Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:30AM. Partly cloudy. High around 70F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday was overcast until the sun broke through for a nice sunset, and the forecasted rain never materialized. The gauge picked up 0.03' overnight, not even enough to settle the dust.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet, RS. Are you going to weld the plugs back into the holes you cut?

We finished up the south property boundary, not making it all the way to the corner because of the steepness of the ravine there, but at least now I see the marker stake from the one closest to it. Shifted our attention to the section north of the driveway, all very steep and choked with dead oaks and manzanita. Some of the manzanita were over twenty feet high, with trunks more than a foot in diameter. Again, Les was knocking it over and pushing it up with the dozer to where I could reach it with the tractor, which then got moved across the driveway to a new pile. Manzanita and short branches on the one end, whole trees on the other. We put a dent in it, but I can see several more days of work still ahead. Then more on the driveway. We'll be starting at nine o'clock this morning; yesterday we got another eight hours in. That's a lot of bouncing around seat time.

At one point I started noticing a dark trace under the tractor, and when I looked hydraulic fluid was coming from the six port manifold for the FEL. Ran up to the garage and found a loose fitting, easily tightened. Checked the fluid level and it looked fine, but the tractor was acting like it was low or there was air in the system. The fluid is water clear, and hard to see on the dipstick. Les said he painted his dipstick, so I did the same with this one (Kubota orange) and we'll see what it tells me this morning.

When I finished up the south boundary, I grabbed the last pile of wood with the grapple and dropped it next to the fire ring. Les and I enjoyed a beer after work warming by it as the sun set. You can see the brush piles from the southern boundary just above the generator. There are two of them, Ted, each about the size of a big yellow school bus. When we started the work on the north side yesterday, I grapped the GPS and located the survey stakes on that side, going through a lot of poison oak in the process. That crapped up my clothes and gloves, so no photos yet. But everything went into the washer last night and should be clean this morning, so I'll try to remember to snap a few better pictures today. Should be a prettier day than yesterday's overcast.

Good morning to all! Low was 29°, going up to mid 60's. Overcast now, supposed to get windy this afternoon and a chance of showers overnight.

RNG, nice view from the fire pit area. Zooming in, those are some big brush piles. Are you going to cut up and split? .... if so, you're not going to run out of work too soon..... It look like the reservoir still has a long way to get to the "full" mark.

I just heard a drought watch report for our area.... doesn't look good. Even with all the snow that was reported, it was only in a few select areas, making the general snowpack well below normal again.

I'm not sure what, if anything, I'll get into today. I might sweep out the garden shed and organize the hand tools, shovels, and rakes. I might hang them up instead of just leaning them against the walls (seems they always fall over). Wouldn't be a hard job, just more time consuming.
But, spreading the rest of the gravel in the walkway is higher on the priority list. Especially if we're going to get some showers.... they would help packing it down. Decisions, decisions......

We only have 2 bags of pellets left. Haven't been using the stove as much as the middle of winter, but we're still gonna have a few cold nights. I'll have to pick up 6 bags this week. I thought for sure we were going to have enough.

Everyone have a great day!

64°F and .54 inches rain.

Spent too much time putzing with the old Apple TV, 3rd generation. Old enough that not everything is supported any longer.
Canada Dave had a nice chuck of TriTip we grilled on the Primo. Excellent. Then we beat the gals again at H&F. They led until the end.

Invitation to BIL’s girl friends house for early dinner. In more than 10 years of dating this is our 1st invite.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon! 50 now and sunny. May get a bit warmer. Rain/drizzle seems to be past us.

not sure what I am gonna get into today. We already went shopping. Shelves are better stocked than they have been.

Adopting the new cat is going slowly. She is not getting along with the other 2, seems to have an issue with me, but adores my wife. But then she always gets along with new critters easily.

Everyone is staying busy. Keeps you out of trouble!

Everyone stay safe out there!

David, I bet that woke you up..... some strong coffee.... made you start to shake! 😲

OK, first project for the day taken care of.... a couple back drags with the tractor and the pile of gravel will be gone. Put 3 bucket loads over the fence and raked it out.... a lot easier than shoveling!

Taking a quick coffee break, then onto sweeping out the garden shed and hanging some garden tools. Should be far less labor intensive.

Church this morning, then some small stuff in the house. I’m headed out to the shop to unload the tools from my loader bucket that we’re used in straightening up the apple tree.
I went to my grandson’s ballgame yesterday, I got a sunburn in just a few minutes out there and had to get in the shade, came home and developed blisters on my cheek, they went away and now my cheekbone area is swollen. I’m blaming my meds for making me sensitive to the sun, but I’m taking the same ones I have for a couple of years,
At least my grandson pitched a good game and drove in a couple of runs.

I got a little sun on the neck yesterday.

First time the new cat has layed on me. Snagglepuss was on me earlier, and he jumped up a couple times to sniff her. This time I had pie and ice cream, and he kept jumping on me, finally he just layed down on my lap.

Don, this may be my week for veggie sandwiches. I was thinking of the Cobb Blue salad but wonder if it's enough protein. For lunch with a roll, probably.

just been goofing off. Feels good.

Car nav lost its brain on way home from church outside of Newtown on Eagle Road. It rebooted but I'm going to keep an eye on it. Or not...
Car is going back in to dealership for a "we owe", wheel rash repair on one wheel.
And now I feel a slight shudder in the front brakes. They put new rear pads on but I don't see anything done to front brakes in 38k miles.
Feels like the rotor is slightly warped. Lot of different opinions on right way to do brakes. Is truing on a lathe ok or are all new rotors needed?
Wonder what new rotors and pads would be for front pair. I'm going to mention to them and see what kind of solution they offer.
I do not need slotted and drilled rotors and a Brembo badge. But a rotor that resisted rust would sure be nice.

Yes, all the vegetables, especially the edamame contains protein.

Depends on how worn (and warped) they are.

All rotors (and brake drums) have a minimum beyond which they are to be discarded.

The dealership should measure them with a micrometer and make the determination whether they can be machined before doing so.

Nowadays new rotors are the way to go, often cheaper than turning old ones.

One of our favorite restaurants has an edamame appetizer with an incredible sauce. Might be having some this coming Tue.

The last few times that I have had a brake pedal shudder their have been two causes and neither were the rotors being "warped".
One was new pads on a used rotor, the rotors had a ridge on the outer edge, turned that ridge off and everything was fine,
true shade tree rotor turning, I used my 4 1/2" grinder and just ground of the ridge not touching the main part of the rotor.
edited to add; the ridge was from rusting

The rest have required new rotors but they were not warped, the surface of the rotors had developed almost a fish scale appearance on a couple of spots were the pads had stuck to the rotors. They even felt similar to fish scales run your fingers one way and smooth, run your fingers the other way and and lose some skin and get metal slivers.
The pads had rusted or seized lightly to the rotors and actually pulled slivers loose.

If a mechanic says only one thing can cause that, go find a new mechanic.

I was able to complete cleaning/ sweeping out the dirt and leaves from the garden shed. I was surprised at the amount in there. All blown in before I got the doors and siding redone last fall.

Sweeped and scraped up 4 five gallon buckets. Everything is sealed now, so I expect just light dust from this point. All outdoor tools, chainsaws, and trimmers safely stored in their own spots. The garden tractor too!

BUT----- after getting everything in there and closed up.... I realized that the tiller was supposed to go in first, behind the GT!

Tomorrow is another day......
Time to relax for the evening......knee hurting, back is complaining, neck and shoulders are sore / stiff. I found all the muscles that I didn't use over the winter.....
