Well got the lathe all wired up and had my wife flip the breaker and heard a buzzing sound in the converter. :shocked: Am praying that I did not fry it. Found a wiring diagram for it but the wires going to the lathe are likely 64 years old. They are in good shape but colors are a bit faded. I quit, am calling a pro Thursday.

The Anderson static phase converter that came with my mill buzzed loudly as well. That was the main reason I upgraded to the rotary version, that and I wanted to be able to turn it on and off from each machine so I could work on the machine more safely. If Anderson is still around, why not give them a call and hear what they have to say about it. As I recall from your photos, their phone number was on the cover for the phase converter box.
The three power wires connecting to the lathe can be connected in any order. But that's not the ground wire, which should only be connected to ground. It sounds (no pun intended) to me like you're on the right track, Ed.
