Good morning!!!!

Good evening all. 50ºF for the start, partly cloudy, and light breeze. Light to moderate wind, partly cloudy sky and high temp was 77ºF. Chapel to start, Hot cereal mix for breakfast then kitchen cleanup. Then motivation fell off. Did get nap in. Seat heater in truck not working, took a peak underneath to see if cable unplugged, no such luck. Failed to get lights done on such a nice day, and that is a strategic error.

may all wishes come true, perfect sentiments to start the day Ron.

good morning all. 38 going up to 56 today in heavy clouds
David, the pup is priceless. I love his choice of sleeping spots, right on your other dog's rear end. Maybe he will learn... ;)

Burpee catalog came in, always good to review.
Big decisions this year, what to grow instead of potatoes.
I'm motivated by Don's strawberries, so i think I may take a third of the raised garden and plant everblooming strawberries.

do deer eat strawberries? wondering if I have to fence that area.

Taken from google;
Strawberries are delicious fruits, so deer, widely known for their vast appetite, would gladly devour any strawberry orchard. They will feed on the fruits, leaves, stems, and everything, leaving a severely damaged plant in their wake.

Good Morning!

God has given us another day to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

NUD Dinner went well, everything came out just about perfect and at the same time!

minor smoke condition when a fragment fell into an element when moving pots around. Actually had to deploy the fiberglass blanket because the fragment kept reigniting until I got a cup of water on it. Not a major hazard situation, more of a worry that the smoke alarm would trip and the alarm company would call - ALWAYS a PITA, especially as food would be getting cold . . .

txdon - you get to stay home, and we start Our seasonal work with the tax prep company. It gets us out of the house during the dreary cold months, the hours are somewhat flexible, it keeps the brain gears free of rust, and we get to turn down the heat and stay warm on someone else’s dime 😂🤣. And, they even pay! And then we are done just in time for the nice weather. It’s a good gig.

our poor dog was beside herself with all the smells of cooking yesterday. Then, when I was carving, I extracted a bone (with plenty of meat on it) from the roast and carried it out on the deck and gave it to her. Doggie Heaven! After about ten minutes, we heard intermittent clunking - she was tossing it in the air, rolling on her back with it, etc. Good doggie. There are two more bones in the fridge for her, once this one is reduced to a nub (should be by the end of the day).

relatively warm and foggy, 39.6F since 3am, so I guess it is only going up from here. We haven’t run the woodstove for three days. Saturday the heat didn’t run until after 6 am, yesterday it first kicked on around 5am, and last night it started at around 1 am and cycled all night, so tonight it will get fired up. AND, Now that we are going to be back to sitting in a cube farm, I fully expect the weather to be gorgeous during the week and absolute crap on the weekends. . .

HAPPY NEW YEAR +1!!!

I hope it is a good one for all Of us.

Deer tend to eat anything that you have the slightest concern about. . . Fence it in.

I think the main things I want to get in this year are onions/garlic, cabbage, potatoes and yams, Malabar Spinach, tomatoes, and ground cherries.

we will see how it works out.

Maserati is coming out with a new EV hyper sports car with crazy hp and a crazy price.
what I thought was interesting was the attention now being paid on the quality of sound artificially being piped
into the car. EV cars can be too quiet, enthusiasts at times want some noise.
I've kidded with my friends for years someone will make a gazillion dollars with an add on that lets your choose which
V8 sound you want. Like flat crank? have at it. Like the Hemi? you bet. BMW straight six wound out to 7000 rpm? you bet.

normally in cars you worry about bringing what is becoming true high end sound into your car, audiophile stuff with super clarity.
This has nothing to do with that.
It's what kind of engine noise you want.
Takes you right back to the beginning going vrooom vrooom. RRRRMMMMM

7.8 inch woofer with frequency response of 65 to 3k hz. Bass, a little mid range.
i think they had better add a midrange or tweeter to get the high pitch of some F-1 engines.
I wonder what an "unpleasant order" is. Some harmonic?
And a "Shepard tone", which I had to look up, is supposed to make the sound edgier, tense
107db is pretty loud too.
As long as it has an off switch, fine.

it's fun to see stuff I literally used to joke about coming true.
we can do this....but world peace is a little tougher I guess.

ok, thanks, my existing electric fence goes back up. I don't share.

48 looking for 66. Foggy again.

Great weather yesterday to walk my son and DIL's dogs while they visited her 90+ YO grandmother in the hospital...fell and had hip surgery. I also roasted them 3 coffees to take home today. Walking their dogs is a challenge...the Brittany wants to stay on turbo booster the entire time while the other dog likes to sniff every inch of the ground in slow-mo. Also got to survey another section of woods for storm damage...looked pretty minimal...nothing more than gloves and a lot of bending over needed.

Thomas and Mostly, glad you got your first naps of the year...I might join the club later today. Been staying up past my bedtime.

Trying to think of the Robert A Heinlein story where the protagonist has a replica Model T, and shuts the speaker off because of conversation, and something something cars no longer pollute something. . . Written 50-60 years ago.

just think, Rich will soon be on an electric motorcycle, making no noise, but he can pipe in the sounds in his helmet
of whatever bike he wants. I know car sounds a lot better than motorcycle ones, not having ridden in 50 years.
I bet that racing bike Rich drove was very noisy, and kind of that obnoxious two cycle sound.
I always thought that sound was a true "unpleasant order"...plus the ring, ding ding
but with that noise came power for sure
am thinking RNG's BMW at a certain rpm must make a lovely exhaust sound.
or a 4 cylinder Honda winding out

I think more of a motorcycle as rolling art. Like the cylinder fins on a Triumph Bonneville.
The exhausts and gas tank of a BSA Lightning. Or for sure an opposed BMW twin.
Since you are wearing a helmet, the idea of piping in motor noises isn't so far fetched.

Wait til someone designs a 50 dollar amp module. I want one for my lawn mower.
Can you imagine going up through the gears on your mower? Bill would have one with an 18 speed.
heck, a fine addition to any tractor too.

there are a lot of these noise modifying speakers already being used in cars, made to diminish or cancel noise.
And EVs have had to make some kind of noise to safeguard pedestrians.

we've come a long way from buzzers and beepers

I find the quiet very appealing

yes, I was raised on Heinlein and Bradbury

Count me in for the New Years nap club.

My weather station has not updated in 3 days. 35° at the In-laws.
She had a bunch of oaks cut down around the house, has a huge pile of logs in the yard.
Fortunately not much drama when wife’s sister stopped by Saturday. A little to be in character, but it was manageable.
Head back home today, but wife may return in a couple days due to a funeral.

Good morning all on this third rock from the sun,
It is presently 50F with fog after an overnight low of 44. Forecast high for today is 57 with clear skies.

Felt better yesterday and was able to get the maintenance done on my chain saws. Feeling good today and the downed tree will get cut up.

Other than that, a quiet day just me and the mutt.

Have a safe day everyone.

good morning and the good weather is continuing 45 going to an amazing 58 today. very pleasant

Had a good day with family yesterday. All had a good time. Talked about having a firewood shed building party this spring so I better get the pad prepared and ready for it

The daughter with hip replacement 8 weeks ago is walking great with no cane and seems ready for her next trip later this month to somewhere Europe.

This morning when walking Cody I heard again this loud metal drilling sound from around the pond.
Has happened a few times in the last week and last about 20 or 30 seconds
Wife recalled something similar that turned out to be a very large woodpecker
Sounded like man made sound and looked for people on our property but found none

Good Morning
It’s 43 with a high overcast, a high of 55 and chance of rain this afternoon.

Yesterday went by quickly, picked up a Milwaukee M12 right angle die grinder from HD to retire the pneumatic one. I think that it will work out well.

Dinner worked out well, amazingly, everything was ready at not only the same time, but at the planned time. The roast was excellent, I’m convinced that a reverse sear is the best way to cook beef, especially if nobody likes it well done, as it’s consistent to the core.

Grandson had a ball with Zoe, and did a decent job of wearing her out.

Not sure what’s on tap for today, there is the perennial mess in the shop to tidy up. Searching for the Kimber guide rod made for a good start last week, but there is plenty left to deal with.

Welcome Shetland Sheepdog. Going to need a shorter name for you... ;)

have been looking at small travel trailers. Found one built by Amish in Indiana that I can tow behind Volvo.
need to figure out what adding electronic brake controller to car would cost.

4 days to Florida at 75 a day for campsite: 300
tolls 100
gas 1300 miles at 14 mpg $420

times two for roundtrip 1600 vs 3000 for train ticket

I think I may be getting back into rv'ing...as long as I can be comfortable in something small enough to be towed.
Plus it would allow me to go visit folks.

50°F and dense fog this morning, going up to 63° today. The warm air is bringing some storms with it later this evening. Then, upper 60s for tomorrow. After that, we drop back to more seasonal temps for us, 30s and 40s.

Wow, lots of catching up to do again. Hope everyone is well.

Good Morning, all.

Morning all, 45 going up to 58 and cloudy.
Tomorrow first day of work in the new year.
Saw the movie Babylon last night at a theatre (empty) and it was not bad, but too many over the top scenes for us.

Drew-I have wild strawberries-Deer, rabbits and everything else eats them. Careful planting strawberries, if they get loose of their enclosure they can propagate quickly and far.
Amazed how much can fit in that small trailer, pretty neat.

I also don't plant onions/garlic, neighbor at my old house did and they rooted the next year all over my property.

Yesterday did some grilling. Tuna steaks for me and the kid for lunch (wife does not like fish) and pork loin for lunches this week. Son announced he is red meat free, we'll see how long that lasts.

Still working this back area. But can actually see through the woods to neighbors lawn.
Hoping to work on moving out all the stumps and tree parts and then gathering rocks so can use the flail to keep it tame, without making it into a lawn.
