good morning all
good to hear from PJ. Glad new job going ok.

finally got a call from local guy who owns the motorhome I was interested in seeing.
Going over at 3pm today to check it out. Asked BIL to come along, he owns an excavating company with lots of big
equipment, more mechanical than I am. I need to crawl underneath this rv and check for leaks and wear on the suspension air bags.
Very hard on my neck, so he will do half and I will do half. If it's nice, will go for test ride, not far from rt 95. Need to get it up to speed and observe.
not sure how well it has been maintained, plus it's been sitting basically for last year. I asked for a cold start.

https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2008-Coachmen-CROSS+COUNTRY+382DS-5022876536

66k on engine, not much for a Freightliner with Cummins/Allison combo.
More issues of age. At 15 years old, may be some deferred maintenance. For sure, some new tires, belts, all the wear items. I owned an old motoryacht....very similar issues.
Every system must be proven. Has been kept in garage, which is good, but I bet roof has issues or needs resealing. Thankfully have owned three rv's and am very well aware it's not if things will break but when. Maintenance is everything. I'd much rather replace a part than worrying about it failing in Georgia.

remember I broke down in North Louisiana last time (truly busted down in Baton Rouge) and had to return home to PA with a broken motorhome that had parts backordered for weeks.
Once burned, three times learned. Of course no way to get perfect reliability.

very good school board meeting yesterday, nice to see folks in person, usually we just zoom. Got a lot done too.
now to make breakfast with those nice brown eggs given to me.

Ron, isn't it nice when it all goes together smoothly?

Good morning, the low temp was 25 and going to a high of 30°F. Wind W 5 mph. Periods of light freezing rain mixed with snow. I got lots of ashes, three and a half 5 gallon pails of them. If it gets too thick, I can run the tractor over the flat surfaces and its' weight coupled with the tire chains will break it up.

I think today will be an energy conservation day for sure.

Have a safe day all

Good evening all. 44ºF for the start, overcast, light breeze. Moderate wind, rain, clearing in afternoon, and high temp was 60ºF. Bike ride to start the day, 54 miles, near intended end of ride, stopped ans only unclipped one pedal, moved to better stay out of traffic and fell over :( Broke derailluer hanger, and twisted brake lever. Raspberry on right knew and pride only personal injuries. Got ride home, Volagi down until I can locate new hanger. Peugeot will be in use for a week or two. Went to stepdaughter's for some smoked ribs for dinner.

Oh yeah - I had some dead standing hazard trees to take down p, and one of them got hung up and I had to waste some time dealing with that. 200’ of rope and some persuasion from the pickup And it came down, shattering on the way down. And since that was right on our main hiking path, it was important to get down. But the time wasted between rigging and pulling cut into “real” tree cutting, — but I got one very nice black walnut and it yielded three straight sections of 12’ - 12’ - 10’, plus some good smaller pieces for posts and wire wood and fence palings.

Good day yesterday. Finished up my fuel tote project. Got a 55 gal drum with an electric pump and forklift adapter. Should be easy enough to live with. Fixed the Hydraulic fitting leak on the new pallet fork grapple. Cheap little project for an old set of forks lying around. Now I can clear the creek of all the brush and debris. Should be handy handling tree branches and such too. Almost reached 60º yesterday... If it gets that warm today I'll do some tractoring. Plenty of drainage and weed abatement work after the storms.

Good morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

37F right now, going up to mid 50’s, drippy day. Mrs and i are taking mom out to brunch after church - Mrs is looking forward to chicken&waffles after all her ditch diggin’ yesterday. Lots of branches, leaves, and muck after years of neglect, but the water is flowing freely and it should help reduce the slickness on the road. Supermarket after brunch for the week‘s supplies.

got down several dead standing hazardous tees down, but one got hung up and it took a while to rig and safely take down, but the fact that is shattered into several pieces on the way down, and since it was right next to our main hiking path, it was important to eliminate it.
I only managed to drop one nice black walnut, and got three straight logs for the sawmill. I wedged them up off the ground with some smaller log sections to keep them from soaking up moisture from the ground.

After brunch I plan to pickle some more hard boiled eggs and bake a quiche or two - the egg basket is full again and it needs some emptying 😁

I hope everyone has a healthy, happy, peaceful, blessed Sunday!

26 outside this AM. Nice and frosty. Rain moving in around noon.

More running around to do today. Found light, but need more and still looking for an exhaust fan.

Only good thing was being with wife and Mission BBQ yesterday.

Also, caught this bird hunting around back run-in. Ron has motivated ne to carry the camera.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

17° now going to be a cloudy day in the low to mid 30’s. Snow/rain/mix this evening and through tomorrow, the guessers are all over the place where the line will be. Time will tell.

Just finished cleaning up yesterday from the Thursday/Friday mess, got about 7” of heavy wet paste. Lost power a few times throughout the storm, longest was 4hrs. Trees are still weighed down with snow, hope they clear before it gets windy tomorrow!

Plans for today like others, refuel tractor, walk behind blower, generator and a trip to refill any empty cans.

Stay safe and healthy everyone

Pic from Friday morning lull in the snow, got a few more inches afterwards.

Good morning, Another day in paradise with colder weather 30 going to 40 and rain on the way.

Coffee is good this morning and Cody loved his walk. Need to brush him today and teeth as well. Shetland Sheepdogs shed a lot and if not brushed often we will have tumbleweeds in the house. Also need to call the vet for followup vaccine boosters tomorrow as well as an appointment at the groomer for bath and trim. His double coat protects him from the cold and he gets very frisky on cold weather days. Got our first short video clip from daughter that had arrived in Brussels this morning. She always keep us along for her overseas trips with small video clips and narratives of what she experience along the way. It is always interesting and it prompts further investigations on the internet to learn more about the places she is visiting.

Drew, good luck on your inspection of the motorhome. A 14 year old motorhome in good condition could be a good buy. Anything found during inspection is opportunity for negotiation

Morning All and hey PJ. 31F and gray. Likely rain this afternoon.
I too have been dealing with downed trees. Wednesday was a pretty nice day so I went up to the farm. The first tree I got to was a 5 trunk ash that had fallen over into a big pine. That ash is heavy and hard. I only got 3 trunks cut and pulled down before I ran out of battery for the milwaukee. I decided it was close enough to quitting time. I have another dead ash (darned emerald ash borers). I have been trying to decide if I want to mess with it or just let nature take its course. Lots to do if I find the want to.

Last Monday I decided I had been getting too much of the wrong seat time. I read about the horseshoe trail that runs 135 miles from Valley Forge and hits the AT north of Lebanon. I just walked a mile and a quarter up to a overlook. Nice walk through mature forest. I forgot about the holiday. I must have passed 8 parties. I picked the wrong coat so I was kind of sweated up by the time I got back to the truck.

Chris

Good morning,
It is presently 39F under cloud skies after an overnight low of 32. Forecast high for today is 47 with 100% chance of rain this afternoon.

Still no 'honey do' list which is a bit unusual, but I'll take it.

My get out the Z3 and go for a ride with my honey, just to get out and explore the area a bit.

Plan on spending the rainy part of the afternoon cleaning up the shop and maybe spend some time curled up on the sofa with my honey watching some movies.

Had the chainsaw out, started and ran much better, but still not 100% right. Good enough to finish cutting up the downed tree and getting that out of the way.

Looks like two of the post holes for my shop are not as deep as the others. Will measure them today and call contractor if they don't meet spec of 4ft. Need to get them corrected before Monday's inspection if they are not right.

Have a good day all, lets be careful out there.
