside this AM, might touch 50 today. We are on the cusp of a storm moving through tomorrow. We may get rain, we may not. Hope it misses us. Don't need it.

Block busting was laborious yesterday. Managed to get about a 4X8 section removed. Without collapsing the walkway. So that was good. Today will try and frame it out. And then at least get the vinyl on the that outside wall done. With the weather forecast above freezing for the next few I may press my luck and pour some concrete footers so I can build another outside wall. Completing enclosing the walkway.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Get well soonest LS.

Good morning. 34 degrees, 27 dew point. Waiting for sunrise to get outdoors. Could be a little nippy since the wind is supposed to be 20-30 mph. But, some minor cleanup and feed cattle at least. Clean new .410 lever, a few test shots, load up for standby armadillo / pests.

Hope all enjoy the day!

Good morning! 32˚F sunny, north wind, heading to the mid 50s.

Today is limb day at the church, hope someone brings a pole saw. I'll have my chain saw going continuously on the low lying limbs.

David is your field of vision larger?

Oh, one more thing, Today is the first day the "Farm" will be open to the public since the ice storm. And tonight the "farm" has a Date night - an art class with a charcuterie board and wine.

This week was the International Agritourism Association convention in Austin. The "farm" owners attended and then the convention moved to the "farm" where a private tour was given. 600 people from Farms around the world belonging to the association took the tour.

36° and sunny
Going to breakfast with the gang.
Finally tried my driveway alarm yesterday, been in a box and forgotten for years. Sensor just laying on ground along flower bed. First location it kept alarming constantly, even with sensitivity turned all way down. Maybe picking up flag pole? Put it on other side of drive, and not going off. Will have to play with sensitivity setting more.
Edited more video yesterday.
Brother was at the farm yesterday. Grandfathers place really run down

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 4:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 61F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Thanks for sharing your Sprinter experience, Frits. Normally I'm a used car kinda guy, but with the prices of used vehicles of this type not differing significantly from new, I'd be crazy to buy used. But it's been surprisingly difficult to find a plane Jane van. I just need cruise control and a trailer hitch as options, and while I see an occaissional van equipped with a cruise control, finding one with a hitch is very rare. No wonder, as Ford wants close to $1k for a hitch and integrated trailer brake system.

Good to read that the procedure went well, David. Hope you're back to 100% soon.

Sounds like an allergic reaction of some sort, Ted. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I thought the new House stopped the new IRS agents from being hired, KJC. The power of the purse. But best we not discuss such things here...

Oddly, having no debit hurts your credit rating, Drew. Banks only want to loan money to people that don't need to borrow. Yet I've read you can get a better price on a vehicle if you agree to finance it. Then just pay off the loan early. Gotta make sure there's no early payment penalty, though.

I did get the burn pile going yesterday, a little too good. The wind picked up and the flames got longer than I was comfortable with, so out came the hose and a lot of water to damp it down. Once the flashy fuels were consumed I just kept piling more stuff on for the rest of the day. Got through maybe a third of the next pile. Getting lots of practice shaking dirt out of the grapple, as a lot got mixed in with the wood in this pile.

Seemed like I was stopping way too often to answer the phone yesterday. Lots of fun when you're operating a tractor: Kill the ignition, pop off the earmuffs, undo the seatbelt, fish the phone out of the pocket, and work the phone with gloves on to answer the call before it goes to voice mail. But I finally got through to a well digger and got a service call set up for next week. Also learned that the insurance adjuster found where to buy new roof tile that is supposed to match what's already on the roof. Gave me the name of an outfit in town that she said had samples, but a phone call confirmed they don't, so those are on order. It's almost certain the tiles on the roof are faded and new ones won't match, but the adjuster insists we jump through all the hoops. Realtor also found a fixer house he thinks is perfect for me. Only $700k  I don't think so...

ashPile.jpg

The mound of ash was as big as the RTV at sunset last night, and there should be a nice bed of coals to feed more wood to this morning. So that's what I'll be up to today, hopefully without the phone calls.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Good Morning.
Nice day here today.
IMG_1583.jpg

I think that I forgot to check in yesterday, but it wasn’t a busy day. Spent most of it disassembling and cleaning an old Ellis dividing head that I’ve had for a long time. I pulled it out for a small job and thought it was pretty forlorn looking. Amazing tight, easy but looking abandoned and unloved. I didn’t take any pictures, I’ll try to remember when I get back over to the shop today. Did the job,and then went to work on the dividing head.
Loaded the crock pot with meatballs and tomato sauce for dinner with the band, we had a great time, first get together in a few weeks.
Afterwards walked over to the house and went for a walk with Zoe.
Why are dogs always happy to see you?

Not sure what today will bring, neighbor has been asking a lot of questions about why his forklift won’t start, it’s a Nissan propane powered unit, might wander over there and see what’s up.

Drew, let me know if you need a ride to pick up the RV, I’ve been around quite a bit lately.

Good morning, 35 going to 46 wind has died down

Still testing out the mini split but so far it is working perfectly.

The IMAG was not ready for pickup yesterday but got the text it is ready for pickup today.

Plan to mount the big screen tv on the wall with a bracket that tilts and swings out from the wall but they are not recommended for mounting on a brick wall. The engineer in me says I will find a way to do this safely.

LS sorry to hear about the relapse

L4N glad you got the tractor back

David, sounds like your recovery is progressing

RNG, you are right used vans makes no sense. You may be better off ordering one with the options you want and wait for delivery. If I was doing it again instead of a 12 passenger van I would order cargo van with front side windows and one row of seats, long wheel base and high roof. Also cruise and back up camera. These vans are not good for much towing so would skip that option. The rear springs on the cargo are not as soft as on the passenger van at least on the Sprinter so will look at options there

Last time I needed to replace my hearing protection earmuffs I got the bluetooth version...now I can answer the phone while it's in my pocket by pressing a button on the ear cup. The pair I bought doesn't have a mike, so have to yell until I get the phone out of my pocket, but can answer a call quickly so it doesn't go to voice mail. Also, can listen to tunes, of course.

successful morning.
financing approved, wow....8%
was 3.99 two months ago
I really don't care, will likely only have it three years and/or pay it off as I usually do.
At least they gave me 20 year financing so the cash flow is managed. I put a third down.
Until market goes back up, want to preserve retirement investments. Once you cash them out, hard to get them back in....

Popgadget, am picking up RV next Friday. Friend in Lederach taking me, but another friend has been asked to get me to Lederach, like a relay race...so my friend there has less driving.
If trip to Lederach is not able for second friend, that would be helpful. I'd have to be picked up and taken there.
Do you have an Uber license among all your other licenses? ;)

put in a big order to Amazon, lots of rv stuff I have bought multiple times per their reminder system.
Did you know you bought this in 2013? yup. Amazon Smile terminates in ten days so wanted to get a last order in.
Amazon will have sent about 80 bucks to my local school over the last few years. Not much but overall about 2500 bucks total given to school.
I guess it became cumbersome for them to administer, not like Mr Bezos is running out of money any time soon.

I had to laugh that the one thing I didn't have to order was the special rv toilet paper. When i sold the last rv, I had an extra case of Scott fast dissolve TP.
We were going into the TP shortage so I thought maybe I should keep it. Buying this online costs about 75 cents a roll vs buying in RV stores where the cost is double that
for seriously cheesy flimsy tp. Scott makes tp that's sort of halfway, still septic friendly, but thicker and nicer than dedicated rv stuff. I've never had a clog and periodically use the
black tank flush to make sure everything gets out.
