Nothing planned this morning, have a dermatologist appt this afternoon for a "scrape and burn". Not enthused about that...

might work on waxing the car a little this morning while it's warm out. Wax on wax off very hard on my wrists but I have always enjoyed
the smell of carnauba wax going on, and modern stuff (using Butter Wax this time) comes off very easily. I did the front and rear yesterday, realized it
would really help to get a set of mud flaps put on. I wonder about noise and fuel economy. I know roof racks are bad news for both, but I guess anything that disturbs
air flow is the proverbial "drag"...

while I was waxing the tailgate yesterday in the warm sun, I thought of how lucky I was to be here, safe, well fed, no one bombing my little town. Prayers for those
not so fortunate.

There are still overnight temps forecast below freezing...The snow tires stay on until consistent overnight temps are above freezing.

I can't imagine my little piece of paradise getting bombed.
IF I had to back a team in the Russia/Ukraine fight it would be Ukraine.

I've gotta go to North Bay at noon today, unfortunately.

Yesterday we had a mini-celebration...our first hummingbirds of the season.

I processed the wild turkey meat yesterday, and then cut some into thin strips...marinated with fajita seasonings, and we had delicious turkey fajitas for dinner.

Started smelling a bad smell, likely dead mouse, in the afternoon as it heated up. Borescope came in handy to go searching through part of the ductwork. Not pleasant.

Sometimes I'll use my handheld spotlight at night to shine up at snow. Last night, the pollen storm looked exactly like a blizzard reflecting in the spotlight. My wife couldn't believe it. I've been checking it each night, seeing it getting worse....and knew it would be bad after watching clouds of pollen explode off of the pine trees when big gusts were hitting yesterday. You just can't see how much is out there during the day, but the spotlight shows it. While outside, we heard the neighbor's alpacas really sounding off...a strange sound...Pop, is it mating season for them?

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 4:45AM. Rain. High 56F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall near a half an inch.
Only picked up 0.04" of rain from this storm so far, but the 10-day is calling for showers on and off through the period. I'll believe it when I see it.

Hope you find the smell before it gets much worse, Billy. And that the pollen storm abates soon, too. Sounds like you connected with a turkey somewhere along the line; is there a hunting story to tell there?

The boys hit a patch of rock near the top of the hill that is preventing them from digging deeper. They've managed to drop the steepest pitch from 20% to 16%, but getting rid of that spot was the reason for the dig to begin with. Might be time for that Sierra Blaster setup.

Got a response from the solar power company with a couple things to try, but had trouble duplicating the problem. Then the power cycling knocked out the satellite modem, and as usual, Hughesnet mysteriously fixed it overnight. God I hate that company.

A new coil for the VW showed up yesterday, but installing it didn't seem to make much difference. Another intermittent problem seems to have gone back into hiding.

I still have an active brook, the new rain will not make me happy.
I almost got stuck yesterday and took me a while to clean the mud off.
But got a lot of wood moved, berms started etc.

Drew - why not get a random orbit polisher with buffing pads to save your wrists?
RNG - Drill rock, fill with water when temp is going to go below freezing, it's how many roads were built if they could not use dynamite. Though I guess dynamite would be easier, any chance of getting a permit?

The little bird is knocking itself silly each morning, so no sleeping in.........

Good morning! 47˚F after the dry cold front changed the wind direction. The cool North wind is cherished after the last few days in the upper 80s. Good day to mow the yard and wash the car as temps will only reach the upper 70s.

In Texas there always seem to be one last sneaky freeze around Easter, I hope this above freezing cool front is it.

last week was the plant sale that supplies the money for the tractor. This year was the best year for sales on record. We made the WFPB breakfast burritos which were a hit for the member workers. Of course the radio control club did their thing and with drones made a YouTube of the sale. In the tube you can see the tractor mulch pile and my garden. The all green one (potatoes) next to the big tree on the far right at the beginning during the high aerial view.

Good Morning.
It’s 70 and might make it to 80 before this afternoon’s thunderstorms.

Yesterday was a perfect day outside, but I spent most of it inside getting some paint on speakers. Neighbor came over with his new drone, he bought it to carry his line and bait out into the surf. It’s got a hook and remote release control that works really well. We tested it by hanging 3 lbs of lead weight under it. He took it up about 100 feet and dropped it. The ground was soft enough that the weight sunk into the sod about 6”. Apparently, it can land on water and even right itself if was upside down in the water, and then take off. Today he wants to try it in our pond, should be interesting. It’s much more utilitarian than my DJI, but nowhere near as refined. I was impressed with its lift capability.

The sun and the warmth are helping to dry the ground up, but it’s got a ways to go yet. I’ve got a fair amount of fence repair to do, I’m debating getting a loader mounted hydraulic auger, as my 3pt is such a pia to mount and use. The manufacturer says that I have enough hydraulic flow in my third function to run it, and the down pressure would be nice. But they’re not cheap. I’m sure that I could hire someone to do the work for less for this job, but then I wouldn’t have the auger for future work.

If you hear alpacas making a racket, they are most likely alarming due to the presence of a predator or other threat. They are like us, they’ll breed whenever they get the chance.

Today will be back to the speakers. I want to get them done and shipped.

I love turkey, check. Easily my favorite meat. We're cooking one this Sunday as well.

44.6F and cloudy @ 10:00, rain has stopped. Looks like we got 0.28". High of around 60F expected for the day ... but we probably won't see it until around 17:00.

Front came though around 05:00 I think. Winds were gusty enough that it got The Big Orange Dude concerned enough that he hopped off the bed and sauntered off somewhere, looking for cover.

Got the seeds for the Yellow Crookneck and Zucchini Summer Squash, and Waltham Butternut, Buttercup, and Strawberry Crown Winter Squashes planted last night before I went to bed, also eight Cucumber. Only thing left to start indoors for the garden at this point is some green bell peppers. Beets and beans will get sown directly in the ground. Still have plenty of seeds left over at this point. Will be curious to see the germination rate. May go ahead and start more in a few weeks. Plastic pot inventory has been significantly reduced ...

Also got more plant labels made for the flowers. Still have a ways to go to finish that up though.

Today's indoor activities will include getting the green pepper seeds put into peat pots, then probably cut some sections of chicken wire that can be stapled over some plantings to keep the deer from pulling them up until they get rooted/big enough that they can't be easily pulled out.

Also plan to drill some tin cans for a deer detergent to keep them out of certain areas: ya run monofilament fishing line through the cans (at each end) and then set them on 5 gallon buckets. The deer knock the cans off the bucket which makes noise that apparently they don't like much. Be curious to see if we have the same success with it as the guy who posted the YouTube.

Once it warms up later, I'll make a trip up to screened compost pile with the Cub and dump cart and collect some more dirt to get The Woman's dahlia's planted.

Also have 9 Orienpet lily bulbs to plant, along with the mixed gladiolus + plus the bulbs from last fall that didn't get planted yet. Tomorrow might be a better day for that (warmer and drier)

David, sorry to hear Sophie is still having eye troubles. Definitely no competition between us.... don't need to escalate any more....

Drew, I second the motion to get an orbital buffer. One of the best tools I ever purchased in relation to "work saving". Makes the job even more pleasant and rewarding.

RNG, any plan for the big rock? Can you go around it? I am assuming they were able to improve the rest to your expectations? Sorry to hear that the coil didn't fix the problem.

Ken, ...... didn't your mother ever tell you 'don't play in the mud'..... glad you didn't get stuck. Cleaning mud off a tractor isn't fun!

Don, nice drone video. Good to hear it was a successful fundraiser.

We were debating wether to have ham or turkey for Easter..... ham won.
Not sure on the sides yet. White corn definitely, maybe some yams.

The pain isn't severe to me, but very uncomfortable...more like pressure in the chest, dull pain in my jaw and one or both upper arms

When my late wife and I married in 1975 we bought a condo, her idea not mine. We started hearing fluttering in the wall of the dining room, obviously a bird in there. I don’t know how he got in and apparently neither did he, because he couldn’t get out. Inevitably he died in there. You couldn’t use the dining room for about six weeks. We tried several times to get it out without tearing out a wall with no luck.

My wife was stopped this morning on her Whipper walk. One of the neighbors wanted to know the recipe for the WFPB Breakfast Burritos that were served at the plant-sale. They are starting to switch to WFPB and snuck a burrito off the WFPB table. (We knew this would happen and made extra.) It's really nice to see so many people coming to the same conclusion as we did many years ago. The secret to the robust flavor of the burritos was the pepperoni spice in the Reb Pepper Hummus that held everything together.

Our next big presentation is the May BBQ. Of course the caterer cannot cook WFPB so for our sub-group they are bringing big baked potatoes which we will make the JackFruit topping (BBQ-pulled pork flavored). Of course we will also have to make extra because it is really catching on.

Another day of reduced physical activity even though I feel I should be doing more. Tempered by Sophie’s condition, knowing that she followed her post op instructions to the max. Can’t take a chance both end up with eye problems. I did drive yesterday for 1st time post op. Better without my glasses than with. Good thing as Sophie wasn’t able to drive after her steroid injection. Can’t imagine how frustrated she must be, yet maintains such a good attitude.

Good evening all. 73ºF for the start, overcast, breezy, no rain in gauge. Thunderstorms developed east and south of here, with some severe, news had pic of hail stone bigger than a hand! Men's meeting to start day, puttered rest of day. thought we might got to town for shopping, but wife put that of to tomorrow. Mowing not finished yet so that is still on agenda. Did get nap in.
Helpgabals I think the best thing you and your wife can do is be there for her. Decisions made during very emotional time are rarely good. Give her space and prayer.

Had a check come in a couple months back for $.16. Accidently over paid on the final internet bill at our old house. Check floated around the kitchen for a month or so till I had another check come in from another company we weren't doing business with any more as well. Then I finally got around to cashing that whopper
