good morning all from Williamston NC
first cup of hotel coffee pretty good

saw hundreds of folks on bicycles yesterday, some big bicycle rally, mostly older folks it seemed.

weather turning crummy today and tomorrow due to storm system going up the coast.
reg gas was 3.15 here; I treated the truck to a fill of E-0 93 octane for 3.79
I think I averaged about 19mpg on drive down, maybe a little more

headed down to Washington this morning to visit with old next door neighbor and peek in at my old farm. Neighbor is the fireman who was badly hurt in a building collapse so really wanted to see him. Plus I got some monogrammed pencils for his 5 year old son, who is starting school.

then back to hotel, take a nap, then out again to visit another old friend and we are going out to a nice restaurant tonight. I didn't bring a raincoat, think I'm going to get wet.

RNG, no worry about this restaurant, nicest place in town and no jeans allowed...or at least severely frowned upon. Kinda nice to have one place in town that is good for a special dinner.

hope you all have a nice weekend.

Looks nice! I’ll have the $220 bottle of wine. Do they take Canadian money? LOL

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 4:15AM. Overcast with rain showers at times. High 59F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Only a few hundredths of rain predicted, most of it passing to the north. Monday and Tuesday look wetter.

The number of Covid cases here seems steady, well below the peak hit last month. But a third of them are now in the 65+ age group, and fewer 18-24 than before. I'm still masking, distancing, and using hand sanitizer between stops in town, and limiting my socializing to outside locations. That's not only good for stopping Covid, but for the regular flu, and cold virus, too.

E0 is up over six bux a gallon here, Drew. Diesel #2 was $4.25, and regular gas $4.50. Out on the coast this past weekend, gas was a dollar more a gallon! Sometimes you just get what you need, avocado paint and all. Sounds like a '70s flashback.

Welcome to the GM thread, deserteagle71. Does your neighbor allow hunting on his alfalfa field?

H&F looks like a real workout for the brain, David.

Looks like a pretty sweet ride, Paul. What'll she do?

Pretty sky, Ken. The NAS here gets backed up to a 10T hard drive. It'll hold twice that, and so far hard drive capacities have increased just a little faster than the NAS is getting filled up. At some point I wonder if I'll have to get another NAS to back up the first one? With Black Friday sales coming up, it might be a good time to look into that.

Seems like propane prices are up at least a buck a gallon from last year, Don. Not quite double, but shows just how badly the supply lines are pooched. Sure glad for that 1000 gallon tank sitting out in the back yard.

I've only had one trip in a man lift like that, Mike. Stable as it was, I don't like heights, but it was much better than being up on a ladder.

Self threading sewing machine, Paul. What'll they think of next?

Ended up replacing the pressure switch, then draining, re-pressurizing, and refilling the pressure tank. That seems to have helped, but the way things are acting, the bladder in the pressure tank may be shot. It's 17 years old. Also replaced the pressure gauge that sits at the booster pump output; the old one was stuck at 45 psi.

Got a case of the lazies after a late lunch yesterday, so took a nap. Still feeling a little off, so maybe two flu shots in two weeks wasn't such a good idea.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Good morning, low was 41 and the high will be 50°F. Wind SSW 9 mph. Partly cloudy.

I cannot seem to find my engine pulling chain, it is a 5/16" link chain 2' long with a slip hook on one end and a grab hook on the other. Guess I will have to go to the hardware store and get me some hooks. I have raw chain here.

That is part of todays' chores. Will also take the BH off and put the BB on.

Have a safe day all

Check, we are both having a glass of wine before we go and she will have one more glass there, no bottles of that wine for us. My friend is a school teacher, she will likely order sparingly.
I'm more concerned about finding a place to park the truck on Main Street.

22° and another frosty morning. Ready to go forage for breakfast, think I’ll start at the diner.

Removed hose from the bib, no ice.

Opened water tank on camper, some ice in there. Need to winterize.

Don, I checked out the Cha-Ching hose reel. Still has inflated tires. Will be shot after couple years in the sun.
Nope, I checked that out closely they are solid rubber tires, never go flat and no cracking as described.
  • "Flat-free, rubber turf tires"
Every time we clean windows I move the reel from the front to the back, those solid large fat tires roll good on the grass. Cha Ching.

Good morning! 36˚F, clear skies heading to the mid 60s. Last day on DST.

Going to look for some Christmas gifts at the neighborhood Arts and Crafts fair today.

"70 Artisans will showcase unique, handcrafted jewelry, pottery, wooden crafts, handwoven, knitted and crocheted attire, home décor, soaps, homemade jams and jellies, seasonal items and much more!"

The fair is also where the neighborhood clubs sell their items - wood shop, stained glass, pottery, quilting, knitting, art, etc . . . .

Mom's propane was not delivered while I was there yesterday so will have to wait on the new cost, she still had 30% left so she is good at least till the end of the month if the weather stays mild.

27F and clear @ 08:30 ... with frost on the ground. Heading up to a high of 55F for the day.

Dug some dirt out of that pile of field topsoil in the upper front yesterday for a relative, ended up they were sick and didn't come to get it. Might happen today if they are feeling better.

After that I took another load of that scrap siding out to the can at the road and got it busted up and put in, also collected mail.

Once that was done I emptied out the buckets in the garage and hauled the cat litter and compostables up to the pile.

Dropped the bucket and put the pallet forks on and took the pallet with the 65 gallon leg tank over to the northeast planting bed and drained it and the attached hose, using the last little bit to water the four Ajuga "Black Scallop" that I recently planted. That can now be put away for the winter.

Then refilled/reset the chipmunk trap out front, did not get to the one in the back ... possibly today.

After that I gathered up some tools and threw them in the dump cart and hauled it around back with the Cub. Laid out another row with the string line and dug 15 planting holes for peonies. Only a small hole dug at one of the irises and nothing uprooted before they gave up, so apparently whoever is digging isn't finding them appealing ... (y)

Also laid out another row with the line for the new day lilies.

Got top row of wire removed from the electric fence.

Moved hopper feeder over to the pole that Nest Box No. 5 was on, brought Nest Box No. 5 inside for cleaning/repaint/coat of stain on roof.

Refilled hopper feeder, also two sunflower tube feeders. Judging from all the feathers on the ground, looked like a raptor got one of the mourning doves.

Brought tarp from front around back and covered plants still in pots for the night.

Then took Cub up and mowed the remaining edge along the driveway.

Once I finished that and got stuff put away I ran down to Canal Fulton and picked up 7 gallons of non-ethanol gas to winterize the Cub and 1 gallon for the Stihl polesaw and blower. Pricey @ $3.999/gallon ... but worth it from the headaches it saves. Still need to get some Sta-Bil to treat the fuel.

Will likely plant the 7 new day lilies and 4 peonies I have today, hopefully the rest will come in ... before the ground is frozen solid ...

May also start planting some of the other potted plants that are left, Black-eyed Susan needs divided.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Saturday ... (y)
