Thanks will check out the thread.
It has strong compression, caps lets in air ok, starter fluid does not make it run despite having good spark whatever that means
Spark+gas+air+compression=explosion
so I'm baffled, but I often am.

me too will check it out more carefully tomorrow. The wire for the stop switch may be the problem. We will see

Pressure test the crankcase. If the seals are worn and leak, it sucks air and makes the mixture too lean. You can close off the exhaust port by putting a piece of inner tube over it and bolting the muffler back on. You will have to make a flange that bolts on in place of the carb with a nipple to attach your test hose. You should be able to pump it up with your hand pump’s pressure side and make sure it holds pressure.

I will check the impulse line first hoping to find a leak before going to next step

many times, the thin diaphragm tears in the one end of the carburetor. Sometimes its the bulb and it's line.

Is the air pressure holding, a test of the diaphragm?

Yes the pressure is holding in both the tank and carb

Couldn’t have the room doors open direct to garage, but If you put in firewall per code I don’t think they could deny it.
I would put bath in a corner, then maybe the bedroom and kitchen.

Yes, I would put the bathroom in the corner, then bedroom (would have an ensuite), then kitchen.

I think the firewall could be eliminated though, by simply making the bathroom as the only room with direct access to garage. Saves all that unnecessary expense.

garage leads to bathroom,
bathroom leads to kitchen

simple, code approved, and cheaper :)
