Good morning!!!!

good morning all
brrrrrrrrr
winter has arrived, 19 out now with high of 31
slept well last night, nice change and no cramps

the winds yesterday took their toll.
Granted my big inflatable was only marginally tied down to the fence
and had a few flower pots stuffed underneath for positioning.
Looked out late afternoon, gone, bare fence.
oh boy,where did it land.
quickly headed outside on the hunt, where did this 12 foot inflatable land?
luckily when I went around other side of fence, there it was, still running, amazed the plug
didn't come out, but it had ripped on the way over the fence and that was all she wrote.
Whole thing went into trash can. Oh well, two winters was a good run

Lexus dealer has texted me a video I don't know how to get off my phone.
So I'm driving to a new auto repair shop in Doylestown that focuses on Volvos and foreign cars.
Guy said he would be happy to help me, but he wanted to see the video.
Now I know he could just throw car up on lift and accomplish same thing, but I don't have an appt today.
my goal is to knock a thousand dollars off the 2500 dollar dealer quote to replace the trans shaft gasket.

when done there, headed to Popgadgets for the big test run. He made a new rv septic pipe wrench for me since
the original plastic one snapped in my hands, after which I smashed my knuckles into something and bled all over the place.
Not wanting to repeat that, thought a metal wrench would be great. Popgadget has made one out of carbon fiber too; he really has fun
with those machines of his, it's like what can I make next? Artistry in mechanics.

looks like a day for an undershirt and extra layers.
forecast looks dry and cold for next week.
have a good day everyone.

Good morning, the low is 8 and going up to 28°F. Wind S 11 gusting to 17 mph. Snow squalls.
Snowing lightly when I went to feed the cats. They get their dry food replenished when I get up in the A.M.

A dump/town run is in the cards for today, depending on how much snow we get.

Have a safe day all

Morning all!
Cold and windy here also! Sitting at 2 above.
Pellet stove is roaring away and I will be sitting next to it all day! Will only get up to keep it full.
Hope you heal and feel better quick NY. I had nasal surgery 4 or 5 years ago and it was the best thing ever to be able to breathe at night!
Grabbed a quick vid off of the cameras. Hope it works. Snow fell off of the steel roof and needed to be picked off the bulkhead.
That's all for now.

Lou, heal quickly, just think of what a movie star you'll look like now ;)

gives new meaning to breath deeply in the very cold air...no.

very pleased that AI solved another problem for me, my concern over a little thump in my car when
taking off. Very tiny feeling like slack is being taken up. And I found out it is. If I had said anything to the dealer,
thank goodness I didn't, they would have suggested replacing the entire assembly. Bet that yoke just needs a little cleaning and some
careful lube.
all this was free on Google. I wonder for how long...

2019 Lexus GX460 in starting out is it normal to have any play in drivetrain

Yes, a small amount of play or a slight "thump" or "bump" feeling in the drivetrain when starting out or decelerating to a stop is a known and generally considered normal characteristic of the Lexus GX 460, including the 2019 model. It is often related to the design of the rear driveshaft slip yoke.
Common Cause: Driveshaft Slip Yoke
The primary cause for this sensation in the GX460 platform is the movement within the rear driveshaft slip yoke. The slip yoke allows the driveshaft to adjust in length as the suspension moves. Over time, friction can cause it to bind slightly, then release with a noticeable "jerk" or "thump" as you start moving from a stop or come to a halt.
  • Not Dangerous: This condition is generally not considered a safety hazard or indicative of a major problem.
  • Common Across Years: It has been a common characteristic reported by owners and master technicians for many years of the GX model line, including the 2019 model.
  • Dealer Acknowledgment: Lexus even issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) for model years including 2016-2022 to address the "thump" or "bump" feeling by replacing the rear propeller shaft assembly in some cases.
and then the plot thickens...dug in further to TSB and sure enough it's the old fashioned grease zerks involved.
When I asked the dealer service rep about greasing the zerks, he asked me what was a zerk. So will definitely have them greased next time
it's on a lift. Cars don't have zerks any more but this old model still has two on that long driveshaft

so now I know what causes it and how to fix it. Or likely how to reduce it since it seems normal

Routine greasing of Zerk fittings on both front and rear shafts (using Molly grease for slip yokes) is crucial maintenance to prevent these issues.

Good morning tbn folks. Happy that I got a few things done yesterday while it was snowing on-n-off but not enough to worry about. Finally got my 6x6 blade and on tested it on the neighbor girls drive. Its just 2 pins and a lift hook BUT I MUST DO it or its not on. :) Got some adjustments made to the new baby sized atv and took it to the trails and test rolled with it. This atv weights about 1/2 the 6x6 does. Was a good day of little jobs.

30 and snowing...2 to 3" so far. Should only get up to 34 this afternoon, so should stick around.

Don, congrats on that sharp looking truck. Enjoy!

Mostly, pretty Christmas lights. It didn't really take 15 hours, did it?

Ron, I saw that moon rising between 2 mountains as we were coming off the trail. Beautiful.

Lou, hope you're feeling okay and heal up real soon.

Buppies, so happy that Precious is being such a good companion for Holly.

A small celebration last night as I reached my 2025 goal of hiking 800 miles yesterday...I beat my other goal last week...hiking a total of 100,000 feet of elevation gain. Della also set her longest one-day distance record yesterday. We'll play soccer or frisbee in the snow today.

So I'm driving to a new auto repair shop in Doylestown that focuses on Volvos and foreign cars.
If Ziggy's, then good. If Keystone Volvo, just run away!

I spent many years dealing with both, although I'd have trouble believing Ziggy is still alive today.

We loved our Volvos but had to stop buying them, because our local dealerships were that bad at everything. What a shame, they're great cars.
