Did pu some nice looking Porterhouse steaks yesterday I will season this morning and hit the Primo this afternoon.

Sure miss Ron’s banter and pics in the morning. Wonder how significant a topic like GM is fiscally. No idea how that works.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

This morning Texas hit the peak demand of 68,881 MW at 8:40 A.M. the grid had 83,000 MW of supply, meaning Texas had a 14,119 MW margin of safety.

This cold snap doesn’t compare to last year’s, though, both with temperatures, the length of the storm and demand. During last year’s freeze, peak demand was 74,000 MW.

Temp now is 30˚F with mostly sunny skies the ice is melting fast. The roads are already clear. With temps rising above freezing this afternoon today will be last day of the ice around here.

10°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 27° today. The winds are much more manageable today at only 6mph, so the power seems to be staying on (probably just jinxed myself there).

The clasp on the barn door is still frozen shut. Hoping the sunlight today will melt that. If not, I'll have to get after it with the heat gun this afternoon. Need to get the tractor out today to clear the drifts across the driveway.

Talked to my boss this morning to tell him what we have going on here, and that I still can't get out of my driveway. He told me the highways over in the city and STL County are terrible, and that I should just stay home anyway and come back Monday morning. Sometimes, he's a good guy.

Wife told the stepson this morning that she wants him to help me clean the upper part of the driveway and the concrete pad in front of the garage. I told him I was going to wait until it warmed up a bit. He put his gear on, went out, and did it by himself. Sometimes that boy surprises me. I know there was an ulterior motive, but the fact that he did that level of manual labor without being bribed is a rare feat. Not going to complain at all.

I've seen some of Paul's videos on YouTube. Good stuff.

24°f now not much wind, rained from suppertime last night until early this morning when it changed to freezing rain and then sleet. It's changing back and forth from sleet to a mix now maybe an inch so far, supposedly will be over early this evening. there's about 1/4" of ice under it all which will make clean up a joy lol. Gathered up all the tax stuff this morning may play with that later or not! I think a movie and a beer or two this afternoon, clean up tomorrow most likely.

Everyone stay safe and enjoy

PJS - I can't get my son to do that kind of labor, nice to hear.
Be careful with the ice.

I also found the PA list of Native species for planting supported by PA DOC.

So I will start looking at this list to start my screen and replant.
We have lost so many Ash on my property, it is looking very sparse and can see through to neighboring properties.
I want to replace some of these, so time for research and of course some of the GM team is providing some much needed help, which is greatly appreciated!

Our temperature, at the south edge of Denton, TX, just hit 32 sunny degrees, just after 1:30 p.m., and I just went out and poured about .55" of water out of my rain gauge that had shown to be just under 4" of snow.

Good morning to all! (Well, now afternoon). Low was -1°, now up to 32°, shooting for a high of 34°.

I had to make a run into town this morning, tried taking the car.... no go.... went about 6 feet before it was stuck. Took the truck instead, no problem with 4WD. Once I made it out to the main road, it was clear sailing.

So, after getting home, got the tractor out and cleared the parking area and the main driveway. It was nice to get some seat time.

It wasn't brutally cold, but my hands and feet both got cold to the point of starting to hurt. Got finished and now warming the footsies by the pellet stove.

No more precipitation forecast for the next 7 days (always subject to change within 24 hours) so we'll be good for a few days.....

1.4” of rain. Looks like it’s about done here. Temps keep dropping, 36° now. Will get icy tonight, think I’ll bug out a little early.

Got in from my second round of snow work. Didn't measure any depths, but there was enough new accumulation to give the snow blowers a workout...probably need to get another 5 gallons of diesel tomorrow.
Still snowing, by the way...I'm not expecting any appreciable accumulation though.
Reckon I'm done for the day...

I haven't even started the tractor, chipped the frozen mix off the garage doors so I could open them looked around and walked back inside.
My wife worked from home today so neither of us had to go out and it's still snowing and blowing around. Looks like we have only gotten 3" on top of the frozen mess.

20F still snow couple more inches we'll hit 15" mark...storm ending 8-9 pm.,hard to shovel.

Darn glad I decided to do rough plowing with the pickup but the only problem once the plow snow settle like cement   Kubota push tall snow banks like hot knife thru butter and now that whole lot of extra room ready for Buppies prediction.

Going to quite evening hot meal have hankering for beans hotdogs with brown bread than feet up.

Enjoy your evening all.

Looks like we got mostly powder...fairly easy to shovel or blow...downside, of course, is the reduced visibility when blowing snow...and, yes, it's still snowing...finally appears to be tapering off

Got snow and ice somewhat cleared today. Mainly I took the snow off the top of the ice. The bottom layer is hard and has a very rough surface to it, so traction is good. The 4” - 5” of powder on top is moved. The sidewalk to the garage is clear. The several Light salt treatments during the worst of the ice storm had that loose and was able to clear the walk with the snow blower and shovel.

Thought I was having trouble with the freshly rebuilt ground drive of the snow blower. Finally figured out the shudder I was getting when engaging the drive was the tires spinning. 😲

Not too bad on the rod journal, considering the old oil was a cross between La brea tar pit mixed with a thick chocolate fudge shake.

It had a bunch of blow by during a leak down test, out the dipstick tube at TDC. This K301 model has a decompression system that doesn't allow standard compression checking. The top ring has about a .020" ring end gap, but the middle ring has about .040" ring end gap. New REG should be about .010/.020" Not sure about ring side clearance yet.

I haven't measured the piston yet, and it shows some wear on the 6 o'clock 12 o'clock sides, so it is suspect too.

Have you come up with a solution for the generator adapter?
Once you have the crank out, it would be fairly easy to face the flywheel end of the crank, and drill ant tap it for a bolt to retain the flywheel if you have access to a lathe.

32°

Gas prices shot up again.

Going to post early tonight.
Next state is Delaware. When I was in college, one of my friends family invited me to go with them on vacation to rehoboth beach. On the way, I remember arriving in Frederick md and missing the turn to I270, so I quickly looked at the map and said, just take the next exit, you can cut across and catch it. I never dreamed I would end up living here, and ironically tonight I drove that same route, only to go to Lowe’s. Amazing the foreshadowing that happens in life.

At night we would play beach volleyball.
We also met some girls, and I kept in touch with one of them. When I moved to MD a couple yrs later, I contacted her. She lived near Wilmington DE, but her family owned some rental cabins at Rehoboth. I visited her a few times, until I met someone who would become my wife, and that was that.
