Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #215,101
Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 11C and it's presently 22.7C, mostly clear with a steady breeze.

Lord, the wind howled yesterday. I lost power for around 3 hours in the arvo. Fortunately, I was able to obey the weather prediction and took the flagpole down for the event. It's back up now. I did manage to to give myself a haircut & beard trim during the outage as all of those 'implements' are battery powered.

However the Christmas tree/decorations didn't get put-up.

Today is definitely a wood-stacking day.

That's about it, take care all.

Well evening all;
Just started getting caught up on my reading now.
Out the door this morning at 10AM heading to hospital. Got there a few minutes early, got checked in and started waiting, after an hour or got moved to surgical prep then a couple of more hours of waiting, then got worked on.
copy and paste below;

"Patient was noted to have deviation of the septal cartilage and hypertrophy of the turbinates. This has been resistant to standard medical treatment. For this reason the patient is brought to the operating room for septoplasty and turbinate reduction.
Next, a hemitransfixion incision was made on the left. Dissection was carried down to the caudal edge of the septum. Mucoperichondrial flaps were then elevated bilaterally. Septum was noted to be deviated off to the right. Inferior portions of the quadrangular cartilage were then removed. Great care was taken to minimize manipulation of the bony septum and the superior aspects of the septum near the skull base. Any spurring of the maxillary crest was removed with the straight osteotome."

"Next we turned attention to the inferior turbinates. Starting on the left, the inferior turbinate was reduced in the submucosal plane in the standard fashion with the 2 mm inferior turbinate blade. Great care was taken to minimize trauma to the mucosa. The turbinate itself was then outfractured with the Goldman elevator. The right inferior turbinate was treated in similar fashion."

"At this point, the mucoperichondrial flaps were reapproximated in the midline and sutured with mattress sutures of 4-0 plain gut. The hemitransfixion incision was closed with interrupted sutures of 4-0 chromic. Doyle splints were placed and sutured with 2-0 silk."

I sure as hel* hope that the results are worth it, I have to go into the office in 7 days to have these splints removed, that may be interesting.
Reading through my discharge notes may not be doing much for a few days. Hope the weather behaves so I can :)

Hope all have had a good and safe safe and well tonight, and warm, heading to negative F here tonight.

Stay out of the cold air with those popsicle sticks in your nose Lou. I imagine that would cause pain.

TRUE! I forgot all about that, but I actually DID make an ashtray for my Dad when I was in grade school art class (ceramics).
Well evening all;

In plain English: What did they do ??

They went in and straightened and removed part of the septum (sp) deviation of the septal cartilage, then then are some glands/ growths (turbinates) in the floor of the nose, they went in and slit those and reduced the size by cutting out parts of them then pulled the skin back in over them. Kind of like a roto-rooter with a root saw. :)

Yikes! Boy that sounds like an "Ouch!" with a capital "O". I hope that the operation is successful for you, and that you have an uneventful recovery.

All the best, Peter
