We are flooded in. Local village submerged just like the 2011 floods. Some lives lost in flood. No power. Up at 2.30 in a break in the rain to drag generator out and set up so we can have the fridges/freezers going. I took a sim card out of my trail cam and put it in a dongle so we could get internet and news. Practically all roads in our region are closed due to flooding.
Might have to drain the ZT mower to get petrol the way it's going. Only had about 4 litres in a container but it will go for a few hours. Doubt I will be on for a few days. Too much happening. Pouring down again now. Lucky to get that break.
That sounds pretty rough. Hope it gets better. Get that Mustang up on highest ground.

The interaction between the Gulf of Alaska vortex and the subtropical jet stream returns the threat for major cold and stormy weather to North America by March March 7. I realize that many of you are probably sick and tired of reading about that gyre setting up below the Farthest North State. But as a function of a La Nina episode, the sprawling vortex is often recurrent and one of the dominant factors in altering sensible and apparent weather in Canada and the U.S. during the winter months. Forecast rules for the GOAV are easy to remember. If the cold 500MB circulation is stable or stationary, then the lower 48 states and southern Canada will come under a mild, largely inactive, semizonal flow. But should the monster vortex be progressive, and shift to points like the Lake Of The Woods or James Bay, there will be breakout surges of Arctic air that sometimes reach down to Mexico. The saving grace for parts of Dixie and the Eastern Seaboard is that there will often be a Southeast (heat) ridge be present, which keeps the cAk regime from getting to the Interstate 10 corridor. This is exactly the pattern I describe for the first week and a half of March. The chill seen now in much of the continent may alleviate in the 6-10 day range (though I doubt that the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Northeast catch much of a break from the freezing weather). But that big storm in the northeastern Pacific Ocean will be on the move, with snow and cold over the Intermountain Region. Forming what I think will be a Colorado/Trinidad "B" path scenario (eastward to Virginia and then off of the New England coast). the floodgates to bitter cold and a late season snow event will push through the Great Plains and Midwest into the Northeast before the middle of March. Then, with any luck, the subtropical high in Florida will expand, and slowly force out the tundra air mass. Have a nice weekend, everyone!
How about this toppop and he has been spot on all winter

I am impressed by the depth of your research, who could possibly argue with that?

Ric Edelman does a weekly radio show as well, which our local CBS Radio affiliate KMOX carries on Saturday mornings.
I've listened to him for years on our local AM talk station...often has good current advice...I turned it on over the weekend while I was sharpening a chain, and heard Soledad O'Brien hosting the show...at least I think it was his show, and she was talking to a rep from his company.

My brother is having to abandon everything in Kiev and make a run for Bulgaria. He owns a unit at Sunny Beach there. He has to pass through Odessa which has already been attacked. He said we won't hear from him for at least a few days. I just hope I do get to hear from him again. :(

I remember back in mid 80's going to Lee MA. to hear a 90 minute pitch, all to get free weekend vacation. Super hard sell, wouldn't let us leave until we signed a sale, asked for free vaca voucher, but they said fine print said we had to listen to entire pitch, well beyond the 90 minutes. Walked out, warning everyone waiting in line. As was everyone else coming out. Never again...

I went to a free weekend in a huge brand new beach house in the northern Outer Banks (Corolla). Rolled in Friday night to beautiful house with a bottle of wine on the table and some chocolates. Played Saturday, and when it was time for the pitch at 11 on Sunday morning I was well on my way home. That was about 1990, they learned pretty quickly, do the sales pitch first.

Prayers for your brother and family. Try and stay positive that he will make it out.

I sure wish the world powers would get a little more serious on this and it comes to a quick peaceful end.

Yea, he's a slick salesman. It's important to review several companies before you choose. You must feel comfortable with your choice. Of the 3 I spoke to, two warned me of him, one liked him...

Yea, be comfortable with your choice. I can easily understand another agent dissing him, he doesn’t speak highly of everyone either, especially commissioned based. As I recall, we had numerous face to face meetings at the office as we developed a plan, never any pressure and always choices. Even after that it was several weeks before any commitment or money exchanged.

There are a number of popular choices out there, Dave Ramsey, Suzie Orman just to name 2 and while I have read both I wouldn’t follow either 100% just as I’ve differed with Edelman.
