Couple of intermittent rain showers this afternoon took the gauge to almost 1 1/2", more showers predicted for this evening, so a really nice amount for a change.

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end.... the latest forecast is just for scattered then isolated T-storms for Thursday and Friday.

But, then the river of moisture tracks back over us and Sat, Sun, and Mon, is again predicting heavier rain. I can't complain. Having a brief drying period will allow the moisture to soak in.

Walking out to the shop, I noticed the weeds are happy! I swear they doubled in size since yesterday! I might have to break out the string trimmer tomorrow.....

Good (Thursday) morning. Mild overnight low of 5.4C, overcast with 1mm of rain in the gauge. It's currently 13.2C and may reach 14C. It's also calm but the Bureau of Many-guesses say that the wind is going to increase this arvo.

Early morning "tractor fun" as the agisted horses needed a new round of hay (Winter feeding = they go through a lot). I let the owner know last evening as she'd texted me that she & daughter were going down to Hobart today, so she asked if I could put a new round out and they'd 'net' it prior to heading down South. Of course it was raining (open station) so I just threw on my 'driza-bone' and Akubra to get the job done before she arrived.

Yesterday's Pyengana cheese run done. It's a lovely drive and there weren't too many tourists holding me up both there and back... there are very few passing areas on that stretch of highway.

That's about it, take care all.

Yes it was brutal this afternoon in Ohio @rswyan. Our high was also 94. My wife is not feeling well from being outside working in the heat. I had a recalcitrant chain saw to get running, so was in shade. 2nd coil failure in 2 years. Had to look up the parts at the Stihl dealer since the “Stihl guy” was off today and no one else knew how to read the parts diagrams . Then they confirmed my suspicion that Stihl has a problem with that specific coil when they told me “we sell a lot of these coils”.

Now for the good news. And don’t try this at home @RedNeckGeek, you may burn down most of CA!

We had a dead ash tree come down, sort of, in last weeks storm. It broke off about 5.5’ above the ground and literally had a wedge in the middle the upper part of the tree was sitting on. It was dangerous since it was hanging in live trees and was moving in any wind, but wouldn’t fall. There was no safe place to stand and cut any of it. I tried pulling it with a lot of chain and succeeded in breaking my choker.

So yesterday, I started a fire in the break. Eventually, it appeared to go out with no joy on getting the tree down. We had to go to town this morning, wife went to the barn and when she came back, she said there was some smoke from the tree and it looked like the wedge was smaller. When we got back from town, the tree was still hanging. We had lunch, she went to the barn after lunch, came back all excited, the tree was on the ground! I cut the burnt parts off and rolled them down the bank into the ditch. Now I can safely cut up the 2 other trees that are on the ground.

Good evening all. 72ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind today, sky became partly cloudy, and high temp was 96ºF, HI 100ºF. Men's meeting to start today, then finish mowing the lawn in front. Went to town for lunch, and meds and groceries. Nap after putting groceries away. Dog sitting again tomorrow.
Kyle glad you got a shower, no rain here since about June 3. Good luck on welder !
Scaredy could use a bit of your extra rain :) Thanks for shoulder update sounds like progress.
Roy send rain to Texas for a week, we will love you :)
Drew like Rube meet Goldberg. I am impressed with Paul's wide knowledge, and the airplanes he flies are just as much toyland as the equipment he has. Did not have a bender at work, but did have EDM access, think broken drill extraction and rusty stud removal.
Billy Scooter is 14 yo half beagle , half Jack Russel. Bonnie mini Australian Shepard weaned about 2 months ago. Thanks for R rule info, not living on coast, did not know. Yes, voting for someone is a good feeling.
Thomas sorry everyone no show except for fox. Hope better luck tonight.
Drew hope hardware store could help.
Paul what was meeting with FAA about? Glad airport open again early :)
Rich good plugs will get you by for a while on chainsaw. Hope you get cleanup down with what is available for saws .

PJ glad not too hot today. I don't remember any full service on MO side of river.
RS hope Kubota work progressing well.
RNG Hope you get somewhere with solar contractor. It has been hot in North Texas as well. Weather guy said the other day Dallas will be close to record number of 100ºF Days for June :(
Ted what will you do with 1 inch of rain? Enjoy you inside rainy day.
Drew glad you found stuff at hardware store. Hope your last meeting goes well.
Paul worked for Schwitzer MFG for 1 1/2 years, they made engine cooling fans. Amazing what would happen to fan when u-joint not phased.
Bird sounds like that brought back memories.
Ted impressed full service station made it into 90's
David hope you got your dog food.
Ted good to hear about the rain, sorry there is flash floodng in burn area.

Mostly, Pebbles has scratched me on arms and legs.
Not sure how IP camera settings got changed. It doesn’t have default passwords, which is how most get hacked, and I change the ports from standard, and you have to get past router port forward.
It was still running and saving pictures on the SD card up until I disconnected it, so got some unflattering pics of me up on the ladder looking at it. Lol

Greetings All,

Busy, Dry day today, thunderstorm tonight. I fueled up today for $1.9799 / L - waited in line for about 15 min, as each pump of 6 had lines 4 cars deep. Elsewhere, All over town it was $2.1799 / L at the time. I hope to visit daughter, son in law and grandson tomorrow. The fabrication on my Zero Turn mower is progressing along re hand controls. My tires should be here later in the week (shipping was apparently 6-10 business days). My son is having some challenges "adulting is tough" he says - he lives in Vancouver (very expensive) and needs to move, so rent / damage deposit is his concern at moment. I gave him some pointers.

LS - I have knee issues (as well as my shoulder injury) - I can relate. I missed the fasteners post in Groaners, that's funny

Roy J - that describes several of my friends :)
If you go with free running nuts, use lock washers!!!

Prayers continue.

Busy day shopping and paying rego and buying dog bed. Got home and got the tractor going and mowed the rough paddock and then used the bucket to clear about 1/4 acre of scrub and pushed over several dead trees then pushed all into a heap. Then I had to level the ground where the tyres (tires) had dug holes. All came out looking pretty schmick to what it was like before. I then retreated to my cave and had a few Woodstocks and played some music. A satisfying day for a change.
Lesley is still having a few problems with cpap masks but is getting adjustments to her equipment done via wifi by the apnea center. Very handy not having to drive to the city all the time for adjustments. Hopefully she will get some decent sleep tonight.
Another glorious warm day. Hard to believe we are in the middle of winter. No rain, no clouds, no wind.
Keep safe everyone.

good morning all
cooler day, 63 going up to only 69 with showers this afternoon.

yes I will drive over to Lambertville this morning and get a piece of steel pipe to replace that copper.
Lets' just say I was proving the concept.
too many years as insurance underwriter. Safety first.
Plus if tire fell off on the trip I'd never hear the end of it.... :sneaky:
which it would not, it's on there really well. But the copper begs questions. Like what fool did this?...

having lunch with old friend today in Lederach, thought about pulling trailer behind me and stopping at Paul's on the way but will do that another day.
I do think the hitch stabilizer bracket works, no more thump thumping. Not like pulling a landscape trailer is ever going to be quiet.

Ted, that poster is marvelous, should be in every shop.
Much more interesting than the solemn There is a Right Way And A Wrong Way
Of course we all do it My Way.

have a nice day guys.
Mrs Buppies, feel better. I'm sure your hubby wants to take you dancing, if only a slow dance, so hope each day is better.

70 and shizzle drizzle. Cloudy and going up only 4 degrees. May see sun before sunset.

Buppies, sorry your wife is still ailing.

Roy, hope the doctor is good to you. ;)

LS, so glad you got a real rain.

Mowed until the storm ran me in. Glad we only caught the side of it...leading edge had 80mph straight line winds and took down many trees and power poles...70,000 without power yesterday. I only had small sticks to clean up.

Roasted a couple of batches and drinking one already.

picture Ted skipping around his backyard
Singing In The Rain I'm Singing In The Rain!

if you like to grow things, rain is wonderful. Now all those cool cactus flowers will come out, like a Nat Geo show on the desert.
Time to go take pictures.

as the scorpions complain, geez it's the monsoon season again...
Inch and a half rain would fill some arroyos.

GM crew.

67 outside this AM, heading to mid 70's.

Been busy in multiple directions.

My area got pounded, pounded again yesterday with storms. Half the county is without power. Hundreds of trees down and lots of roads are impassable as crews are working to remove them. Seems our weather people have now caught on to the new classifications of thunderstorms. The ones yesterday were classified as "destructive".

I am still going back and forth with our insurance company about our March claims. Have new ones now. We are thinking about reporting our issues to the State Board of Insurance.

Hope all are on the mends, stay positive.

If you go with free running nuts, use lock washers!!!

I promise. By the time I'm done with this it will withstand a rocket launch. It will meet nuclear energy code.

trailer has zerk lubed bearings,(EZ Lube?) which I like. Something you can see. My guess is not too much to not blow out any internal seals but you always wonder
what kind it is, made to have lube go through, or the lube pressure does something you really don't want it to do. I'm defaulting to the latter on a wheel bearing.
Now my mower spindle is something different. Squirts out the bottom. And for sure stop once you see any part move, like the top cover of the EZ lube assembly.

Riptides, you get some serious storms there. I'd sure make sure no big trees near my home. Though I love big trees...

So much dead ash in this area, tree companies simply can't keep up. Making serious money with crews going constantly.
Constant din of big chippers running. Chain saws howling.
All noises that are hard on my bad ear, particularly that chipper. Whatever harmonic that thing puts off is bad news.
And the lot for township to dump brush is one block from my home. Every Tuesday morning that chipper fires up and sometimes I have to go inside.
Once I put my headphones on, that worked pretty well.
