I have this Robinair vacuum pump. Not sure what to do with it. It runs fine but oil looks blackish and sight glass is cracked.

I am left eye dominant but shoot with right eye looking at sights. Never seemed to matter.

I think I convinced son to drive tomorrow instead of Friday. I told him he might be skating up I81 Friday.

Fritz, is that old gas station on Rt 11?

My health insurance won’t pay for a test my son needed. They just say your plan doesn’t cover it. I find it hard to believe.
Course we find out after it’s done, and it did come out positive and he had to be treated.

Haven’t caught up on everyone yet.
Actually it is in Mercersburg on 307 N Main ST

LS, thanks for the offer. I won’t be pulling my camper that far, but if I’m in the area I’ll stop by and say high. I want to ride the cumbress railroad sometime, and would like to do Durango Silverton RR again.
Pegosa Springs get mentioned in western books. I’ve been thru it twice on 160.
I was looking at your route today on google maps.
Thanks for the pics.
Yes, that route is far more scenic than the west side of the state. There are some beautiful areas over there, but they are much further apart. Then there is a lot more traffic that way too!.

You can definitely stop by! I can get you a good discount for the Durango/ Silverton railway (Daughter's boyfriend is a manager there). They are running the special "Holiday Polar Express" right now ---- at $100 a head. He gets free tickets and took the daughter and grand kids last week. It has apparently become a huge event and tickets sell out fast.

I wanted to stop at the Chama station and get a pic of the engines of the Cumbres / Toltec railway, but it was a little bit off our route, and didn't know if the engines were even there, so just bypassed. They have become expensive too!

Drew, when you head out to see your sister in Cali, you can definitely stop by too! As a matter of fact, any of you guys are free to stop by.... grill is always open!

Fritz, is he a yellow lab? ---- I think your holiday is going to be 'fun filled' for sure!

Yes it is a yellow lab. Learning to walk stairs. He does not like stairs but with time he will get it

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of 10C and it's presently 20.9C, fairly calm and sunny. The 'Liars' say that Summer "will, definitely, positively, arrive by Christmas Eve"... yeah, right. We'll see as 'they' usually say these things with their hands behind their back.

It's the weekly 'in-to-town-day' for mail and a wee bit of grocery shopping. With a guest (soon to be two as of Boxing Day) I find that more grocery shopping is required due to changes in evening meal menus.

We'll probably either continue with the vine odyssey, however I'll need to get a trim/mow in prior to the weekend. Friday is, of course, St. Tibb's Eve so I'll need to ensure that there's enough rum in the house to properly celebrate.

That's about it, take care all.

The day before Christmas (Dec 23) when I grew up was called little Christmas Eve. Christmas for us was celebrated the eve of December 24 with dance around the tree and singing before getting gifts and visit by Santa Claus . Dinner was roast pork, goose, red cabbage, potatoes and gravy. Dessert was a rice pudding with rum and cherry sauce and the one who found the almond got a price

Had the lever action 243 browning for more that 50 years. It has a 5 shot magazine only. But after the retina surgery on my right eye I can not shoot "straight". Anyone tried to shoot from other side? Not easy I think to change over
It may be time for a red-dot sight. Upgrade the classic with some newfangled crap—- but those dot sights do work!

Having to stretch my memory a bit,
I know the M14 could accept "stripper clips", with the bolt locked back you could take a stripper clip of rounds slide the clip into a dovetail in the receiver and shove 10 rounds down and into the magazine, two strippers and the mag was fully loaded.
The magazine could also be removed from the rifle and a loaded mag latched in as well, and the empty mag loaded from loose rounds.
I don't believe the M16 had that ability.
Previous to the M14 the Garand M1 was loaded with an 8 round stripper clip that ejected from the rifle when empty.
M16/aR15/m4 mags can be reloaded with stripper clips and ”spoons” - and adapter that fits over the end of the mag and keeps the stripper clip on line for proper loading.

SKS also uses 10rd stripper clips into a fixed mag

I’ve got friends that work for Bechtel, I even interviewed with them once. They bid one of my projects once.
Maybe that was one of my proposals.

   / Good morning!!!! #161,194
Back when Bechtel was still down in Germantown, or was it Gaithersburg in the old building before the high rise. Long time ago. Was for a SCADA design build.
Was not involved in that. I was in the Houston office at that time. Home Depot bought the lot for the Bechtel office in Gaithersburg and then they moved to the high rise on Washingtonian st. I hated that commute ( 43 miles ) and fortunately they moved the office to Frederick after a couple of years. I was doing projects in Florida at the time so that limited my time for the commute. The bagasse burning projects were interesting. It is for people not familiar combustion of sugar cane byproducts and converting it into power and steam.

yikes. stay safe wherever you are, bundle up.

ALL of the Highways are under snowfall warnings / alerts, and stupid temperatures
Eeep! I had to come down to Toronto today because I have to give a test tomorrow, and then back up again on Thursday morning. Hopefully we will miss the nasty stuff, which comes Friday and Saturday.

The kid is coming up with her boyfriend on Saturday for Chrisrmas, and I am a little worried because all he has is a Ford Focus. Winter tires to be sure, but the Focus is two wheel drive only.

26°F and partly cloudy this morning, got up to 44° today. Sun was shining most of the day, so it was rather nice. Looks like the ugly stuff will hit us Thursday afternoon. Voice on the radio was suggesting this morning that we may get 4-8" of snow. The real kicker, though, is the low temps below zero for about three days. The high on Friday is showing +6°F, and windy. Still too early for weather like that here.

New job has been going very well. Thanks to everyone who's asked.

As I recall, wasn't that the ladder from the mudfest, Randy? Hope it served it's purpose well.

Some really fantastic pictures here, fellas.

Good evening, all.

Sad story a week before Christmas.
A co-worker at the "farm", His 3 year old child died from meningitis. He was only sick for 3 days. I was suppose to relieve him on the tractor Saturday but a manager had taken his place.

   / Good morning!!!! #161,199
Here you go, Drew. A stripper clip on the left (for a 7mm Mauser) and a magazine on the right (for a 5.56mm AK). Generally, a magazine encloses the rounds, and a clip does not. Over the course of time, they have come to be used as meaning the same thing ... though technically incorrect. For the most part, gun people know what you mean either way.
