Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 7:30AM. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 66F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph.
Picked up just shy of 3/4" of rain yesterday. More due in tonight, Saturday and the first few days of next week.

Was going to get a grocery run in yesterday, but this is as far as I got. The lower section of driveway is still too steep, and the ground too soft from the rain. I took another run at it with more of a head start, and made it maybe another twenty feet before the truck started going sideways. Some groceries would have been nice, but not nice enough to end up off the side of the hill. Came back in, got a fire going in the wood stove, and had lunch. Then worked on computers the rest of the day, getting things back to normal after the previous days power outages. I also found a replacement media server that doesn't rely on a network connection to work, and enjoyed a movie and a couple of newer Star Trek episodes.

Talked to the backhoe contractor, and he seems to think the rippers on the dozer can get through the rock. We'll see. If not, the explosive system isn't that expensive, and there are other areas where it could be put to good use.

Might try the driveway again today, but might just lay low, too. It's not like I'm going to starve.

TGIF gang! 🍻

Trip made into town to Akron Bearing, picked up 4 new bearings for the dump cart: just under $50 with The Governor's cut ... ($11 and change each) ... but they are sealed and hopefully of decent quality. That's roughly 1/3 of what the cart itself cost new (it was on sale IIRC)

Now that I have the number, I see that I could have sourced them from Amazon for $8.99 ... for a four pack ... with free Prime delivery. No idea on the quality though.

Checked the wheels before I left ... no grease fittings ... not entirely clear on how they expected the bearings to be greased ... maybe pull the wheels, remove bearings, and repack (a shielded bearing) by hand ?

Gonna go core while I contemplate all that.

good morning all
Sorry you are ailing Doug, that sounds uncomfortable

cooler day here but sunny and high about 70.
Need to make a quick run to supermarket and then home to plant the flowers I bought yesterday.
About half annuals and half perennials; unlike RS I don't have the brain/memory to keep them all straight.

LOL ... Drew ... I have to write them down ... no way I'd keep them straight if I didn't.

As i keep adding to the perennials, this should get easier each year.

(y)

Deer are a big problem; am waiting for my colorful pansies
to disappear. I might as well leave a bottle of Italian dressing out for them to enjoy them with too...

I got out the food grater yesterday and shaved up a bar of Irish Spring ... gonna try sprinkling that around the hosta and see if that at least keeps them from nipping off the buds when they've just come up.

Neck has really been bothering me, was up for hours last night, am wearing soft collar most of the time to help.
Nothing special, just falling apart.

Same here ... mostly my back and hips though ... but I do get these extraordinary pains in my neck from time to time ... thankfully fairly rare. But when it happens it feels like I could almost pass out from the pain.

My DE friends are driving to Washington State to see his elderly mother and have complained of the high winds costing them 3mpg driving.

Winds are howling here too ... so probably headed your way if not there already.

UPS just dropped the asparagus, strawberry, and blueberry plants ... which is a bit inconvenient to say the least.

64°F and .06 inches rain

Have my 1 week follow up for my cataract surgery this afternoon. I’m looking forward to it.

Hopefully my last day of light duty. While it has been a nice change there is a growing list of things that need my attention.

Need to pick up a ham for Easter dinner. Been invited to a friends for a small gathering. Volunteered the ham. Tend to associate turkey with Thanksgiving and Ham with Easter, but more often than not it seems we have both.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning to all! Low of 37°, going up to a high of 70°. Bountiful sunshine..... but.... very breezy. I got up about 06:00 and the trees were already moving a bit in a stiff breeze. Shouldn't get too gusty, but this wasn't even in the forecast.

Made a run into town again for a third pallet of mulch. We were calculating the sale price vs. the regular price last night (made my head hurt) ..... I was originally thinking it was only a 30% savings.... it's more like 46% savings. Being they only put it on sale once a year, we concluded to get more than we need now. Always good to be prepared. I bet we use it all up anyway.....

RNG, The song "slip sliding away" came to mind when I was reading your post.... are you going to get a gravel fix? ----- I've been getting those urges again in anticipation of a few gravel loads... o_O

Doug, how did you pull your bicep? Sounds painful. Hope it heals quickly.

Buppies, hope you are continuing to heal and maybe have a reprieve from all the slicing.

Drew, need some pics of your plantings.... I'm sure it's starting to look nice. Hope the deer find another buffet down the road....

Paul, nice of the management to let you know they're closing early, instead of letting you find out on your own.....

I have contemplating on what to get into today.... May just take it easy, but I don't want to misplace my motivation again.... it was too hard to find it last time.....

Everyone have a great day and start to the weekend!

Dusty too. I thought the welcome sign they got yesterday was nice
I really sympathize with that "falling apart" comment. It doesn't seem to get any better like it used to.

Ummm, would you believe lifting the 85" TV my wife bought out of the crate it came in.

I woke at 1.00 a.m. so got up and had a cuppa. Still up at 3.40 a.m. and not tired. Think it is the steroids I am taking at the present time. No more sleep tonight for me. Trying to be quiet or the dogs will want up too.
New security/screen door arrived so plan on seeing if I can handle fitting it today. Normally it would not be a problem but I am a little handicapped at the moment.
Step son and partner are arriving Sunday and he is going to fit 2 glass sliding doors, one in the back laundry and another in our lounge room. I don't see how he can do both in a day but he reckons he can. He is a qualified builder. Not sure he realizes just how much it involves being a steel frame home. I have all the materials here ready for him.
Hope you all have a Happy Easter. I am into Saturday already.

Thanks David.

Took the day off.

Went to town this morning for breakfast and Lowe’s to get paint and primer. OSB siding on shed is getting replaced someday, prepainting the pieces. 1 gal of $50 oil based primer only did 4 1/2 sheets of OSB, and it was like water. The paint is thick but used less than half can for same coverage. Going with gray to match the barn.
Shed is 25 yrs old, only had a coat of red barn paint on it, that was painted a year after it was built. (Built the shed while waiting on building permit for house, painted it after house was done). Used tractor forks as saw horse.

Need about 10 sheets replaced including the doors. I’m using OSB again because I have at least 10 sheets in my barn when it cost $7 a sheet. I saw a PT 6x6x16 was $100, ouch. Didn’t price plywood. Could not find an exterior door jamb, need to replace one on the barn. Might have to mill my own.

Nice day but breezy.

Wife said date night tonight, going to leave the boy at home and we are going somewhere.

She weeded flower beds all day. Need to take flag pole down to get the new halyard on the pulley. Dogwood starting to bloom.
