40 and not going any higher, then rain.

At least yesterday was a sunny 70 and got many of the daffodils blooming.

Spent a few hours walking the blade trimmer around and clearing my hazelnut grove and a few other areas of saplings and vines that are so persistent...I hadn't cleared one area in 3 years and it is amazing how big the sweetgums can get.

Still have some outside chores to complete that I hope to do before the rain comes.

Eric, your woodpeckers have some tough beaks. Wonder what the kgf/cm2 would be.

Kyle, better eat your spinach before you straighten the other rod.

Morning all, 30 and grey, calling for mystery weather tonight into tomorrow.
Russia invaded Ukraine, half of my family is from there......

My soon to be 68 yo wife had cataract surgery with corrective lens implants. Now 20-20 vision and no glasses after wearing them over 60 years!
Medicare paid for just cataracts, not implants but well worth the few $K.
She says colors are now vivid!
Which lens did she opt for?

Was the procedure Laser Assist?

Thinking back on the failed boot soles, it may have been due to the soaking they took last summer while exploring the bottom of Lake Oroville

I had wondered if you had explored down there. Did you find anything interesting?

good trip to new dermatologist, she was great. Pleasant, thorough and what I hoped for.
She froze my head, biopsied something on my back and otherwise said I was good to go for another six months.
And the parts on my ears I was worried about, she said looked ok.

had to drive through my lawn to get back in house, cable contractors putting down new high speed Verizon Fios put their big reel of cable at end of my driveway.
Comcast just raised their speed for no additional cost, though their claims and SpeedTest don't agree. But still plenty fast.
I do not need one terabyte of download speed. But Verizon really dukes it out with Comcast here, would be nice if that resulted in lower than 150 bucks a month for cable and phone.
And I don't buy anything extra either.

should be a quiet day with yukky weather coming in.

Good morning to all! Low was 12° and guess what? ...... yep, 4" + of snow! Some 'dusting'. We must have the same weather guessers as LFN.....

All the snow must have dumped in the wee hours, it's sunny now, just a few broken up clouds, but the wind has kicked up and is blowing the powder light snow around. Maybe it will clear the driveway for me? There's always hope...

No issues with the pellet stove overnight. Purring nicely. I still have my eyebrows....😬

Mostly, no, definitely not you that needs to be silenced, nor anyone else here on the forums. It's basically a couple of nasty belligerent neighbors that create their own issues.🤬

Kyle, nice job on the straightening of the rod, hopefully the next one cooperates without too much effort! (y)

RS, I have the same Crossman, but don't use it too often. My 'go to' for rodent control is a Beeman RS2 series. Single pump, break barrel. It comes with two barrels, .177 cal and a .22 cal. Pellet. It's up to 1000fps using .177.image.jpg
Also came with a nice soft storage case and the scope. I am very happy with the accuracy. The .22 cal takes out the critters with one shot, sometimes the .177 requires a follow up....

Today will be an inside piddling around day. I think that we may polish up the furniture today, it's due for sure. The humidity is so low, the wood absorbs any wax almost instantly. The oak floors are due for another waxing, but that might be a bit too much to tackle today.

I picked up a couple of prime ribeyes and a small bag of 'baby dutch golden' potatoes. They are on the menu for dinner tonight along with the last 2 corn on the cob that were frozen last season. I think the wifey is also going to do an asian stir fry. Should make for good eatin'🤤

Everyone have a great day!

Eric Salop said, "Some may remember me capping straining posts a while ago with aluminium sheet. I thought it would keep the rain out - and it certainly did for a while - now some very determined woodpeckers are having other ideas."

RedNeckGeek said, "Who knows what goes on in the minds of woodpeckers, Eric. Maybe all that hammering has left their brains a bit scrambled? If you decide to replace the aluminum, maybe a coat of paint would prevent them from seeing their reflection, and they'd leave it alone. Or maybe they like the sound it makes when pecked, in which case you're still screwed?"

Just a very few years ago, and for two summers, I'd sometime hear the darndest noise outside and finally discovered it was a woodpecker hammering away at the metal rain gutter around the eaves of this house. Apparently it never did any damage and I have no idea why he was doing that unless he just liked the sound.

Lots of mud, and one of the hikers found a few flecks of gold in his pan.
