Back down to -5F (had bumped up a little), winds still howling but not quite as bad. Looks like the forecast has been revised and that warming trend has been delayed.
Made two trips outside earlier. Was brutal.
First one was to take a 1 gallon bucket of mostly cracked corn (but also with some safflower and sunflower seeds + peanuts) and scatter it on the ground.
Turns out (almost) everyone is a ground feeder when it's this cold out and the hopper feeder is empty. Which it was.
Second trip was to refill the hopper feeder itself.
Didn't have to wait long to see them take advantage of it.
No sign of any squirrels today.
After that headed down and fed the fishies. Nice and warm in that room despite no heaters running in the tanks. Think it might be the warmest room in the house.
Did a little work on tank glass and changed a couple of HOB pre filters.
After that I went over to the utility room and moved some things around and did some more sanding + a little planing with a hand plane.
Woman fixed Parmesan Chicken breasts, green beans, and some yams (with butter and brown sugar ...

) for dinner, was very good.
The temp out in the garage (which is unheated) has finally fallen to 32F so I'm about to head back out there and clear a path to fire up the torpedo heater for a little bit to keep it above freezing.
Will probably move the dahlias back inside to the laundry room to ensure they don't freeze.
Then head back downstairs to do some staining and see what other trouble I can get into.
