I just got my furnace oil tank topped off...$1158.95 for 490 L/129.6US gal

On another note, we are under a snow squall watch. Could get a couple of feet out of this. I guess I will have to plow.

Question for the group. For wife shooting lesson.
Which gun should we rent.
I lean toward Glock 9mm, but they seem to have a pretty wide selection.
I'd start any beginner off with something with very little recoil that is easy to operate. Like a K-frame S&W .22LR revolver. First step her through the rules of safe gun handling and sight picture, let her know what to expect at the range so she can dress accordingly (ball cap, no low neck lines, comfortable closed toe shoes, and if outside, a comfortable jacket she can move around in easily. After a box of 22s, ask her how she's doing, and be open to even the littlest question, some of which may seem silly but there's no such thing as a stupid question. If she's doing fine, then offer something like a S&W .380 Easy. The idea is for her to have fun, not to make it into a marathon.

FWIW, teaching someone to shoot may not be the best idea. I taught an ex-wife, then was threatened with a gun by her.😳

Got a call from Kubota neighbor seeking my assistance getting his tractor home. He’s pretty convinced that the engine is toast from its encounter with the pond. Thinks it likely ingested water via air intake. I’ll load his bucket and rotary mower on trailer then tow the tractor. Tough lesson.
check that the engine turns over with wrench on the front pulley. If not check for water in the cylinder by either remove glow plugs or injectors and turn the engine again. Turn engine until expelled. If turning hook up battery and check oil in crankcase for water. Put it all together and start

First timer? Revolver would be ideal. Then if she likes it, you can progress to an auto. Just my 2 cents.

My wife (anniversary is tomorrow, together 50 years!) I convinced her to try my 10ga goose gun with a slug shot from the hip.
"Great God" she exclaimed, but I said if someone breaks in the go to is the .500 S&W Magnum since it's loaded with a "Whitmans Sampler" mix and I can always replaster.

Wagtail...
You being a wine expert, what do you think of Jon Bon Jovis new wine? Tastes like sewer water to me.
13% and $30.00 a bottle... No thank you. Stick to my Bourbon in future. Wife was disappointed too. Luckily we had others to 'sample'.
If that's the Rosé then I have no opinion... I'm mostly a red wine drinker. Plus I use a "Vinturi" red wine aerator to automatically decant the wine into the glass. (It won't 'save' a clean-skin, but nothing can save that plonk)

There is a white wine "Vinturi" available too. I don't know what an aerator would do to a sparkling/bubbly wine.

I do enjoy a white Rhine wine (fav is a gevert-stammer) with Thai or Indian.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 4.5C and it's presently 19.2C, calm, overcast but no rain in the gauge.

Well I accomplished most of what I'd planned yesterday: the 'house' wood stacking completed and the area raked/cleaned up. I then fuelled the string-trimmer/whipper-snipper (It started on the very first pull!!!) and trimmed around the house & obstacles in anticipation of mowing.

The mowing had to be postponed as the Mad (agisting) Woman's Daughter arrived, as she usually does after school, with a couple of much younger schoolgirls IOT play/ride with the horses. Running the Z-turn could've spooked them so, safety-wise, I decided to postpone the mowing until today.

Of course, rain is expected tomorrow. <sigh>

That's about it, take care all.

My mom uses canned milk from the baking isle in the grocery store with everything including coffee. She can't grasp the idea of milk not coming from an udder.
She's right, anything else is just am imitation of the real thing.

@kenmbz - my wife wanted to learn to shoot a number of years ago. I tried getting her comfortable with what i already owned. Basically, she hated them all. So took her to the gun store and let her handle/pick a gun.

She ended up with a Rossi 971 revolver (.38/.357). And with training in safety/handling/sight picture/etc., she became very proficient very quickly. The Rossi got recalled which morphed into a Taurus revolver as a replacement.

She now is proficient with a fair number of handguns, but still prefers the basic DA revolver. The process was very eye opening to me. Made me a big believer in letting the woman make the choice.

Thank you so much...means a lot! My 95 yo Mom said a couple years ago my Dad & my wife's Mom both worked at Sears and they had family Christmas dinners. I would always make faces at this cute little girl & she made them back (we were 5-6)...then years later that was her daughter in law.
We met again as teenagers, haven't been apart more than a few days.
