Good morning!!!!

Good morning, low 14 and a high of 23°F. Wind NE 2 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

Off to Powasson to get me another genny, then come back and go to the bank. After the bank is the dump and after the dump is set up the genny and fire it up just to make sure it works. That should tie me up until 2 P.M. then a nap.

The Markham leg of my trip was enlightening to say the least. We got a new dispatcher, yaay! The last one lasted a year, this one comes from a trucking family (mostly powder), so he may be a better fit.

Helogabals, an attitude like that from one of my neighbours would get them zero snow plowing. In fact IF the street was wide enough, I would plow the far side away from the mouthy ones driveway just to be sure I didn't put any snow near him. Let him shovel, that will either work the mouth out of him or depending on how old he is, maybe give him a heart attack. Either way you wont have to listen to him anymore.

Back when I plowed down south, I had so many shovels thrown at me I lost count. A one way and a wing, IF used the way the people that let the contract out wanted you to plow would surely create a huge mountain at the end of your driveway for you to clean out all over again. Yet IF you picked up the speed about 10-15 mph the wing would scatter the snow and there would be no mountain.
I had one old guy he had to be 80 if he was a day that lived on a dead end gravel road, he had just finished blowing his drive way and along I came. Sure I filled in the end of his driveway, turned around at the end of the road, plowed up to his driveway, backed up and cleaned out the windrow I had put there, shoved that all over to the side of the road I was doing and told him that whenever it snowed that much I would clean up the mess I was supposed to leave. He was a nice old guy, he offered me many bottles of wine which I turned down. I told him that if he didn't say anything to the regional goobermint then nobody would be the wiser. I only plowed that route for the one season.

I see that there is a major storm brewing up just below the Aleutian Islands that is coming this way. Gonna swing down and depending on the jet stream we may end up with our first major storm of the season by next weekend. But not near as much as Buffalo got last month. They are only talking a foot or two. A trial by fire/snow for my V plow.

You guys have a safe day

Good morning! 63˚f heading to the upper 70s. Home A/C running again last night because yesterdays high was 82˚. cooler weather coming Saturday night and back to the 50s Sunday. Stopped by the "Farm's" store and utilized my employee discount and bought some jars of Christmas Jam to give as stocking stuffers.

something tells me a few of us would like to ride along with Bill and his v plow in a foot of snow.
As long as the heater worked really well...

you finish your driveway, clean up at the end and around the mail box, feeling very proud of yourself, and then
Mr Terrible PlowDriver comes along, and all that snow from your neighbor who hadn't cleared anything yet gets dumped
like the Maginot Line across the end of your lane. Out you go again.
rinse and repeat

last rain here a few days ago was a full inch. Weather forecast is wet too.
More water than we need.
I'm going to ship a gallon to Ted and RNG in the Christmas spirit.

too much rain and you get mold, lichens growing in roof shingles, constant problem in NC.
Didn't remember it this wet here. Guess I pay more attention to weather now.
I think most of us do.

blue sky coming out, how wonderful. Sun shine today. Hold that thought Buppies.

Buppies, I started plowing in Toronto in 1980 with a landscaping contractor, then in 1985 I did the 401 and 400 highways. Working for the company I still work for. I don't remember the year that I switched to York Region but between tanking in summer and plowing in winter I paid my house off in 15 years. Now the only plowing I do is for me and a few neighbours. I got asked when I was in Markham yesterday if I would plow for them IF they got caught between a rock and a hard place. I told them NO!
My manager told me he looked at my birthdate on the computer and he figures at 76 that I have a few more years of my life I can sell (wages) to him, I told him there should be 23 more. It is called Freedom 99.

inquiring and curious minds would like to know...
why do the front wheels on heavy duty trucks stick out so much?
For clearance to get to all those extra studs?
Some are stylized, some are fake, just wondering why.
I'm guessing to make more room for more bolts and brakes.

Some stick out so far they look like a hazard to pedestrians. The ones on my 2014 3500 dually didn't stick out as far. 4wd vs 2wd??

39 going to 50. Pretty sky, but about as full of contrails as I've seen. Definitely see the Atlanta to New York flight path.

PJ, sorry you've lost your Katness. Every pet is special.

There's probably been a billion books written...libraries funded with tax dollars need to use wisdom in choosing from such a large sea of books...not all are age appropriate for young minds...glad they removed the ones that included child *** and pedophilia. I can't imagine a parent wanting his or her child to read that, and many don't know what's going on. I wish more parents took an active role in their child's education.

Rip, I think I saw some of your clouds yesterday...not sure how close I was, but travelled through a number of beautiful areas to come home from my hike...Amissville, Hume, Orlean, Linden, Markham, Waterloo.

My wife had her yoga group at our house yesterday, so tried out a long section of trail north of Shenandoah.

My family through my late Uncle has been instrumental in funding most of the new book purchases for our local town library for many years.
Each year they send us a list of what books or material they bought with the approx 7 grand a year this endowment fund kicks off.
I study the list because I wonder what is new. The books all seemed very normal.

IMHO, every book of every type belongs on a shelf in a library, up high if need be, and in a locked case if need be. But it should be there.
This is an intellectual second amendment. You can debunk and ridicule, but you can't ban. I always thought that was part of the freedom we all assume.
Freedom of choice, I don't have to read that if I don't want to. Mein Kampf belongs somewhere.
Even though that madman gassed a dozen of my family. It's literature.

I also sit on a school board that is indirectly involved in what young minds read. I find the whole topic fascinating. Folks have a lot of concerns and fears and
always kids should be physically protected. Mental protection goes off into the weeds, wide range of opinions on what and when kids should be exposed, even know about, certain things.
If I had kids I would be very protective of them. Often telling someone they can't read or see something just makes them want it more.
Trick is to substitute better choices, that's where parents should lead. Hopefully by example.

I went through a small public school in a small town that was perfectly safe, no crime, no drugs.
No electronics. It isn't likely the norm for today.

I'm not sure I can think like a sixteen year old any more and wonder what the world is all about.
We had chores, we had homework, we had dinner right at 6pm and woe if you didn't show up with freshly washed hands.
I talk to my teenage relatives and they seem way too worldly for their age.
But then I don't text. Or Facebook. I'm just not with it.

A Letter from the Rainbow Bridge

Hi, Mom, Dad,
Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a
couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry,
Mom but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t
thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you
would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.)
Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and
we were all crying? I don’t remember much, but I do
remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your
touches and hugs…I remember hearing “we love you”
and that one last command of “Go through”. I didn’t
know what you meant, so I turned around and walked
through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest
bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other
side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You
were right to tell me to go there!
My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling
me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I
wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more
love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for
the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving
on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them
forward for me! I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it
was the right thing to do!
So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I
looked for you, because you’re always by my side,
walking with me, but this was different. I didn’t have a
collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~
I was ‘free’! Even though you weren’t there with me, I
never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of
love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the
easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would
feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I
eventually made it over the big bridge – I did it by myself,
mom. When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me
and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They
gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a
Guardian Angel!
What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been
amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before! We’re all the
same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have
Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU, mom !You’re
my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog! We had
such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but
please know that I am so happy in my new home across
The Bridge!
I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone.
Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. I’ll
check in every so often to make sure they treasure your
love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a
rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to
walk with you again. I’ll always be in your heart. I love
you, mom!
Time for me to go play...

a different take
