Had a follow-up appointment with my primary care doc yesterday....BP is back to normal, gained about 8-9 lbs. (which I needed), heart and lungs sound good. But, I have a pretty bad cold....lot of coughing and congestion. Reckon I'll pop out and get some kind of cough medication this morning

Doctor said 26% heart doing well considering with ICD and new pills, but I seem to tired easier etc....maybe age age has something to do with it. ;)
Same here...age has something to do with it, but I think it's more the ticker ain't what it used to be.
I'm relatively active (for my age), but I do have to stop and take a breath more often

71, trying to get to 100 to be in Don's elite company, but only gonna see 98, according to the weather folks that sent us under the house yesterday..."tornado warnings, seek shelter immediately" about 7pm. We gathered up some valuables and lantern, and into the crawl space...pretty good headroom in the first section. The tornado box and the arrow of direction came right over our place, so we took it seriously. We're glad it broke up and moved south, but wished we got more than .01" of rain. Rich, sorry your place took a hit. Hope you get power back soon.

Yep, Toppop, we're at that age where we get something fixed, like your eyes, and then something else goes haywire...we sound like old cars. Prayers said.

Thomas, keep on healing!

Roy, get well!

Buppies, drink a lot of water!

Put the lug into the tractor and took off to till another food plot. Got it planted as the storm was approaching...bought a seed mix from the local feed and seed store...Sunflower, Soybean, Cowpea, Millet, Buckwheat, Korean Lespedeza, Rape, Turnip, Chicory...a little something for everyone.

Good Morning.
It’s 70 and might make it to 90 today after the morning fog yields to clear skies.

Yesterday I was successful in picking up the plane from Greensboro. Technology has come a long way since I started flying, we now have on board lightning detection showing strikes as lightning bolts-

Satellite downlinked NEXRAD showing weather-

IMG_9149.jpg

And onboard radar showing absolutely real time weather that we can tilt up or down to see if we will be over the weather.

At any rate leaving Greensboro and heading up to Philly yesterday, it nice to have a toolbox like that at my disposal!

Got home in time to do a few chores and get the trash and recycling down to the street. Cleaned out the rain collector on the Davis weather station. It’s old and clunky compared to the Tempest, but it sure is accurate.

When I saw the comment about 71 and hoping to make it to 100, I first thought it was referencing age, not temp.

I finally have some time to get some mowing done, I’m not going anywhere until Monday. Have a meeting on Tuesday, might have to a short trip Thursday, but then should have a week or two off.
Looks like I won the random drug test lottery (again), so that will give me something to do while I wait for the dew to dry off the grass.

Good morning! A surprising cool 72˚F heading to only 98˚. An off white cloudless sky.

I get a real estate report for this neighborhood on Friday mornings. It appears to be the end of the real estate boom here. 28 houses on the market just reduced their price between $20,000 and $50,000.

Popgadget, When driving I wish I had some of that technology on board to dodge the hail storms. Is there an app with that for apple CarPlay?

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 5:30AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 76F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph.
The wind's been making a racket all night. I'm with you, Ted, I hate wind!

Not again, Randy! Hope you're back on your feet in no time, and they spring you outa there real quick!

Maybe that was the same storm that hit us hard earlier in the week, Rich. Hope your cleanup doesn't bring you too many bad surprises.

Those are some pretty spiffy flying tools, Paul. It would be nice to have something like that on the bike, but the version Garmin sells for their GPS is not very good and costs a LOT of money. I put bird spikes on the rain collector of the Davis here to keep it from filling up with bird doody.

I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed house sellers out there, Don, with the interest rates headed up.

Speaking of GPS, I had to replace the bracket for the XM receiver because the last version vibrated enough to compromise reception. I think a piece of 16 gauge steel should solve that problem. Topped up air, oil, and gas on the bike, got it packed, and I'm headed out in a few hours for Lake Tahoe. Gonna be a brisk couple of nights up there, and I hope my host can find a warm corner somewhere for my sleeping bag.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

TGIF gang!

"I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed house sellers out there, Don, with the interest rates headed up."

On the other hand it may be better for buyers unless they just payed a lot over list for a house.

I still hope the economy will settle down. I blame the Fed for a lot of the problems.

Chris

69°F and thunderstorms this morning, going up to 92° today. Front of the storm hit us about 05:30, and caused some damage in the area. All we got was a few small limbs down and some hairs tossed around. Power was out when I passed through Troy IL on the way to work. Rain just stopped here in north STL city about 10 minutes ago. Thankfully, we'll only have highs in the upper 80s for the weekend, then 102° by Tuesday and upper 90s through next weekend. Hot here this year.

I was apparently out of the loop on the driveway arrangements. They didn't just drop new gravel for me. Wife had them dig out the existing rock and asphalt mix and replace the whole thing with new rock. Not only did they spreads it, but they rolled it as well. They also widened it by about two feet. Drives pretty nice now.

I was apparently also left out of the loop on the shooting berm load. I had specifically asked them for dirt. It seems, however, that The Wife told them it was OK to just drop the stuff they dug from the driveway back there. When I walked back there and saw it, 🤬 ... let's just say I was a bit disappointed. Went back to the house and showed her a picture of it, noting that we can't shoot into that. Now I have to figure out what to do with that stuff. Probably just use it for the back of the berm, then pile clean dirt in front of it. (sigh) Was really hoping to get that project done this weekend. Oh well, so it goes.

Hope you're feeling better today, Randy.

Drambuie....LOVE the stuff. But it is a winter time drink for me, so I can claim Alien's and Wagtail's season and get right on it!
Bit sweet for me...maybe need a mixer to take the edge off

Walking back from mailbox late last night with a handful of mail, walked past garden and noticed weeds getting tall in the corn. So pulled weeds with one hand, fanning bugs off of me the the mail.
Noticed deer tracks, and corn leaves eaten.
This morning put up the deer fencing, so late leaving for Ohio. Going to see Dad in a parade tonight.

Good morning to all! Low of 60°, high is forecasted as only 83°.... I don't believe it will stay that cool. More chances for T-storms for the next 5 days!

I emptied the rain gauge this morning.... just about a 1/4" of rain. There were a couple of big flies in there, so my guess is .20". All the trees got a bath, washing off that fine layer of dust. They look much greener this morning. Now the wait begins to see all the weeds pop up everywhere overnight!

Rich, I hope storm cleanup goes quickly without too much trouble.

Wng, glad the storm missed you. I bet it's scary waiting it out under the house!

Roy, glad you got a good Dr's report. Hope you can get over the cold / cough. I still have a random cough, usually at night. Took a while to get over it. I agree with age slowing us down, but it's always nice to stop and take that deep breath.....

Paul, that is one nice electronic setup. Way beyond my electronic capabilities...

Randy, hope you are able to get home today.

RNG, enjoy the trip. Hope you're able to find that 'warm' spot.

Drew, fingers are crossed for a successful loading of the trailer! I'm sure you'll find a solution.

Doug, are you still planning on the maiden flight tomorrow?

Dennis, Wave at your dad for me! Enjoy the trip.

I'm going to take advantage of the "cool" weather to get the second raised bed planter assembled today. I was able to use my wheeled shop stool when sanding the top rail, so the knee wasn't complaining too much.... frequent breaks to sit down for a few also help.

Everyone have a great day!

Another drink? Or mix up the Drambuie with something?
Mix the Drambuie
Stepdaughter added Ginger Beer (which is spicy if you get the right stuff). She enjoyed it...

Any other suggestions for a mixer? I think Drambuie is normally the mixer to a more potent spirit most the time...Scotch is what I've read

Morning all, 79 going to 91 and sunny- seems like summer if full on.

Drew - recovery from Epidural - hope it was worth the pain- next time make them give you something for the pain first.

Toppop - feel better and keep your head up-45degrees- sometimes nurses forget.

Rich-sounds like a like of damage and cleanup. Stay safe and don;t push yourself too hard.

Thomas - sounds like improvement- did they give you a time frame to get to a certain percentage higher?

Day job is getting longer, hope to finish up by 1am.

Stay safe and be well,

Rabbits everywhere now that the foxes have moved on.
