49°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 61° today. The bottom falls out on us again tomorrow, though.

No new drips from the toilet connector when I checked last night. I like the easy fixes.

I feel your pain, Drew. While I've never really liked the car buying experience, this last one was undoubtedly the worst. Dealer and salesman just flat out lied to us, and even admitted that the price they advertised it (which reflected every available discount) was not possible, after I pointed out to them that at least two of the possible discounts could never be used together. I ended up paying $2k more than the advertised price. I'd buy all used cars for the rest of my life before I'd ever go back to that place.

62°F and 0 inches rain

Unplanned trip to Primary Care yesterday as Sophie tried to get a dermatologist referral. Interestingly, most seem not to take insurance. Will have to see what they come up with.

H&F to be hosted this afternoon at John and and Diane’s new house. Furniture not delivered yet

Pretty certain the wire shelves & closet storage get attention today as well as trip to PO.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning to all! Low of 28°, going up to 52°. It will be nice for only a short time, temps dropping off into the 30's, possible rain this evening, turning to snow overnight. High temp tomorrow will be 35°...... we'll see.....

Drew, I had stopped at a couple dealers last week, just to see what they had and current sticker price. The Ford dealer was honest and only had the "local market adjustment" of $1400 on the sticker (I have successfully had that removed in previous sales). Other than that, regular MSRP pricing....

The Chevy dealer however, was really pushing the prices.... They had the "market adjustment" nearly doubled to $2500. Then had the gonads to add "supply chain shortage fee"..... that was $5,000 on trucks, $7500 on the loaded SUV's !! Absolutely ridiculous! Wouldn't barter off on the price at all. The sales guy said "well, somebody will pay it" ------ not gonna be me! I left. I'll be shopping seriously in the next year or two.... I have patience.

I haven't even thought about looking at slightly used.... not after the offers I have received for my 2019 Nissan Frontier..... almost $5K more than what I paid for it. Used prices have to reflect the increased prices.....

Oh, I also stopped at a big Toyota dealership..... they actually didn't have one new vehicle on the lot... only used, and only about 30-35 vehicles. The sales guy there said 3/4 of the sales team were laid off. The few sales people left are hurting.....

When all this BS is over with, I wonder if there will be an excess of new stock and great deals will be had.... only some time will tell....

Did the grocery shopping early this morning, no shortages on what we needed. Did see some things that were low or no stock.

Not sure if I will get into the 'storage hassock' project, but the wifey was hinting about it last evening. I guess I better keep her happy......

Everyone have a great day!

PJ, had a similar experience buying my sons Hyundai. They sent me a price, I went in to buy, they increased cost several thousand. I got angry, loud and left.
Their excuse was I didn’t qualify for all the discounts. My response was I asked for an out the door cost, and you gave me a cost on that basis. Her response, you didn’t read the fine print. I let the whole dealership know what I thought of their deceptive practices. Embarrassed my son to no end, but I don’t play those games.
Ended up getting same car for less than our “negotiated” cost at another dealer. One advantage of living in an area with lots of dealers.

just when I thought some civility had returned to dealerships, the dealerships perhaps out of desperation are doing all the old consumer unfriendly practices.
Maybe they never left. I've said this before, the only dealership that treated me transparently and without hidden charges was Subaru. They seem to beat to a different drummer.

my one experiment with the new snow push shovel was an instant failure. It has no runners so immediately bit down deep into gravel. Exactly what I didn't want. I suppose I could jury rig some runners but decided to give it to caretaker at church, since it will work really well on paved sidewalks.

ran my errands, dropped off taxes at accountant's, went to Post Office and now done.

I worked for Subaru as a consultant. I like their culture and they were really connected to their US and Canada dealerships (was in NA HQ). They were very active in making sure the dealers did not mess around.

The worst I found at the time was any dealer that tried to pull the quadrant and monthly payments trick.
Nissan dealer I went to saw me have some fun with them before I walked out.
When I did the math the monthly price they gave me was not close to the total price .....

39F windy high thin clouds morning temp was -1F.

We got the log skidder almost done today except for little minor things...decals,LED light bar,new swivel seat, extending heavy duty push bar on top of blade...yep a good day. (y)

No plans this evening other than numbing it.

Enjoy your day all.

I had a good experience buying my Subaru.

Saw where some RV dealers were playing creative financing games, where number of payments X payment amount left a huge balloon payment due that was not disclosed.

One of the local Ram / Dodge dealers does that here. They advertise such as "Up to $15000 off MSRP".... then when you get there: "oh, your not an educator--- then you can't get the $1500 rebate" .... "oh, your not a gov't employee---- you can't get that $2,000 rebate" .... they go down the list that you're not qualified for. Then say "we got you the $500 rebate though".
They just want to get you in the door. Most people succumb to the ploy after they see the new vehicle and then have to have it.

I have walked out of many stealerships......

Far be it from me to try to stand up for car salespersons, but with new car production severely restricted, I can't really blame the dealers for trying to cover their fixed costs by jacking up the price on whatever is on the lot. Same for commissions: Fewer sales, higher commissions, just to keep bread on the table and the mortgage paid.

That said, I hope I never find myself in a position where I'm forced to buy another four wheeled vehicle. There's nothing out there I want, and as long as I can keep fixing what I have, there's really no incentive to "upgrade".

Now where's that old two cents emoji when you need it?
😯

I wish that I could say I wouldn't be in the market for a new truck in a couple of years.
Living in the "great" northeast were they have to pander to the lowest common denominator and have a bare road
policy in the winter so much salt and calcium is used that vehicle frames and bodies don't survive for long.
And talk about fun trying to unbolt a lower frame component after about 3 years will be an experience in futility.
Unless one plans well in advance and gets one of the available under carriage treatments and keeps up with re-applications.

Got my alligator kits today now to find an out of the way place to store.

Wire closet shelves working out as hoped.

just keeps getting nicer and nicer David.

Lou I honestly haven't kept a truck long enough in the past to experience rust, but this Ram is a rotter.
It's been patched up a number of times but still looks nice, and you know how nice they drive.
But I really don't want to get another layer of salt applied to the bottom unless I drive through the car wash going home with the undercarriage wash.
I asked body shop guy about rust, and he said they all rust, regardless of brand.

I never paid much attention to rust guarantees, and often they require perforation to initiate a fix, but my 2014 truck has had at least two quarter panels redone.
In less than 8 years. Used in NJ all its life with lots of salt.

We got some rain today and snow coming overnight. So they say.

The ONLY new car I've had in my life was actually leased.
Would I do that again? Not likely.
The 2013 Dodge Journey is serving me as good as can be expected, me being the third owner.
The '01 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) has a rotten frame and the body isn't all that good either. Welders up here wont touch frame work. So I am in the market for another Jeep with a bad drivetrain. Mine is good including the 4 Litre motor.
I think I know where one is, but will wait until this summer when I get back up to Thunder Bay to check it out.

@Buppies I had to look that car up.

Nice car but no matter how much money I had would I ever pay that much for a single car.

Nothing against anyone who does though. If it's their money, they can spend it like they want.

Told my wife about the abrupt change in hydraulic oil delivery at work. She manages a store for a major equipment rental company. She has a bulk tank for the hydraulic oil. She is now restricted to 2 - 5 gallon buckets/month. She is 1 blown hose away from being out of hydraulic oil
Darn, another thing to stock up on.
If we thought not being able to get T6 was bad wait until all the delivery vehicles start breaking down because of no hydraulic fluid.

Continental GT off lease CPO best way to buy generally low miles, I do not own one but can dream. Reasonable to repair if you use VW who can do all work at reasonable prices warranted work as well. We own some pretty nice cars although some age now I for one never say never first thing I end up doing

Well, my computer audio success was short lived. Had it working, hooked up hdmi cable, now it says no audio device again. Doesn’t matter what I do, nothing.
