Morning all, sunny and 46, hope all of you had a great Christmas.
Didn't get in from xmas eve party until 2am and then xmas morning, son wanted up early for presents.
Got a funny text from neighbor with two little ones, she said "they don't tell how its going to be as an adult" since as a kid it's all so easy and fun, now hosting family.....

Friend has two pot belly pigs- they sleep in his living room and are quite large, one is very friendly, one not so much.

Happy birthday Mrs. BEF

Ham came out good-first year doing that. Today BIL is coming out for dinner. This time wife is doing the cooking.

Made everyone omelets yesterday for breakfast. The toffutti sliced cheese is back in stores after a many year hiatus. For some reason, that makes the omelet better than the real aged cheese I usually use (aged hard cheeses are mostly lactose free).

Great to see some new people from other threads here.

Stay safe and be well,

Good morning! A sunny 44 now, near 49 later? The forecast is mild for the next week.

We had a quiet day. Wife made ham for dinner, was quite good. We saved Christmas gifts until last evening. Cats got new toys, but a gift bag and an empty box have been the favorite.

Good afternoon all. It has been nice to have children running around the house for a couple of days, all is quiet now the grandkids have departed.

The youngest (4 yr old) was delighted yesterday to unwrap presents . A small toy truck fascinated him for a short while, then he decided what he would like to play most of all was hide and seek. Sometimes the best games cost nothing at all.

We were sat down enjoying our Christmas dinner of turkey and all the trimmings, when my wife asked "is Max on your side of the table ?". Nope, yet he is always guaranteed to circle the table at such times, ever hopeful that gravity will persuade some tasty morsel to fall off fork or plate onto the floor. After a few blank expressions we concluded that no one had seen him for hours. He didn't answer our calls and a quick check was made around the house. Nothing. Perhaps he had sneaked out when I went to get the sprouts? He wasn't waiting at the door and a bitterly cold gale was blowing outside. The meal was abandoned and we all started to search. I had drawn a blank at the last of the sheep pens and was beginning to fear the worst when my SIL called to say they had found the little dog alive and well. The indoor search party discovered he was still playing hide and seek - as quiet as a mouse inside a wardrobe !

So, guess what I got yesterday? Yep, a Red Ryder and a box of 2400 Daisy BBs. I found some old paper targets with a squirrel that looks just like yours, Ron. My son and I had target shooting contests for over an hour. Good fun, but my parents were right...we almost blew up the place with a ricochet off the propane tank.
Too funny !!

My MIL gave me her husbands Red Ryder and a bunch of BBs.

58° and sunny

Had song leading at worship. The song computer had issues, so had to use the books today.

Ate out after worship at the diner on the mountain, with our friends from AR. They were up to visit their son and grandchild. We stayed a long time just chatting.

Stopped at orchard to get cider, sign said open, doors were locked. I guess only one car in parking lot, that was leaving, should have clued me in.

Sleepy.

Ha, I just went with water with my oatmeal this morning because the bean milk just looked like bean juice.
I can't give up after just one recipe failure. The machine works good for "milk" I just have to find the right recipe.
I'm trying to stay away from the nut milks because of the fat content. Some non-nut recipes include:
5 Hemp seeds milk recipes
3 Pumpkin seed milk recipes
2 sesame seed milk recipes
3 sunflower seed milk recipes
5 oak milk recipes
3 rice milk recipes
1 soy bean milk recipe
Thanks for being our pioneer on this one, Don.

How many gallons of oak milk do you get per cord of wood? :ROFLMAO:

saw a fun video on the USS Kidd, yes the one in the Tom Hanks submarine movie.
It's been restored and they take the tour through the men's bathrooms.
Which on a boat of course are called the heads. Why?
I never knew; being a boater it was a common term, but why a head?

well....in the proverbial old days of sailing ships the bathrooms were all the way up front, at the head
of the ship, and were slats over big pipes leading right down to the ocean. Why in front of the ship?
If you are a sailboat, which until the last century they almost all were, the wind propels you, and is behind you.
So the prevailing wind blows the awful smell forward and off the boat. Today of course the heads aren't up front with modern plumbing.

and another little nautical gem. Unless you are a Navy man, you wouldn't know the real reason for the name hot seat.
Has nothing to do with heat at all, it's when the good seamen come back from the port of Manila with a wide variety of social diseases accompanying
them back, well you had to sit on the hot seat, the toilet in the bathroom painted red. No one but those who had clap or whatever used it. Roy I bet you have
some fun stories, not about you of course.

and speaking of communicable diseases, it was nice that the entire family I visited today all wore masks when they normally wouldn't have, for me.
Really for all of us, I sure didn't want to make these precious kids sick.
I never had kids of my own so my goddaughter's kids are the closest I've got.
One was playing with his virtual reality headset (didn't I mention that a while back...) building some rube goldberg device in some software sim.
His Dad said the headset made him dizzy and he's a professional pilot and AF weekend warrior. Been in the Reserves a long time.
He flies the big drones out of a base locally, and I got a small education on drones.
Sure not going to quote him, he's got pretty high clearance.
When I started asking him about the armament on the drone, that's when he hemmed and hawed. But it's all on Youtube anyway.

You ARE paying attention. Yeah.
