.

Don’t know, probably some busy work. I’m staying home doing some retirement planning tomorrow.

I try to do 10 miles per night on the bike, which isn’t even close to catching you.

Fast moving snow. 2” so far.

Spent evening looking at land online, mostly overpriced junk. Only a couple, from PA to TN looked half way interesting. Most realtors do a terrible job with listings. 1 or 2 cruddy pictures and lame write ups, or 20 pictures of the same broken gate in front.
One I liked, but over 200k. Then I see they have another 80 acre listed for $550k using same 2 pictures. So which one is in the picture? Doesn’t matter, can’t afford it.
Might call tomorrow about one to find out what engineered septic means.
Then look at listing history, some been on market long time, with price drops, then taken off market for couple months, then relisted wanting more than they couldn’t sell for before. And most are crap.

Too bad the one I really like is in wrong county.

Buppies, glad you got home ok.

23° this morning...high in the upper 20's today...
Stepdaughter will be caring for wifey today. Wife is getting around reasonable well, using a wheel chair.
As previously posted, I've got some work related concerns that can't be handled remotely

good morning all
very pretty out, snow coming down with little wind, 2 inches so far, maybe another inch to come.
For once they got the forecast right.

So I'll be clearing the driveway this morning, no plans to drive anywhere.

got the second landscaper bid in on walkway grading at church, both very close to each other and reasonable.
Job will likely go to my own landscaper, one of the bidders, since he came in lower with a different solution to
burying a downspout pipe, using the pop up drains like I had all around my house in NC. They work great but are prone
to clogging without routine cleanouts.

When I moved to NC the shipper didn't bring a big enough trailer for my second tractor, the first one I owned, and I decided to donate
it back to the church. Where I now find out it sat unloved under open sheds for the last 7 years, wouldn't start and was finally sold for 800 dollars.
The tractor was perfect when I left it, with a new Landpride mower. I was away and no one thought to call me.
If running we could easily have gotten five or six thousand for a clean used tractor. An expensive lesson for me, sure know now I can't trust the caretaker
to take care of nice machinery. Nice looking tractor too....

I wonder who has it now...

Popgadget, this was the tractor you offered to come help me with, when I thought it was still there. If we had drained the fuel and changed filters, I bet it would have run
just fine.

Good morning, low temp is -3 and high for the day should be 5 above zero. Wind N 8 mph. 30% chance of flurries.

daugen, I have found through the school of hard knocks that IF people get something for free, they tend to not look after it. If they have some money invested in the same free object they will look after it better. Most likely the guy at the church was afraid of the tractor, therefore he left it sit outside and basically ignored it.

I checked out prices on the funeral home website we will be using and they are pretty reasonable, haulage to North Bay (40 miles) cremation and urn all in about $1500.oo.
It cost me $4,000.oo to do the same thing with my Dad and it was all done in Brampton, ON (all facilities right there).

Monday the three of us go to the hospital in North Bay so she can get a P.I.C. line installed.
Enough of that morbid subject.

The inch of snow that came yesterday after I got done plowing can wait until the next decent snowfall.

Has anyone had their skidsteer quick attach come apart while you were working the tractor? Mine did yesterday right after I pried myself out of the ditch. Weird. It all went back together easily enough, but it is odd that it came apart in the first place.

An energy conservation day today, for sure.

Have a safe day all

Coffee is brewing. 10° with partly cloudy skies. Heading to 19° with mix of sun and clouds. Got house work and paperwork completed yesterday. Need to take get it faxed today. No other plans.
Some days it hard keeping up with all the post. Thanks to Mostly. It is easier.
Counted 7 cardinals at feeders yesterday. 3 males. Could not get more than 2 in a picture at a time.

Mostly, Industrial area is on main road a mile south of me. Still lots of land to be had there.

Buckeye, vacant land is selling for $60k per acre here. There is 13 acres next to me. Hard to believe someone would pay almost $800K for it. Land could be divided into 4 three acre lots with current zoning. Lots of restriction.

Drew, sorry to hear about tractor setting for years.

Buppies, good you made it home safe.

LS, hope trip for new RV is going good.

WoodChuck, glad you got power back.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

It's a tough time to be looking, for sure. Many folks drove prices up when they left cities where they felt unsafe and looked for lower tax areas. I just got our real estate assessment notice and it went up 15%...and that's not huge compared to some areas.

Good luck with your search.

30 going to 34...a little more snow fell overnight.

Learned friend across the river are still without power and needed gas for generator...we texted them to come pick up a full tank, only to find out it was not LP gas, but gasoline they needed. Since I got the diesel zero-turn, I keep only small amounts of gasoline for the chainsaw.

Woodchuckdad, glad you got your power back...there are still 30,000 customers without power between you and me...talked to a guy yesterday that drove through Louisa County and said it looks like a war zone. We went to town yesterday afternoon and had to turn around and take a different route because of downed trees and ice on the roads.

Don, good to read about your knee progress...I wouldn't have expected any less from you.

BEF, 10 miles a night is great! They found that young woman on the AT who went missing on Christmas Eve...alive and okay.

Buppies, hope you don't find any damage at your place when it gets light this morning. I've got many days of clean up ahead of me.

27 outside this AM, heading to lower 30's. Kept the wood stove stoked overnight and will be feeding it today. Copious amounts of wood for sure.

Snow came and went, leaving a fresh 2 inches around. Like others, still looking at tree damage from the last event.

On assessments, recall I appealed, the new note came in 50k lower. Property values have tripled around me. A simple house on 2 to 5 acres will run just under a million. Our place has Ag zoning, but Rural Zoning abuts us and puts pressure on livelihoods and taxes. It is the age old "growth" encroaching on farms battles that usually end up pitting property owners against developers, fellow neighbors and different groups that have their own ideas for land use. Most everything for zoning ends up contested at the county government.

That's enough gloom and doom from me. It is Friday and the weekend is upon us! If there was no snow on the house, I'd venture up on the roof and take down the Xmas lights. That should be fun!

Hope all have a good day, be safe. Enjoy the weekend.

Prayers for all

oldest brother emailed me saying his granddaughter was looking at Univ of Kentucky and they had a foot of snow there.

only four inches here, light and fluffy, and thankfully despite lots of noise I didn't get any gravel jammed in impeller this time.
Shoveled the walkway, brushed off the truck, salted the walkway working my way back into the house. Good exercise, having a microwaveable
neck warmer helped keep me warm out there.

Good Morning.
It’s 26 and not going above freezing today. Looks like the forecasters got it right this time, everything is snow covered, I’ll be in the tractor after breakfast. It looks like putting out the driveway warmers was not a waste of time.
IMG_0443.jpg

Yesterday, I did some tidying up in the shop filling the trash can before putting it to the curb. The new lifter and brackets made moving the heavy toter the 1/4 mile to the curb effortless with the carryall. Dr visit was uneventful, actually saw nurse practitioner, she said that the shingles were scabbed over and healing up nicely. I finished the week long course of antiviral medication, so now I just wait for them to be completely gone. Still some pain and itching, so I’ll be glad when everything is cleared up.

After the doctor, stopped by old time shop that does radiator repair, sells automotive paint and glass, welding supplies including steel and gas cylinders. Bought some welding cable and connectors at prices that reflected the age of the inventory. It’s always a fun place to go, I like wandering around the place and making a mental inventory for future projects. The original proprietor passed away last year, it’s now owned by his long time employee that operates it by himself.

Today will start with a bowl of special K and then I‘ll get some tractor time in, followed by shovel time. Not sure what will fill the rest of the day, no band tonight, drummer is COVID quarantined.

Good Morning!!!! 48F @ 5:00AM. Rain early...then remaining cloudy with showers in the afternoon. High 54F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
Spent all day in the fog yesterday, with not even a hint of the promised rain. And only 0.01" overnight. Radar is showing some to the north and west this morning, so there's still hope.

Helpful diagrams of all those plugs, Lou. Can't stress the importance of opening the main breaker to the grid before back feeding a generator, though. You could kill somebody if you forgot.

I haven't had the SSQA come apart, Bill, but I have had branches move the handles up, and I have forgotten to engage them. Pretty much the same result.

Thanks for the snow pics, folks. I like looking at it, but that's as far as it goes.

Packed the big brush pile down with the tractor yesterday, then got a tarp over most of it. It finally started raining a few minutes ago, so there will be enough dry wood under the tarp to get it stated easily. No town run with the iffy starter in the van and the iffy brakes on the truck; I decided to wait for parts to arrive. Increasing CV19 numbers in town were another factor for holding off on a supply run I really didn't need. Conserved energy the rest of the day, paperwork and more of the same today.

TGIF gang! 🏁
