BEF, if it is at all possible, retire NOW! Look at it from a different perspective.... time is flying by at an exponential pace.....You can MAKE it work.

When I had my cardiac arrest 8 years ago, I came back with a very different perspective of life. A really different way of thinking. Went back to work 3 months later.... nothing had changed for the better, only got worse (work stuff). It was hard to deal with, but I persisted to overcome 'working', trying to adapt my new 'outlook on life' to fit.
It wasn't until my injuries to my knee made me realize that I was pretty much "spinning my wheels" in place still working. The decision to retire was essentially made for me (no longer able to perform my work duties). My salary had been cut to 40% of what I had been making. Within 6-8 months, we 'learned' how to live on that reduced salary. Are there challenges? Absolutely yes.... but they can be overcome.

I don't know anything about your personal situation, but just offering my experience. I would have never thought that we could pull this off.... at the time, we were planning on me working another 8 years.

I hope you can come up with a plan that works for you!

Thanks LS.

I got a couple of hours on the tractor pulling and pushing some dirt. The dirt had some moisture in it. Made it real nice to work. Headphones on with my favorites playlist going and the machine in 4WD med range 2k rpm. She made pretty good power. I did manage to stall her one time when the rippers hooked a big rock.
A couple hours of looking back over my shoulder work is about all I can do in a sitting anymore.
So I will do some more tomorrow and so on. (y)

BEF deciding to retire is a difficult decision to make for anyone. Sometimes the decision is made for you because of health issues or work conditions that are no longer tolerable. Working longer has to be weighed against being able to to live the retirement life and not having a boss. Many have a smaller job to help in the transition to medicare and full SS. My retirement fund is suffering at the moment from the retraction of the market but hopefully it will improve soon. Got a big boost a few days a ago when the market shot up. I retired 10 years ago at 70 but I would likely have retired sooner if the work condition were bad. I was able to work out a deal with 3 day weekends for the last few years that was a big help to my wife and was limiting my overseas and travel away from home. At the end I get sucked into having to go to Steubenville almost every week and that did it I retired.

Good morning, low temp 35 and the high will be a blisteringly steamy 36°F. Wind WNW 6 mph. 30% chance of rain/flurries.
Today is going to be the warmest day for the next week. Summer is over.

Roys' passing was a shock. May he rest in peace.

Yet another dump run today, maybe two. Much to my surprise the dump was closed yesterday.

I am going to have to find the resistor I got for the Jeep heater and see if I can rig it to work in the Kioti. If not, I still have high speed and can open a window when it gets too hot.
Kioti is almost as proud of their parts as Kubota is of their tractors.

Have a safe day all
