Wifey just put some dessert in the oven..... blueberries wrapped in pastry crust....definitely having some with vanilla ice cream!

I have to go put my comfy sweat pants on now, anticipating needing some room.....

/ Good morning!!!! #151,002
They are done! Unfortunately, the blueberries were too watery and flowed out of the crust. No worries.... I'll spoon that up no problem!

Good Sunday mid-arvo. It was a mild overnight temp of 9C and the predicted rain showed up at around 0430. The high only topped 12C. I did check the gauge after coming home from Church and, at 1100, it had 17.6mm. My tanks are full to overflowing.

About the only thing accomplished was getting a load of wood in, during a break in the rain, for the heater. There's more rain 'on the horizon', so it's a comfy day in with a nice bottle of Merlot. 🍷

Take care all and... cheers!

good morning all
lovely day here, 56 going up to around 80 in beautiful weather.
Great timing for musical event at church this afternoon.
going to be a long day, will lead church then stay most of afternoon.

need to get a bag of ice for cooler and a hoagie for lunch.

Miami was really flooded yesterday, city has major problems with rising water levels

/ Good morning!!!! #151,008
with the major lakes drying up in the West, they say 60 percent of our food comes from the area affected by this drought.
maybe we all should be putting in veggie gardens this year. Though Southern CA is still letting folks water their lawns at least once a week.
Can't imagine that will last much longer.

how about a water pipeline from Miami to California?

Grilled couple steaks for supper last night
IMG_4792.JPG

3 of us ate 1 of them.

After supper, Got more mulch in ranger for my wife to use. I wasn’t planning on doing anything, but decided since no wind would be good time to mix up weed juice and test the fixed sprayer. Got things out, heard the birds in barn again, getting in and out where soffit dips because 1 piece fascia came off. So, got ladder out and reinstalled fascia, plus fixed another fascia piece that had started to come off once and I had put a couple roofing nails thru to hold it.
Bout that time wife needed more mulch in ranger.
Finally got 2 gallons of roundup mixed, and sprayed weeds under blue spruce, and around barn and garden edge.
Then watered plants in garden.

Went to bed early.

Mostly, dropped pole to install new halyard that had broke awhile back. I’ve been saying I needed to replace it. The set screws are missing from the top piece of the pole, but it fits over top of pole and can’t come off when pole is vertical. Nice having new flag up.

55F and cloudy @ 07:30, headed up to a high of around 81F or so today. Heard some light rain hitting the roof when I first got up but it's not expected to last.

Moved the seedlings out into the garage first thing yesterday, then moved them outside into the sun for about 10 - 20 minutes since it was fairly cool, then back into the shade for the rest of the day.

The zucchini and yellow crookneck squash in the starter trays were looking sad (droopy) so I gave them a little water and after a bit transplanted 12 yellow crookneck out of their two starter trays (they were in the pink ones) into 6" round pots. Was a good call, judging from the roots. Still have about that many left to do, but they're combination of yellow crookneck and zucchini.

After that I watered The Woman's dahlias.

Then I went around back and did some clean up there, still more to go today.

Took compostables from that up to add to the pile + one dead chipmunk from the trap in front to the burn pile. Missed the one in back - evidently a coon fished him out of the bucket in the night ... and left his half-chewed carcass by the basement door ... 🤮

Also weeded the day lilies which are still in pots and watered them and the asparagus.

Went around to put some blood meal on the Orienpet and Asiatic lily bed and discovered that someone had been munching on one of the Orienpet lilies and had torn a bunch of leaves off ...

Suspect it may be groundhogs, had seen the mother and one of her young ones out around the hopper feeder earlier. Scoped out their hole under the kitchen porch that I had been filling in and noticed that it looked like they had been digging it out again ... 🤬

Went into the garage and grabbed the one bucket of used cat litter and took it out and dumped it down the hole.

Have a couple of pounds of red cayenne pepper coming in from Amazon on Monday ... :devilish:

Refilled hopper feeder which was empty. Orange half still on the feeder this morning.

Rearranged pepper plants so that they would get the afternoon sun.

Took a break around 18:00 to eat dinner, cleaned up the leftovers from our trip to Eadies.

After that I potted the 4 bare root "Fanal" Astilibe plants, to let them get a start before any critters start chewing on them.

Also did a little organizing and clean up in the garage.

Brought the little seedlings back into the house, watered them, and stuck them under the grow lights, also adjusted timer for 16 hours of light.

Last thing was to repot some tomato and eggplant seedlings into larger plastic pots from the peat pots.

Not sure about what all I'll get into today, still trying to come out of the fog ...

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)

"Chris commercial diesel gets a lot more, don't know about commercial gas."

I remember the JD service guy complaining about a JD 1050 tractor that was in for a rebuild after overheating. He said it shouldn't need to be rebuilt until after 10,000 hours. I doubt I could put 10k on a tractor in my lifetime.

Considering I probably average 100 hours per year on my tractor...well, do the math.
I would think the 1050 was a real working tractor...

Good morning.
It’s 63 and only going up 10 degrees under sunny skies and a low dew point.

Yesterday was similar weather, but a bit warmer. Go the the mail box sandblasted and primed, as I decided against powder coating it.
IMG_9029.jpg

Hooked the tractor up to progressive mower and mowed all the open areas, my tire maintenance paid off, they were all good to go.
Blew it off and scraped the bottoms of the decks and parked it.
The windows in the tractor were so dusty dirty that I could see out of them going into the low afternoon sun, so I decided to was the whole tractor. I used the Stihl hand held blower as a chamois to dry it off, and as I was finishing my grand son and his friend were walking up the lane. So we all went for a tractor ride.

Everyone had fun, we ended up at my sons for a nice steak dinner.

Today, I’ve got to mow with the Lazer (at the 3700 RPM full throttle setting), then put the loader and post hole auger on the tractor to set the mailbox post. Need to do some down spout work on the shop and a bit of plumbing at the restaurant as well, so it will be a full day.

Got the mailbox sandblasted and primed, as I decided against powder coating it.
I think if some yahoo tried to smash that mailbox with an aluminum bat, he'd get a real surprise!!!

Decades ago, I worked for a company that built tracked vehicles (you know...tanks) for the military.
One component was a cover for the headlamp (IIRC) which looked like a mailbox. ¼" armor plate made a fine mailbox...
