Good morning!!!!

Was 49 when I went out before sunrise to feed the critters. Couldn't find a cloud or any sign of humidity! Felt great.

I had some catching up to do, but looks like we're gonna need that helicopter, Don, to liberate Toppop from the hospital "prison." Who was it last time? Was it BEF?

Kyle, prayers you don't get sick.

BEF, special day for your Dad...and for you, too, especially with a pig pickin' at the end.

Speaking of the handicapped and parking places, yesterday I was waiting for a take out order of chicken at that place along the railroad tracks I mentioned a week ago...standing with my back at the door, I heard someone obviously struggling to pull the door open...so I turn around and a nice young woman was trying to pull the door open while on crutches, and it was one of those fast self-closing doors...so she was getting pushed aside. So I pushed it open for her with my outstretched arm, and she slipped through the gap, looking up into my eyes as she passed, thanking me. Now I know what color to state my eyes are, next time I renew my license...since she said, "You have such Caribbean Blue eyes." 🤩

Let me tell you about the crazy weather we had Friday...it got up to 98, just as the weatherman promised...I tried to beat the heat and the predicted wind with some backpack spraying...but with so many small targets of bindweed and poison ivy, it took 3 hours and lots of walking to spray 6 gallons. Then in the late afternoon, an unpredicted storm came roaring in...honestly, I don't think I've ever seen it rain so hard...and we had grape size hail for 8 minutes. You know how on the radar it shows various colors for rain intensity from blue to green to orange and deeper shades of red, then purple...our little spot went from purple to white.

Happy Fathers' Day! If our culture celebrated good men more, and more men acted better, we'd have less trouble with the youth.

I got to check something off my bucket list yesterday...after so many hours of hunting, fishing, and hiking, I finally saw a rattlesnake in the wild. I've actually picked certain trails to hike after reading a review that said to beware of them at a certain spot of boulders.

This one was on a trail running along a stream called Big Run...I was watching out for poison ivy, which was real thick in this spot, and almost stepped on it. It moved into the ivy before I could get the pic. Zoom in to count the rattles, which buzzed everytime I spoke to it.

It was down near the end of this valley.View attachment 750648

nice story and well said Wngsprd.

I'm surprised how cool the whole country is right now except for the central area.
So...the question is, does the heat rise and come up to us, or does the cold sink and come down to us?
Or is it the constant battle of both?

Good Morning.
It’s 55 and climbing to 70 under clear skies and a good breeze.

Never got to weed wack yesterday, ended up repairing a mini split installation. Repaired a leak, pressure tested, evacuated and charged it. Before that I was at the airport checking out the runway repaving project, which is looking good.

Ended the day with a nice dinner with youngest son, fiancé and future MIL. It was the first time that my wife and I met the MIL.

Today I will likely take the string trimmer for a walk

Good morning! 61 now, was a chilly 46 when I crawled out of bed. Supposed to get to near 75 today. Never got above 66 yesterday and was windy all day.

Happy Fathers Day!

More clean up yesterday. Since it was windy, stayed away from the tree hanging in another tree. But it was moving in the wind, so believe a tug from the tractor will drop it. I have a long chain to stay well clear.

I have a dethatcher that uses tines like a hay rake. We had it at our previous place. Hardly use it here. But tried it yesterday as a rake for the small stuff. It worked great and saved a lot of back pain using the hand rake. The sweeper then made short work of what was left. The 2 large pear trees that were in front of the house are now gone except for the root balls that may need mechanical power to remove.

We may do some normal lawn and garden maintenance today. can’t get behind in that work.

My wife has assorted birds. Yesterday, we had help from the ducks. They were rooting around in the pear tree debris while we were sawing and loading up debris. They didn’t mind the saw or tractors running. It was funny.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Yes, our scouts do it every flag day, but I’m not active with scouts now. I could have done it when I had a big fire going a couple weeks ago, but forgot.
IIRC, your local VFW or other veterans groups will of dispose of old flags properly

morning all, late start, still windy going to 74 and sunny

Surprise party for friends son went well and he was actually suprised.
My son was asked to pay some songs. It was too chilly for the pool, but everyone had a good time, they throw a good party.

Fuddy - always good to walk away from an accident with a small reminder vs. eye getting damaged. Another war wound for the story telling.

Buppies - never liked sewer snakes

Sounds like a nice dinner Popg

Need to replace a fret bar on sons guitar. doesn't look like it will be too bad. Just need to order the right pre-cut replacements.

Have a great fathers day and Sunday all,

Off to buy a sports coat. The excitement :)

Really breezy...chilly (55°) too. Don't think it's going to make it to the forecasted 65°.

Beautiful day for sailing or flying a kite...bit too brisk for anything else. Definitely too brisk for trimming branches (which had been my plan today). No doubt, I would have either pinched the chain or the branch wouldn't go where intended...or both...
That's OK...I'm still tweaking this laptop

Happy Father's Day to all you dad's.

Wng, good story glad you didn't step on that snake. Looks like 6 rattles maybe 7?

I'm at the clinic getting tested. Feel ok, just sinus and sneezing. Waiting for results...20 minutes now....

Not going to early church as planned. If negative, I will try to make 11am service.

Our garden is toast. Triple digit weather got here a month early. Out of 12 tomato plants, 9 have died mysteriously, 3 are shriveled up. Might have gotten about 20 skimpy tomatoes. Trying to keep zucchini alive, but hose water just isn't as good as rainwater.

Spent yesterday trying to get new insurance cards online, then I go get the mail at 3 and there they were....only took them 15 days to get here ..

It was 102 in the shade yesterday on my back porch.

Prayers for Randy, and the rest of you.

68F and sunny @ 11:00, heading up to a high of 73F - 75F, depending on which forecast one looks at. That's actually a downgrade from the last forecast I saw yesterday where they were calling for a high of 81F. Winds supposedly out of the NNW @ 10 - 15 mph so probably another long pants day. Looks pretty calm out there right now however.

Got a few overhanging branches trimmed back yesterday, still more to do in a few spots though.

Hopper feeder due to be refilled.

Move seedlings out of garage so they get some light.

Plants in pots out front will be due for a watering today, as most of them didn't get watered yesterday. How droopy they are will dictate how soon that needs to be done. Squash I've planted over the last several days has been pretty root bound.

Some of the pumpkin seeds I planted the other day are starting to poke through the soil.

Trip down to the corner to pick up 3.5 gallons of gas (enough to fill one of the two tanks on the Cub)

Front lawn is more than due to be mowed at this point, probably raise the deck height up again to 3.5" since the Ten Day forecast says we're due for a period of warmer temps (80's/90's) after tomorrow.

If the winds end up being light enough, I may go ahead and pull the tarps up off the grass where the enlarged garden will be and then mix up glyphosate and spray whatever remains under there. If not, winds are supposed to be even lighter tomorrow.

Cultivate and mulch areas where I planted the squash and tomatoes over the last couple of days.

That should be enough for what remains of the day.

Hope everyone has a great Fathers Day ... (y)

Good morning to all! Low was 54°, high is only expected to be in the mid / upper 70's.....NICE! We got another T-storm yesterday afternoon, short lived one, only .20 in the gauge.

A couple sprinkles during the overnight and this morning. Temp has only gone up to 57° currently at 09:00 and a nice steady rain for the last hour. There's a 1/4" in the gauge already. The weather guessers were forecasting the rain for this afternoon..... That's ok, I'll take the rain anytime!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the dads out there!

Randy, hope you can continue to get better and get home soon! Prayers sent!

Ken, looked like a nice surprise/ get together. Good luck replacing the fret.

Drew, you're just a grass cutting machine! How acres would you estimate you now have groomed? Glad you got a good nights rest!

Wng, glad you spotted the rattlesnake. I have only seen 3 rattlesnakes here on the property in the past 25 years. A few more on the roads (mushed). I do give them a chance to get away. If they persist to stay local to the house....well you can guess what happens.....

Doug, nice Stuka! What engine ? ....can't see in the pic, nice concealment. Last night, I made the mistake of prepping a plane to fly this morning. I told the wifey what I was planning..... she said "you're going to jinx yourself by getting it ready"..... I guess she was right.... not gonna happen with the rain. We NEVER get rain in the morning!

Wagtail, English please?;) .... just kidding. I get the translation. Now, if you start throwing in some slang, well.....

Kyle, hope the results are negative. Sorry about the garden. After struggling with keeping the garden going last year, we didn't plant one this year. Just growing landscape plants instead.

The second planter is completed, ready to get placed in the courtyard. Not going to happen today. No sense in making muddy tracks with the tractor. All plans for today's outside activities have been scratched..... except for sitting on the front porch listening to the rain on the metal roof. Relaxing....

I might take the opportunity to continue drawing some plans and the mater estimate for a shop expansion. If I get that done, then compare price to getting a metal building or pole barn. I am anticipating / expecting the expansion cost will be a lot less $.

Everyone have a great day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad’s out there

67°F and .01 inches rain

Continue my scrap burning, but have to say, still getting pangs of wastefulness when I toss a nice 10 inch piece into the fire.
Still need to make a dump run, but like Roy, want to do a full load. Facility only open Tue, Fri, & Sun. Only open when staffed, meaning a county employee sleeping in cab of truck. Heard it was an EPA thing that facilities had to be manned. Waste of taxpayer $ to my thinking.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
