Picked up the materials and a pizza from Costco for dinner.... hit the spot!
As soon as I got home, the "breezes" converted to WIND ! Got the stuff into the garage and headed into the house just before the dirt storm kicked in.... Round two of the forecasted five rounds .... Friday is supposed to be the worst with 70mph gusts "in certain areas"..... I wonder where those areas are?

I can't wait to get this patch off my chest... and not have to keep another electronic device near me at all times..... I was waiting to get spam calls ...🤪

I will probably jinx myself, but I can't believe you guys are getting snow.... hopefully there won't be a repeat for a few months at least.

Drew, don't get any fancy ideas for an outdoor kitchen.... a grill will suffice!
It is absolutely crazy what some folks will spend for one! I stopped watching those "home improvement " shows because they were so over the top in both the project and the costs....$ 100K for the kitchen, $75K for the man cave....

When I was building the cottage, I got prices for just 10 feet of granite countertops.... $2500.... this was from 4 years ago. I can only imagine the prices now. No thanks.

Gonna go put the feet up...

Everyone have a great evening!

We had granite countertops put in the kitchen when we remodeled back in 2017. I wouldn't do it again. They look great, but I've lost track of how many things we've broken just with incidental bumps against it. Besides being expensive, they are completely unforgiving.

Good afternoon all. Still stuck in the topsy-turvy cycle of mid-Autumn weather. Yesterday continued to be a (welcome) rainy day with 17.2mm in the gauge this morning. The high was 15C and the overnight low was 7C... today is bright sunshine and currently 22.4C.

I've been into town for mail & groceries. Stopped off at the local "Mitre 10" to pick up a 30m garden hose to replace a section of the horse-trough system... UV rays had put a split in the existing section. I repaired that but, if it happened once, it'll happen again so I might as well replace the whole section.

Tomorrow I'll chain harrow paddocks 3,4 & 5, as the horses have been shifted to paddock 6... I may have time to mulch the paddocks with the Z-turn before heading off to an evening meeting.

Take care all!

Mostly, yea common sense thinking, but not a fire dept issue, but Dept of Health

“Open Burning
An open outdoor fire or open burning emits pollutants directly into the ambient air and includes agricultural, residential, and prescribed burning. The rules regulating open burning are Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR) Section 11-60.1 Subchapter 3. Generally open burning is prohibited with a few exceptions such as cooking, fire training, and agricultural burning with a valid permit. Other types of open burning require approval from DOH-CAB. Since January 2012, “backyard” burning of garbage and yard waste has been prohibited on all islands.”

Hence I had a “cooking” fire.

37° right now...high in the upper 40's today.

Good day at work yesterday. Rotten drive in though between the rain/snow and very slick roads. Made it there safely, but a slow drive (45-50 MPH and sometimes slower)

Back on site today...probably not necessary to be on-site, but I left my laptop there so I'm going in

Now, a very embarrassing story...I wasn't going to divulge this...but, what the hell...
When I dropped the snow blower off last weekend, I had a lot of trouble getting the blower disconnected from the quick hitch. I ended up tapping (rather aggressively) the QH frame, but it finally dropped. The QH is an aftermarket (can't recall the brand) and it fits some implements quite well, others not so well. Reckon I should just buy a Deere QH...had one, but it didn't have an adjustable top hook, so I had replaced it with a cheap one.
Anyway, had the blower setting on some wooden block and the parking strut also on a block...got in the tractor and drove off.
I noticed the next day, the snow blower wasn't sitting upright as it should have been, but a rainy day and I wasn't going out to check.
Since there was a predicted 3-5 inches of snow forecast yesterday, figured I'd put the front blade on, so I dropped the pallet forks and rigged the blade
Here's the embarrassing part...
While walking around the back of the tractor to install the lynch pin in the blade's loader mount, I noticed two hydraulic lines connected to the rear remote...a definite "Aw ****" moment.
Yep...I hadn't disconnected the snow blower's chute rotation hydraulics!
The reason the blower was now setting canted is because before the hose fittings broke, I'd pulled the 800 lb. blower about a foot or so, off the boards it was resting on.
Doesn't appear any damage to the rear remote or the chute fittings on the blower, but I really need to see if the threads were damaged or any other damage.
Anyway, at minimum, new hydraulic hoses are going to be required. Local hydraulics shop might be able to replace the broken fittings.
When I remove the fittings from the blower, I'll let you if there's any other damage...
A truly SENIOR moment, eh?

good morning all
should be a nice day, still chance of another frost tonight.

Roy I did the same thing with my Long grapple. Backed up without unhooking the front hydraulics. I got lucky; lines were strong enough to bend the bracket 45 degrees, but hoses didn't break or leak. Only my pride hurt and a big wrench put on the bent bracket sort of got it back in place. Those of us with rv's and boats have the same issue. Why that final walk around is such a good idea.

off to church this morning to plant pansies and then do some food shopping on way home.

got my wax buffer in yesterday, waiting for a nice warm day to try it out.

all the daffodils have finally come up, later than neighbors, nice they bloom when forsythia is ending
