Good morning! 31˚F North wind but shifting to South wind at 11AM and warming to the mid 50s.

During yesterdays seat time it never got above 48˚ and I was feeling cold on the road that goes North into the wind. Today should be better..
Monday during the cold rain my suggestion to send me home turned out to be a good one only one family showed up and they did not go to the activities, only saw Santa. Yesterday attendance of several hundred people, with people on every ride was much better than I was anticipating.

Good news! The Farm's outside activities will be shut down Thursday afternoon when the Cold front blows in through Friday when the temperature range will be 14˚ to 27˚.

Morning all, 22 going up to 40.
Tried to sleep in today, but wife and kid made enough noise to scare off the animals.
Got our son another booster so he doesn't ever get what we just had so bad.

Got some more panels up and almost the whole outside wall area is covered.

TxDon - wow sad to hear, so young :-(

Had a clip on our Mauser (from WWII) but we never used it as that 8mm rifle was famous for jamming. We used it as a single shot bolt action.

When at the range the trainer let me use his glock with red dot, really ups the game with my "older" eyesight.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

overslept this morning - didn’t wake up until 7:20. We all have been fighting off good Ol’ fashioned bronchitis for two weeks, and finally started feeling better. I guess the body decided it needed a little extra downtime after fighting off the crud. . .

I got some grit down on the front stairs! Used up a can of Rustoleum spray paint. It just has to last until spring - I am replacing the steps, I just haven’t gotten to it, so there was no need to do it the ”right way” embedded in stain.

I use 32-grit silicon carbide blasting media for my grip grit.

I have been mentioning to MrsKilroyJC (for several months now) that we need to rent a mini-track-excavator for a couple days in order to get some major things done at the woodlot, like ditch clearing, stump pulling, land clearing, etc. so, yesterday while takingnour dog to the mountain for her big walk (it seems that we bought the lot primarily for the benefit of our dog 😂🤣) Mrs. was concerned about some boggy spots where our stream sortakinda just spreads randomly. I again said how we need to rent a track home for at least three days and that it would have to be full 12-14 hour working days to take full advantage of the rental time and she said that maybe come spring we should look into buying a trackhoe of our own.

it is always better when she comes up with the idea instead of me 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

The new hens have officially started laying! Yesterday we got 8 eggs, so depending on how many of the five original chickens dropped an egg, either three or all four of the new hens contributed to the larder.

I foresee a lot more quiches in our future. . .

I finally remembered to bring my pad up to the woodlot to photograph the offcuts rack I made out of offcuts - they are posted in the Sawmills Pictures section of TBN. It is the simplest way to do “How To Turn Slabwood Into Firewood 101”.

I am getting the last hairscut for the year today. Mrs always goes because two doors down from my barber is the Habitat For Humanity ReStore, so she gets first crack at perusing the wares while I warm a chair.

I am going to pre-load several bags with firewood for the weekend - we are allegedly going down to 3F Friday night, and similar temps are forecast for the weekend, so I won’t have to pick wood in those temps - just grab and go! I use the big IKEA blue carry bags for firewood - each hold about enough to fully fill the stove from empty, and I usually go through a bag-and-a-half a day once the fire the stove is up to full operating temps with a bed of coals. The old Vestal would take 3 bags a day minimum, and when it got to these temps 4+ bags. So the new stove is much more efficient - I am glad we don’t have to haul as much wood anymore!

have a happy healthy Hump Day everyone!
Be sure to get the thumb on the excavator. I use it all the time to lift things. remove branches, logs, rocks etc

Wouldn’t thing of not getting a thumb!

unless we get a Ford 555 instead of a trackhoe - but a thumb can be added to that, right? 🤣😂

successful morning, dropped off presents at a friends, got car washed, and then picked up spices for a hot cider drink.
I had cinnamon, looked at price of cloves, etc etc, and then found an apple pie seasoning mix with all the spices already in it.
Did get a navel orange so I can float a bit of orange on top.

bought some cranberry orange muffin mix. Will add a little fresh orange and orange zest to it.
might make some of those on a cold afternoon.
that's all the excitement I can get into

Thumbs can be added to any backhoe either as a mechanical or hydraulic. A mechanical is stationary and you rely on curling the bucket to grab

Finished flail mowing Laupahoehoe end of property. Followup appointment for me with eye Dr. Learn results of peripheral vision test and next step for my droopy lips.

A little bit of shopping as we are responsible for the ham for Christmas dinner.

Need to stop at P.O. as tracking indicates numerous items have been delivered.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Watching the Lisa Ling show about the family being burned out in Tennessee. Very religious town all white and the husband was black war veteran. Was harassed for 6 years and finally burned out.
Sounds familiar to me. It is still happening in this day and age and they were all the "Good" christians in this very religious town. Fortunately they were not home otherwise they would be dead.
Being called nxxger loving hxxe is something that also is familiar to us. This is not a comfortable subject I am sure to many but it is something that needs to be out in the open.
I took my family to a very on fire black baptist church on Sunday night after Thanksgiving. It was moving!
I try to treat all people the same way I would like to be treated.
