We had new years already with fireworks watching Sidney Australia. But will try to stay up for for more local celebrations.

The fridge in the van comes in handy when picking up cold groceries or taking trips.

I have used the cheap Horrible Fright solar panels as battery maintainers on anything that is outside - we use the Subaru substantially more than the pickup, and with all the electronics it has a lot of draw even when off, and I have gone almost two weeks at a time with no hiccups, so that may be an option for certain items.
Just keep an eye on your battery. Some of those cheap HF solar panels don't have good voltage control, if any, and can cook a battery dry.

Sure here is link to their fridge/freezers. They are not cheap but they work good and can freeze down to low temp pretty quickly or stay as a fridge

Here is a picture showing more of the fridge. It is mounted between the front seats on a mounting plate that allows it to be removed easily. When mounted it closes off walking access to the back of the van but rarely use that anyway . it runs on 12 volt but also has 120 volt connection. Sometimes I will hook up with extension cord to 120 if left for longer than a day or so. The 120 connection is in front of the grill like on engine coolant heater connections.

I am thinking of investing in one of these, because of an old shoulder dislocation that makes its presence known after the fourth or fifth heave:

Looks like that could come in very handy! Not too bad on the price if it is as good as it sounds. They appear to be currently ‘out of stock’.

65°F and no rain.

Holiday gathering was good times. Neighbors. That haven’t talked to since the pandemic and new ones as well. Too much good food per usual.

Last day of 2022 - where did it go.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon
It’s 48 and not going anywhere in a hurry.
Foggy, and has been all day.

Yesterday followed the plan, did a Costco run, sighted in the Kimber with my son, while he did the same with his LC9. Afterwards, I disassembled the Micro 9 to clean it on my cluttered bench, much to my son’s dismay. Turned out I should have heeded him. In the process of reassembling it I dropped the slide with the barrel, recoil spring and guide pin assembled. The guide rod and spring dislodged, launching the rod into parts unknown. After extensive searching, cleaning and sweeping, it was still MIA. Son suggested I order a new one, that should make it appear. He was pretty good about not rubbing in that had I been working in a proper environment, this likely wouldn’t have happened. So after authorizing a $35 payment to Kimber, I rejoined the search. As I worked my way down the bench from where I was working, I saw it hiding in a shoebox full of lens cleaning tissues. Explains why I never heard it land. So the Kimber is all assembled, significant deep cleaning happened in the shop, and I’m out 35 bucks.

We took Zoe to our vet for her first checkup and records review. All is well, she is doing fine, gained 6 lbs in 10 days. Got home past her (and our) bed time and called it a day.

This morning, I left the house at 6am, headed for the airport for a trip to Fort Lauderdale to take a family of 6 to get on a cruise ship.
It was foggy when I left, but scheduled to improve. Long story short, visibility never got to our takeoff minimums, and then there was a 3 hour flow control delay going southbound. About 10am we through in the towel, and made arrangements for them to drive to Trenton, NJ about 20 minutes away where the weather was at minimums and sent them on their way with a competitor. It will be close, but I think they will make the cruise.
Stopped at Mission BBQ and gave the prime rib a second chance, it was much better than the first time, but I think that I’ve decided that smoking does not do prime rib justice.

Got home in time to play with Zoe, and check in here while she is napping. Still no visibility here, airport is reporting less than 1/4 mile. Now I’m glad that we didn’t go, I likely would not have gotten back in, and ended up at an alternate far from my car.
